You pick Darius in SoloQ to eviscerate your enemy's insides in lane over and over again Considering the fact that Worlds teams have the coordiation to deal with him I'm still wondering why he is being picked tbh

I guess even worlds isn't above jumping on the bandwagon. Fiora went 5/0/2 but apparently Darius 1/6/3 is comparable.

Because fiora has hyper mobility and the ability to kill tanks easily with a nice AOE heal after doing so. Darius just contributes damage and occasional heals.

It was a disrespect pick by CLG. Darius is still a very weak champion to pick when it comes to coordinated game play. He is predictable and easily kiteable.

Cuz they know how to shut down a Darius. Their elo is beyond Diamond. They hvae coordination. In Soloque, you have the worst elo, toxic teammates, tilting teammates, and people who think they can 1v1 Darius as AD Maokai saying WHAT WHY CANT I KILL HIM NERF NERF!

If they heavily focused their whole team for Darius to carry, then the end result of those matches of Worlds would be a bit different. Perhaps people who really think Darius is ridiculous could learn to deal with him by watching worlds, but he will be banned no matter what so that doesnt matter.

To be fair, teams were focusing him pretty hard. This gives breathing room to the rest of the team.

Pro teams wouldn't be playing him if he wasn't very strong, especially considering how many strong tops are available right now.

The thing is people think he doesn't have weaknesses, even the commentator on the far right after the last game finished highlighted that both his weaknesses and strengths are very saturated, but in all 4 games show what it's like when the teams go ham on exploiting his flaws.

If Darius falls behind he can't catch up, and if he gets ahead you can play it safe under tower, Darius' strengths require you make a mistake first before he can exploit it and if it doesn't happen neither does he.

Thinking about it Garen would have been a better pick than Darius, Garen does slightly less damage over all but he can split push better, can actually roam with global presence and can quickly shut down fed opposition with villain.

I COMPLETELY agree with you on Garen. His kit is much better for the team comps that are being played at Worlds. He is tankier than Darius and his damage is comparable. As you said his ult is great for shutdowns and don't forget about his silence.

Darius is definitely better at solo q, but he is still a problem in competitive since you have to work around him.
