As a Kalista who has gotten fed and carried 100% of my games, I can say that Kalista, with proper mechanical skill, is quite powerful. However, she can be played badly, just like any other champion in the game (Except for Ryze, because faceroll). Her passive has a sort of aspect where it compensates in case the support is AFK/somewhere else on the map/Not a queue partner. An idea I have for changing her passive is instead of distance scaling with Boots Tier, it should scale with nearby teammates instead. It'd be a more team-oriented champion, which is where Kalista shines.

I'm going to guess Riot's future isn't looking too bright if they are balancing the new Season 5 champions for AFK teammates.
