Riven is Completely Balanced
lol just kidding

I don't find Riven that difficult to play against tbh. Most low elo Rivens have no idea how to properly cancel animations, interweave her passive into rotations, block burst with her E, jump walls, etc. The key to playing against Riven is to basically treat it like a game of chicken: whoever moves first is the loser. At early levels, Riven's cooldowns are long enough to take advantage of, in that if you make her use abilities without need, winning trades against her will be easy. For example, if I'm Olaf vs. a Riven, I can often bait her shield simply by walking towards her or throwing a Q. If she uses her shield to keep her distance/dodge my ax, it leaves her open to a huge true damage nuke from my own E.
As pretty much any melee champion, this is what you must constantly be doing vs. Riven: making her think you're going in for some aggression, baiting her cooldowns, and out-trading her afterwards. As a ranged champion this hold true as well, but in this case it's more about keeping your distance. Riven has a lot of mobility, however what most people fail to realize is that the more abilities Riven uses to get to you, the lower her overall damage becomes. If, for example, she uses 2 of her Q procs and her E just to close the distance, all she has left is one Q proc and her W (which does meaningless damage, since no Riven ever puts more than 1 point into it early). After that, it's just her auto attacks, which can be kited now that she used all her abilities getting to you.
The only real problem I have vs. Riven is when she brings Ignite/Flash and plays extremely aggressive and rushes level 2. At that point, you're most likely going to be zoned from the minion wave until your own level 2-3. However since most top laners bring TP these days, even if you're struggling early, as long as you can avoid giving her any easy kills in those few early levels, Riven falls off hard. If she can't snowball, she's just kinda there for her minimal cc.
Nothing keeps a low ELO Riven from downloading a script, and if you can't challenge her presence in lane, she's pretty much free to get kills in other lanes- which is worse, because now two of your lanes are losing. Riven needs a rework so it doesn't become so advantageous to cheat with her.
so every riven at low elo has a script? and players at high elos dont?
I really like to play Lee sin against riven. He can arguably dish out as much damage as riven, and his mobility can match Riven's in a single spell rotation. From there it is all about thinking.
Stop collecting free upvotes like you already did with your Vayne thread. >.<
That's why half the people make these threads on champions being OP just cause their attention whores and want free upvotes.
This is the exact truth but will be downvoted as any champion on these threads isn't OP, it's bad players losing to them. Seems flavor of the week is thresh or vayne, again nothing bad about them. GIVE ME A BLITZCRANK any day over thresh. ANY DAY. Lmao almost every champion on the game has something OP in their kit really.
Guess league should delete all champions and only have one champion to play and that's it.
Thanks for contributing to this board. You know, it's threads like these and all the upvotes they get that made me realize this board is nothing but a bunch of bronze + silver players complaining about champions that aren't even good at that ELO.
Chill it's just a joke.
hmm. complaining about riven>checks rank> silver 4> top kek.
Every single aspect of riven's kit is interact able. All of her abilities are skillshots, they can all miss or be dodged. She's not pantehon with a point and click ranged spear for harass on low cd and a point and click stun and one non point and click skill that's only used when they're stunned anyways.
Anyone who fights riven can outplay her by the nature of her kit. In exchange, she has tools to survive bad lanes or falling behind such as her shield and waveclear to farm under turret, and a close range stun to deter dives.
She already has counterplay woven into her kit. She's not a ball of stats. Therefor (amoung other reasons) she won't be getting a rework - or at least if she ever does it will be completely different from darius/garen/skarner/mord and for different reasons entirely.
Also, she builds only ad and does only physical damage as a specific design decision to play up her role as leagues version of a fighting game character. It's not a random coincidence that you just happened to notice that she only has ad ratios and does only ad damage.
so, you might want to reword that statement. She has only 1 skillshot.
Nope. I'm not having this argument for a 10000th time, you're just wrong. They are melee skillshots except for the ult which is a ranged skillshot. A spell is either targeted and can not miss without untargetability activating, or it covers a specific area at a specific speed and is a skillshot. Don't even start on 'oh they aren't skillshots because they're instant' because xerath q, lux ult, velkoz ult, etc.
I don't what riven haters say, she has to aim her spells and they can be baited out or missed just like any other non targeted skill.
so vayne Q is a skillshot, ekko E is a skillshot, zed W is a skillshot, ahri R is a skillshot, Fiora Q is a skillshot, renekton E is a skillshot, so on and so forth? And by the way I love riven to death, I am just correcting your terminology
Yes, those are skillshots.
They are DASHES. They are even called Dashes in the tool tips. You are arguing a really stupid point, you could have said, " Oh yeah, her dashes can be avoided my bad. " But instead you insist on arguing this.
It's a relevant point, because the fact that they are functionally skillshots makes it easier for people to associate the normal counterplays for skillshots with them, because they work the same way.
They're skillshot dashes if that makes you feel better. Warwick ult ult doesn't mention that it's a point and click because concepts like skillshot and point and click are external to the gameplay itself.
You are doing absolutely nothing valuable by trying to 'correct' my terminology, you're just trying to satisfy yourself and gain some sort of grammar nazi xp or something that you think you earned.
You are missing something very important here! Dashes reposition the player who uses them, skillshots do not! Riven is all about positioning, and and soon as you can outposition her the better you will do against her. Quit calling them the same thing because they arent, it has nothing to do with grammar nazi anything!
