Plz Rito buff underused items

Deficio even said Ardent Censor was a horrible item

When was the last time anyone has seen a Zeke's Herald?

I've played for about a year, I have never seen anyone build Zeke's

What about Ohmwrecker?

I've only ever seen it in Urf

Even if they're like tiny buffs that make them a more viable, or huge buffs that only affect certain situations I'm fine with that.

I forget the post that originally talked about this a few weeks ago but Zeke's Herald is the 5th least used item that isn't an enchant or one of Vitor's Hex-tech cores, Rengar's trinkets, or Total Biscuit of Rejuvenation

With the exclusions the list goes like this within the last month in all regions~~~~ (Info from http://www.elophant.com/league-of-legends/items/most-purchased?region=all&tier=all&period=month)

  1. Sword of the Occult, 1154 Purchases
  2. Banner of command (Personally I'm fine with this item because it is competitively viable), 1884 Purchases
  3. Ohmwrecker, 1954 purchases
  4. Spectre's Cowl (Competitively Viable), 3441 purchases
  5. Zeke's Herald (Man there must be a lot of Poppy, Gangplank, and Ashe supports), 4115 purchases
  6. Mercurial Scimitar (This item is situational and only really bought late game, fine in my opinon), 4523 purchases
  7. QSS (Competitively Viable), 4675 purchases
  8. Quinsoo's Rageblade (This must because of Urf, but regardless needs some help) 4830 Purchases

To compare the most purchased item in the last month is Beserker's Graves

200,034 Purchases

Seriously Rito

I get that certain items are so situational that if bought in that situation it could ruin an entire matchup

Like a Jax with an OP Rageblade

Or Fizz with an Ohmwrecker (Why u keep diving me ;(

But seriously when you have an item that is 1/200th as popular as the most popular item (Bloodthirster is the most popular non boot item which is about 199,000 just so you can't make the argument that well that's just because boots are necessary)

In conclusion

Either do what everyone doesn't want

  1. Remove underused items from the game

Or do something that will make us happy 2. Buff underused items

For people who wee wondering

The least used boot is

Boots of Mobility Distortion

And most

Sorc Boots Homeguard

Ardent Censer desperately needs a buff. Even 50 AP over 40 would be nice. I love the item but it just isn't where it should be.

Pikmints3 votes

I think a stat increase like that won't be enough reason for people to buy it that don't now. Usually buffs like that end up either not being enough or wind up being too strong so that people buy it solely for the damage.

I would like to say that adding another layer of utility to it would be nice, but it already has 2 unique passives and 3 would be a lot. Maybe removing the random movement speed it gives would open up a slot for utility, but then the question is what would make it worthwhile and fair?

Janna "Please buff this item."

I would like to see the mana regen component removed and the build path changed. RIght now as Soraka I would love this, except that between mana regen runes and item 3069 and/or item 3028 I usually have no mana issues, meaning that it's a bit of a wasted stat. I'd like to see it replaced with either straight AP or MS.

Tis a nice day2 votes

As an Alistar player, the mana regen is a great thing to have. Every healer in the game currently relies on mana in some way, so even though it may not be that necessary for Soraka, it is certainly beneficial for all other healers/shielders (with the exception of lee sin's shield).

I find the AS-buff passive useless sometimes. When playing with Vayne, twitch or any other ADC that buy many AS items, the buffs seem minimazed.

I'm not saying it's useless, but not valuable in some team-comps.

Champion Skin1 votes

the AS buff is the same regardless of how much AS your ally have... unless they are at 2.5 attack speed As every single point of attack speed gives just as much....

however the more AD and Crit the ADC have the more valuable attack speed is

I like the popular idea of Ohmwrecker active also working on base gates.

Ardent Censor seems very niche. It offers a buff to the whole team on shield or heal, but it's just attack speed. Maybe if it were something like, heals and shields also grant the ally an additional shield equal to some small amount, it would be more popular on, like, Sona or Janna.

Zeke's is weird. It should be changed to give allies Armor Penetration instead of Life Steal. That'll make it more attractive for all AD teams. Maybe have it build from Brutalizer and Kindlegem, gives 20% CDR and grants allies Armor Pen and AD? Alternatively, it can have no AD aura and reduce enemy armor in an aura, similar to Abyssal.

Ah so like an AD version of item 3001 ? I'm fine with that.

Zed

Variks the Loyal1 votes

The CDR actually won't be as good on Zed because his CDs are gated by Energy costs. He's set with 5% from masteries and 10% from Ghostblade. At best, he'd be able to Shadow Slash more frequently since it costs little Energy.

LittleBlast1 votes

One of Zeds passives returns energy. Also its nice to be able to ult more often.

Also the item suggested would have the same problem atmas did. It would have to be weak or it would be overbearing, with defensive and offensive stats.

Venowolf1 votes

That its a nice disable Base gates, also have a lot of sense, I thin that Omhwrecker need a price cost reduction maybe put n 2500g from 2600g

Mooing Kev3 votes

What bout zz rot, i only see people buying that in stomps for fun to mess with the enemy.

Tis a nice day1 votes

I think OP didn't mention the item because it was recently buffed to become the item with the most magic resistance and most resistances overall as well. Underused? Probably, but I'm fine with where it currently is.

qetzel2 votes

The trouble with buffing some of those items is that they can easily become too powerful. Ohmwrecker can allow riskless dives, Zeke's is filled with invisible power, and Mejai's/SotO can snowball far too hard in some cases.

Seth the Bum2 votes

But I like Ardent Censer... It gives a bit of AP and CDR, decent mana regen, a nice movement speed boost, and of course, gives extra utility to your heals and shields. I enjoy building Censer with Lux to really give the ADC an extra boost, for example. And Alistar? Talk about lane pushing power. The +25% attack speed doesn't seem like a whole lot until you've got it applied to several units at once.

I'll sometimes do Zeke's Herald on certain supports, but yeah, it's pretty weak right now so it's usually one of the last things I consider buying, if at all.

I was worried when it was rumored that they were going to remove Guinsoo's Rageblade a while back. Yeah, it's a pretty niche item, and Jax and Kayle probably get the most mileage out of it, but it's still a fun item with its extra mechanics. Poppy makes good use of Guinsoo's because it synergizes with her passive (as does Maw of Malmortius), and it's not a complete waste since AP actually helps some of her abilities as well. I find the Rageblade also fits Gnar, both mechanically and thematically. The bonus damage from hitting an enemy 3 times can become a good damage output with not only added AP but also attack speed. Gnar gets hyper as he attacks, attacking faster and faster, but then gets enraged when low on health. It's like the item fits both of his personalities.

Anyway, I'm not at all against the buffing of items I already like, but I guess I'm just paranoid that the worst will come from bringing attention to them. Any time I see a favorite champ listed in patch notes, I immediately assume the worse in the "League of Nerfs." And what with Riot's history of removing things from the game outright, I expect them to nix an "underused" item completely sooner than take the time to give it the care it deserves.

Sorry for confusion the numbers don't represent purchases, just popularity

Krigjer1 votes

As you said, they're incredibly situational. Why remove them from the game if the above is true? Better yet, why does it matter if there's a small amount of underused items in the first place? I still mourn the removal of Heart of Gold and Force of Nature.

Cronofuge1 votes

I find that both zekes and mercurial scimitar are incredibly underrated especially in this meta where tanks are a popular pick. Zekes and MC are great against thornmail and the cc of tanks respectively. The only reason I see for zeke's low purchase rate is how cost prohibitive it is on support wellfare, otherwise you'd see a bit more purchases, still that it is very situational. The low purchase rate of MS and QSS actually really surprised me, they're incredible items if used correctly, and that +80 AD can make a huge difference late game, allowing you to blow up the enemy mid laner or adc.

Still though they are situational. I would say that zekes could use some love in the cost department and I like the idea of defensive properties on ohmwrecker.

Tis a nice day4 votes

The lifesteal build path on Zeke's is also a bit funny-working since people are inevitably going to ask about the item 1053 you have on your Sona support.

trick 2g uses ohmywrecker sometimes

Buttigieg 20201 votes

item 3124 is actually super cost efficient and would work well in the right circumstances. The problem is that it is only good on champs that use ap, ad, attack speed, lifesteal, and spellvamp. It needs less stats but higher numbers. (Ie remove the lifesteal/spellvamp and increase the ap/ad to make it better on champs like Jax and Kayle .

Champion Skin1 votes

Well some of the problem is also... while yes it might give you a lot of combat stats it also has a ramp time making it potentially a bit clunky and somewhat unreliable

And there is also the problem that it doesn't really give any utility like the slow + speed from item 3153 or the movement speed and burst from item 3078

And it has a bit of a clunky build path for an early item... and it isn't all that slot efficient for a late game item

There was a Zeke's today. IWDominate picked it up on Nunu.

In the specific case of Ohmwrecker, I feel like it has a really weird place in the game and, in my opinion, the reason to play it right now completely contradicts the reason it was designed.

It was designed was as a tower-diving tool.

It is best used as an armor+health item to use with Cinderhulk after Randuin's Omen is purchased IF you want the extra health and the extra armor.

Your method of finding under-purchased items is flawed. Comparing anything to boots in terms or purchase rate is a bad idea. You need to compare them within their own niche, because that tells what's preferred over it when it comes to the slot it'll use.

These items do need work, though:

item 3158 CDR is so common that anyone who gets these likely ends up replacing them not even halfway through their builds. Especially supports. item 3093 An oxymoron, you're buying more gold instead of damage because you're a carry that needs to make gold with damage. item 3140 Only effectively used when countering select few champions; Zed, Malzahar, Warwick, and Nasus. item 3085 is usable only for on-hit effects (excluding crit, Sheen, and Spinning Axes...). Even then, in most cases, it's arguably not the best item. item 3091 An item designed to offer magical tanks AS (no carry would use this over normal lifesteal). Almost no champions can fill this niche, let alone want to. item 3056 Towers aren't even a threat - especially for some champions that can "dodge" them - so there's no point in building this over other armor items unless you plan to be tower-diving for the lols. item 3152 Spell-vamp is worthless because no mage in their right minds is capable of drain-tanking, and it only makes people like Vlad OP. item 3124 Needs a more efficient build-path, but the item itself is extremely efficient. item 3050 You know why.

The Bíg Ticket1 votes

Just because some items are not as popular it does not mean they need to be buffed. There are champions who work extremely with items the majority of the other champs cannot make use of and if you buff these items said champs will become really strong. item 3091 Wits End for example is not purchased very often but its an excellent item for Warwick (must buy on him), it used to be core on Irelia too and you can still build it on her over Bork in certain matchups.

item 3504 Ardent Censer is a very cost efficient item (even without the passive) and gives very useful stats to supports like Sona and Nami who really need mana regen and cooldown reduction, the movement speed is also great on them. I consider it a good buy on Janna or Karma support too since they can give the attack speed buff to all 4 teammates which is especially good if you run a double AD comp.

There are lots of other examples, taking away those items would really hurt some champions' builds and hence their strength, while buffing them might put those champ over the top. Just because an item isnt bought as often and by as many champs as Rabadons, IE or Zhonyas, it is a not a bad item.
