The Ahri Debate: Assassin vs Mage

Ahri recently received a plethora of changes on the PBE. First came the removal of item 3128, then, a major update to her playstyle focusing on her mage-style aspects.

Note: Assassin means Ahri should have to dash around with Spirit Rush (R) and be more focused on hitting Charm for close-ranged combos on enemy carries, while Mage means that Ahri should use Spirit Rush (R) for teamfight repositioning while primarily relying on Q and W for AoE damage.

Jesus Christ...she's BOTH. Equally! 50/50. QE - Mage. WR - Assassin. It's not that hard to see.

I personally feel that she falls into the same area as syndra, in that she is primarily a ranged harassing mage with assassin-like pick potential given the right opportunity.

i honestly always play ahri as an assasin and rush a rabadons or zhonya's, because i feel like poke/kite mage ahri is just unfun IMO. I like dashing in as ahri and deleting people when i do play her. I heard giving her q a speed boos, which seems pretty useless. Also the items they are somewhat forcing on mages aren't cost efficient, Chalice? morellos? Those both seem useless to me. 60 Ap and 25 MR does nothing lol

ADC Ahri is best.

People please. Single target burst damage does not make a person an Assassin. If anything, and this comes directly from Riot, they prefer AoE for for faster wave clear so they can roam. Kind of like Ahri clearing out a wave with Q then roaming bot and using her R to land a gank critical Charm on the enemy Marksman.

Ahri has and always will be an Assassin Mage like LB. She uses long range poke and high kit based mobility to wear down her targets before jumping in for the kill.

Just because Veigar can wipe out 80% of the enemy mage's HP with one R does not make him an Assassin. He's far too slow. The only way he can reposistion himself is by WALKING there. You cannot use damage as a measuring stick.
