I get my sion Q interrupted every team fight

Hexs Fortune··3 votes·805 views

Isn't it enough that it has a long windup and a super clear dodge-able zone?

Sion is a big attention grabbing brute, not some ninja that wants to slip a Q in behind the scenes.

Every team fight they interrupt the super visible Q, then kill the squishies while Q is on cd.

Why can't we have immune to CC during the windup?

Because it does a metric fuckton of damage. Either you don't get CC immunity or the damage has to be toned down by a lot. Either way would be viable and not imbalanced I think.

Tanks are supposed to absorb damage and cc in team fights so their carries don't get damaged and cc'ed.

Sion's Q is damage and cc threat that forces the enemy to cc him to avoid letting Q do its do.

If you made Sion immune to CC while winding up Q, it would defeat the purpose of him being a tank. People would just ignore him because "oh well, Sion's invincible, let's go kill Ezreal."

They could make his CC a bit more reliable sure (better slow on e, better slow on Q for early release), but don't just go making a tank stop being a tank.

I'll tell you what defeats the purpose of him being a tank:

Having 1 enemy champ interrupt your Q and then being useless while everyone pops cds around you and obliterates your backline

Your Q goes on a 2 second cooldown if it gets interrupted. Don't pretend it has a long ass cooldown like fiddle ulti. It's a persistent cc threat the enemy either has to dodge or interrupt constantly. And you still have an armor-shredding slow and % hp damage shield. If you pretend like your CC is for peeling assassins, then I have some tough news for you: Sion can't peel assassins, and isn't supposed to.

You don't pretend teamfights don't end in 2 seconds either

They don't anymore though. Unless everyone decided to just pick 5 squishies or one team is just fed as fuck because your bronze ass mid laner is feeding, teams usually have enough frontline tanking and some coordination at some level outside of the bronze shitfest to not get fuckin steamrolled in even teamfights in just 2 seconds.

He's not great at peeling and he isn't great engaging either. There is a reason he is rarely picked in competitive and high elo.

He is okay but just not dependable enough to be great.

I don't think he should be immune but I understand the fristration. Especially when other champs don't have near his level of counterplay.

He's actually not TOO bad at engaging, the problem is that his only real form of engage into teamfights is his ulti. His basic abilities are really good for staying in someone's face and punishing them for letting him get close.

Personally, I would prefer a scaling buff to his shield, reduce the damage, and give it a slow on detonation. Or buff the initial E range/projectile speed a tad bit so that he sticks more reliably. He's thematically designed to just be in the middle of the fights trying to fuck shit up and stick on people with CC, so it'd be nice if the CC was more reliable.

That's actually a success for Sion. He's making people focus him.

If enemies would be able to ignore Sion and kill Ezreal while Sion is immune to CC, he's not threatening enough to absorb that CC in the first place.

I'm not attesting to whether or not the enemy CAN kill Sion's carry while Sion is immune to CC, my point is that CC immunity, especially for a basic ability, makes NOT focusing Sion much more preferable, because using CC to cancel his Q will do nothing. It defeats the purpose of making Sion a tank if you give him CC immunity on his Q because then enemies have no incentive to focus him over his carries. At that point you're reworking Sion to be this really shitty diver/bruiser.

You can, that's where team comp comes into play. Support picks morg and you can Q, at the expense that the ADC doesnt get the shield.

His Q is alright, but late game its a bit...... horrible. People are moving too fast at that point

Everyone on the boards jizzes over Sion having low reliability and a big potential payoff but no ones wants to play him and spend 5 seconds doing nothing because your only useful basic ability is cancelled and put on cooldown.

You have to be cautious with his Q and use it carefully instead of just outright THE MOMENT YOU KNOW THEY HAVE CC

and tbh they either have to avoid it or cancel it since it a high threat skill

Yea the whole problem with sion is how unreliable his kit is. Other champs have abilities opponents can dodge or interrupt, but not many have both

That's not a problem, that's a benefit.

I'd hate that and I like playing Sion.

He'd become worse than Yasuo. Sion would become 100% pick/ban.

Besides, the trick is to ult then Q.

You're the tank, the enemy burning hard cc on you instead of an assassin, mage, or adc is a victory.

It has a 3s CD if it's interrupted. Be happy you didn't play when it went on full CD.
