Slight buff to Chilling Smite?
is, in my opinion, one of the worst options for upgrade.
Now let's take a quick look at the options you can have besides this. (Which is a 50% Slow for 2 Seconds and minor true damage)
- True damage on hit, vision, reduced damage from that champion. Scales.
- Bonus gold, reduced cooldown when used on enemy minion, MS boost.
- Reduced Cooldown, AoE Damage, Restores missing HP/Mana
So what do all these items have in common EXCEPT for Chilling? Simple: They offer a lot of things to smite.
Chilling smite has the worst return even for niche champions, as Skirmisher is generally better for dueling and taking enemies down. What I propose is this: Let's give chilling smite some scaling.
#NEW Passive: Buster Smite Killing large monsters (or using on large monsters, either works) with smite empowers the next smite you use on a champion as follows: 0.) Chilling Smite- Slows for 25% for 2 seconds 1.) Freezing Smite- Slows for 50% for 2 seconds 2.) Gripping Smite- Snares for 1 second 3.) Concussive Smite- Stuns for 1 second 4.) Suppressive Smite- Suppresses for 1 seconds
Some of these can be removed but let me share what this changes:
- Allows for scaling opportunity
- Gives additional functionality
- Decision making. Do you build up a CC combo or do you use a lackluster CC right away?
- Offers legitimate competition for other smites
- Still rewards you for using smite as a monster killer as opposed to completely changing functionality.
It's an iffy concept, sure, but with a bit of work it could really be worth getting and actually allow for some good diversity to help junglers who sometimes gank.
