Rift herald is too easy to kill and too effective

Pros

  1. You can solo it with just about anyone.
  2. You can hit the eye without a partner
  3. It's easier than dragon most of the time
  4. You get a free turret most of the time

Cons

  1. Can you ward with the buff picked up? I can't find anything on it but it's kind of annoying how you can't ward with the buff picked up.
  2. You miss a wave and a half of cs

Super powerful objective that can potential get a turret and a half or more if used right. And it's not that hard to use "right"

I just had a 15minute game thanks to Herald. I don't think that will actually happen ever again, but it happened.

Got Herald, TP to bot. Sieged outer and summoned Rift. Got through Outer, Inner, Inhib. Had 1% hp at inhib. Got through both nexus turrets at 13minutes. I literally only had level 2 spellthief and sightstone. No doubt the other team messed up. They thought their 2 top could base race vs our 4 bot with Herald. And they just didn't handle it appropriately. But what character can kill a super minion at 14 minutes lol.

Causing more attention to be shifted to the Herald in game. This is what riot wanted to happen. It's supposed to make games end quicker and force teams to control the area. It's doing its job.

Doing its job too well. I've had just as many pre 20 games this patch alone as I've had the last 2 seasons.

Rift herald only didn't get attention before because it was harder to kill than dragon and it only gave an effect to one team member that would only charge when there weren't team members around. It was still really powerful because you could take down turrets faster over longer periods of time and dueling was x10 easier. But it was still limited to just a splitpush thing so the jungler wouldn't bother with it most of the time because the dragon could grant more pressure as a team. The difference is the new herald is overtuned and is killed too easily. You can get a turret and a half on your own or at least 2-3 turrets when grouped. It forces at least another team member to respond to the threat because the herald is just such a dominating factor that the one laner isn't enough to deal with the problem on their own.

It's too powerful and your argument ignores the entire point of the post. If the herald had the effect of destroying the enemy nexus than it would also end games quicker and force teams to control the area.

It's doing its job too well.
