Just so nice to have the most kills, most cs, get harassed for my build and still almost win a 4v5 game and then get demoted for my efforts. And then get to hear the enemy team brag about their 4v5 win!

That is no longer correct with this thing called "Dynamic Q". A good DQ team has a 99% chance(not 100% in case of a storm or something) of no AFK's or trolls due to selecting good people to play with, while a solo player always has an 80% chance of a troll/afk. My DQ teams never had any behavior problems/AFK's with a full squad.

No. The FACT that 4 people can loose a game because someone afk'ed in it is a flaw.

If someone AFK's for a long period of time at a certain point into the game, the other team members get loss prevented. The afk'er looses the LP.
This can't happen in premades.
Someone can still "take one for the team" but...this is also true now lmao If a team gets a shitty team comp that has no way to win they can just afk at the start of the game so the others can remake.

unless of course they grief in more subtle ways like leaving them to die, denying CS, KSing, denying them gold ETC. You can't detect that remotely.

I blame Riot for having no loss prevention like DOTA does and a shitty remake system that can't even recognize when a player is gone despite telling me they are disconnected.
All previous suggestions for afk loss prevention have been theoretically abused.
People have been abusing players by AFKing and trolling, so the system has been abused for 6 seasons now. Dota has no problems with this, so Riot can make it happen as well.
In short, deal with it. It happens to everyone.
Incorrect. A full dynamic Q team has a 99% chance of no afk's or trolls due to selecting teammates who don't afk or troll. Every person you Q with decreases your chances of an afk/troll by 20%.
