FYI If you pick Caitlyn and don't AA poke in lane

Why the hell are you playing Caitlyn?

Plz ADC's with long range, try to AA your opponent when they go to CS, its just a missed oppertunity to get ahead in lane. With a case like Caitlyn, we all know she has below average all ins but a strong laning phase so what do you do?

  1. When your opposing ADC goes to CS just AA them
  2. Once they are low enough push for tower damage and continue to poke from there
  3. Once you learn how freeze lane you can completetly zone off from CS, espicailly if you have a hook city support or a morgana

Note: I am not very good at ADC, its just that when I'm playing soraka support I don't want to be dealing more damage than my Kalista in a Kalista ditto in lane. Like seriously its rediculous, just yesterday I was playing a game as support Brand for the first time (built item 2049 and item 3222 ) and still did more damage to champions than my ADC. It pisses me off when people don't try to maximize their gameplay with the mechanics they have. I'm not saying that if your a noob at Melee then you should be able to wavedash into grab then waveland on a platform then double shine (i'm pretty sure that isn't a real combo but it is very mechanically complicated), but you should at least understand how to adapt and be able to play the nuetral game to a basic level and know what to look out for.

Minion aggro sometimes. Proper positioning can mitigate, but that goes for both adcs.

But you're a Caitlyn you have the range advantage to just walk away

First of all, Brand is probably going to do more damage because he's Brand.

But yeah, I play Caitlyn top and it's about the same as Vayne or Quinn with the armor penetration on passive. You DESTROY people with the right build.

theres jsut not always a good opportunity for cait to aa poke. The enemy might be a safe distance away. It might draw minion aggro which isnt cool And the damage from such a 'poke' early game is negigable...farming and controlling the lane is more important. Cait has other things to harrass with such as traps and q. Sure a decent adc will aa harrass when its convenient, but such a thing never won a game, or won a lane by itself. You were probably jsut doing a poor job at support bro, its not supposed to be up to the adc to harrass, and maybe you shouldnt harrass as much as you were and you ended up jsut feedign the opps...brand will always have high damae. the adc early game is supposed to be FARMING...and a huge amount of adc damage should eb against TURRETS

But that's not how you need to play Cait. And actually auto-harass is a great way to destroy the enemies. Poke them low (it happens pretty quickly especially with headshot) and then your support cc's and you go for the kill with q. Laning phase is cait's biggest advantage because of her superior range and the power of q/passive. If you're not poking with everything you've got(while csing of course, only poke when there's not a cs to be had) then you're just going to fall off in the mid game.

Poking is never an ADCs single thought, the goal of an ad CARRY is to cs and get items to carry, there is also the risk of minion aggro, jungler ganks, and flat out bait/ out play

Indeed but as the OP mentioned, if you didn't intend to poke in lane why pick cait? Her best advantage is that she is abusive in lane. Poking with our autos to get an advantage in lane is your only hope. Or else you fall off in the mid game and have to wait it out till 3 items. So be a sadistic person and make them hate playing adc xD.

In this meta you are kinda forced into playing a little bit more passive. You can expect an dubble summoner 12 every moment of the game. You can still try to poke when you have your support with you but if you are playing a squishy support like brand. The entire situation of poking is situational since when they try to all-in you on that moment. That support brand isn't going todo a lot on those short windows. Mostly when they get jungle assistance with something like an Elise. It's so hard to not die in situations like this without outplaying them. Just try to farm when your support is afk for the first 20 minutes against a blitz/vayne/lee lane. I have no idea how I managed to not die that entire time but I really had to give up a lot of cs in order to pull that off. After that 20 minutes I was only 20 cs behind what was kinda rediculus for the pressure that was provided on me.

Threat of gank is exactly why you should poke your enemies down so that they aren't healthy enough to threaten you during a gank
