Can Yasuo's Windwall Start Infront of him Instead of Coming Out of Him?

Prospector Pete··200 votes·7,821 views

It's annoying when you're trying to hit Yasuo with in an ability and he blocks it. You know what's even more annoying? When the projectile is about to hit him and his reaction time is the same as a potato, but he manages to fart up a cloud of wind just in time to destroy your projectile when it's right on top of him. Yasuo should be rewarded for good reaction times, not for randomly hitting W.

That's not the worst. what is worse is that he put his wall facing the WRONG way but since it's on top of him, it blocks it.

Zedex7 votes

I've rarely had this happen (if ever) and I play A LOT of Yasuo. maybe i've just never used it when I was facing the wrong way though, so it really could be there. I'm just saying, I've never experienced it and I've played him a lot. I'll have to give this a test myself. You have 5 upvotes so its either A) some type of client side visual bug for you guys or B) its actually happening like that, in which case I'm assuming the collide point for the projectile is bugged, and not the wall itself.

ModKnightsKemplar5 votes

I get that you haven't seen it (didn't downvote you, ppl b rude), but it DOES indeed work that way. Pretty well documented.

Zedex3 votes

People read my first line and then down vote me, its ok.

I've just never seen it because i assumed it was a properly coded ability. I am always facing the proper direction when I cast it, and my reactions are usually well enough that the projectile hasn't even made it to me and I wall it. So thats pretty much the only reason why I don't see it. With the champs popularity i can see how a lot of inexperienced yasuo's discover it because they hastily spam W when they seen that skillshot coming at them. It makes sense, the downvotes don't.

But thats ok, the bug will probably be fixed and since it didn't effect me it makes no difference.

yeah and when you're definitely on the right side of the wall shooting away from it and your ability just stops on you even though the wall is behind you... It should really also just block one way so he can't just walk around in it and take no damage but kill you with his balanced extremely easy crit and mobility

FHMarshy1 votes

Eh, i don't think Yasuo is that OP. He is manageable, but this feature, just like riven's auto cancel make them hard to play against.

BlkGolem1 votes

yeah, it's just all these small added things like armor pen on the ult, ult proccing off of vayne condemn that just add random unneeded options to his kit, like Lee Sin for example who used to have an attack speed slow and even has spellvamp just because...

Can wind wall also not block projectiles from both sides.

Zarkkast27 votes

How about if Windwall blocked projectiles from both teams?

DrCyanide18 votes

I think it's safe to say Yasuo would be hated twice as much, because he'd be blocking twice as many ultimates.

KaisadiIIa5 votes

You don't deal damage to both teams. You don't stun both teams. You don't negate vision to both teams. Why would you block projectiles from both teams?

it actually does it the projectile has a pixel in its hitbox that touches the edge of his windwall.

That's actually how I thought it would work at first, considering that's how Anivia Trundle walls work.

Windwall is one of those abilities that I feel like has prevented Riot from giving us a replay system. I've seen so many abilities that were clearly past it when it was cast just flat out warp back and disappear. If we could slow it down and replay it without 3rd party plugins the forums would be littered with reports on how bad this ability is.

Spoofghoul12 votes

But the forums are still littered with reports about how bad this ability is anyways x'D

Drakylon7 votes

It should spawn a couple of pixels in the direction that Yasuo uses the skill, instead of right on top of him -- perhaps at the edge of his model. That way he can't block projectiles in the opposite direction or either side, only in the direction he cast the wall, but can still block point-blank projectiles with a small enough reaction time (unless a TF or Anivia gets a Phantom Dancer to ignore unit collision).

Also, change the hitbox to actually match the graphics (or make the graphics sharper to highlight its hitbox). Right now I believe it's slightly larger.

Gregor Gysi6 votes

That's a simply and straightforward nerf. It does also feel weird as other spellshields/Braum's shield all activate instantly right on the champion model and not in front of it. The reaction window is of Yasuo is comparable with any other ability that is kinda alike. You are asking for an unreasonable nerf on a champion who is shit atm. Stop the circlejerk.

JustMyBassCannon11 votes

Wind Wall activates at the instant of casting and gives him a frame of projectile blocking, because his hitbox is smaller than Wind Wall. He can literally block a shot by throwing Wind Wall in the opposite direction if he does it at the right moment.

Yes, it's a nerf. To a really stupid interaction.

That's a: incredibly unreliable b: would need incredible timing (probably needs more timing than every other skill in LoL) c: is still not better than a regular spellshield

As I said, it's nothing special but rather common. There is no stupid interaction.

That's a: incredibly unreliable

Considering that there are several players claiming this and several videos supporting this claim, it's more likely than you think it is.

b: would need incredible timing (probably needs more timing than every other skill in LoL)

I've done it. And I'm no prodigy. Hell, I'm walking around with a Silver badge, albeit because I barely play Ranked, and I've done it. I've also seen it done in game, multiple times in the same match, by my friends.

It takes the same kind of timing as using Spell Shield at the instant of impact.

c: is still not better than a regular spellshield

Sure, I can give you that. It's the reason I'm on the side of keeping Wind Wall, because it's an interesting mechanic with power in line with its weaknesses.

As I said, it's nothing special but rather common. There is no stupid interaction.

It's not supposed to be a radial spell shield. It's supposed to be a directional blocking ability. Being able to use it wrong and still have it work properly is a stupid interaction.

The only problem with this is that he would no longer be able to block projectiles at point blank range. This is extremely significant against champs like Ahri Anivia Heimerdinger Morgana TwistedFateLux since they rely on projectile based hard CC for self peel. Being able to block those CC's at a very close range is the only way Yasuo has a chance against these kinds of champions since his only way to deter aggression from them is by attempting an all in. And at that range, with the exception of TF, you pretty much have to windwall predictively because you simply don't have time to react at ranges shorter than 200 units, especially if they're already facing you when they cast the spell.

DIRU1 votes

no sorry yasuo should not counter mages mages should not have counters go slice your veins with a fridge.

Slamurai Jack4 votes

That sounds really difficult. Fridges are pretty heavy. And realistically, he doesn't even counter mages; every single one of his matchups is either a skill matchup or a counterpick to Yasuo. He doesn't really counter anyone at this point. There's a reason he only has a 50%+ winrate against 4 mid laners and below 50% against 39 of them. Hell, he has below 40% against 4 of them. And that's with an average of 106 games played.

I'm sorry that you lack such basic reading comprehension that you don't even know why I think this change is bad. Hint: It's not because he's no longer be able to block spells walling the wrong way.

Originally was going to say something pithy, but, eh. If you're so senile that you've forgotten what you've wrote, no wonder you're set on Yasuo.

Zorsus5 votes

i wish i could make windwalls come out of me.

kaltenashes4 votes

the only nerf want to his windwall is that basic attacks shouldnt be blocked by it, its the same as denying cs and gp lost his denying cs, so should yasuo

i'm ok with it blocking waves, underground skill shots, flying bombs and every other angle skill shots, its not ok to block basic attacks, fk his blah shield, i'm more interested in the cs he's blocking and i cant get it in any other way without exposing myself

KaisadiIIa2 votes

It does not really negate CS because you can farm just by moving around. Yasuo is melee so he can't really abuse it, and if he walls just to deny you 1-2 CS (because you won't lose more than that), he's left really vulnerable to poke.

kaltenashes3 votes

i'm more interested in the cs he's blocking and i cant get it in any other way without exposing myself

KaisadiIIa3 votes

My point remains. From my personal experience, Yasuo's wall is not a problem when farming no matter how hard he tries to deny CS.

Also, every champion can "deny" CS as you explain it: They can stun you or zone you with an AoE ability. Gangplank was special in the fact that he killed his own minions, and no other champion can do so.

Durzaka2 votes

The difference is Yasuo can deny maybe 2-3 CS every 30 seconds. And he gives up a huge fucking defensive cooldown to do it. That isnt comparable to old Gangplank at all.

Ariel the Cruel3 votes

Azir I'm confused. Velkoz It doesn't block my AA's. Kayle Or mine.

UB3R 1337 H4X1 votes

Because Azir shoots a bolt of lightning that never has a disconnect with his staff, Velkoz b*tch slaps people, Kayle 's E is coded as her melee attacks gaining range and Thresh's hook is on a chain and as such they are all coded as ranged attack that are not projectiles as evident by the fact that item 3085 will proc and item 3097 will not exe.

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

I know the reason. Wind wall not affecting them was the joke.

Worse when they mess up the wall and ur projectile is still blocked. Hate when they aim it to the side instead of towards u. But b/c of the way it appears/spawns, Yasuo's get rewarded ffor messing it up. Ive done this as Yasuo too XD

Anu3isII2 votes

They wanted to give him the feeling of a true Samurai, giving him the ability to parry any projectile that is towards him, even a gun's bullet.

The fact that it is a Windwall and works weird is another problem ;)

1000angrybees2 votes

I remember someone from Riot said something like they know it's frustrating, but they'd only consider removing the ability to block from the inside of the wall

if I recall that correctly

DogIsGod2 votes

It's not Yasuo's fault, but your lack of skill.

a Weapon Master3 votes

The lack of skill IS the problem, but its not our lack of skill, its the lack of skill required to execute yasuo W, you can literally throw the wind wall the wrong way, and still have it block projectiles. That doesn't require skill and thats the complaint, if the wind wall was a proactive spell "Oh ashe and co are attacking me, let me lay down this wall to prevent that! instead of "Lol ashe arrow fuck that. wall"

That moment when you describe the same act... in 2 very similar ways and then try to pass it as "different". Give this man a nobel.

It requires either the biggest luck ever or some great ass timing to block things by using the windwall the wrong way.

Can Alistar knock his target away 100% of the time instead of pulling off that annoying stunlock combo? Can mages get punished for using Rylais to easily hit their combo? Do I have to ask more irrelevant questions?

LoL is more about prediction than reaction btw
