Theory on getting Lux back into the Meta!

Lux was my first favorite champion, and remains so today. I love her kit, burst, and beautiful laugh. I personally do think she is viable in a game, but with the fact that she is used in nearly 0% of competitive play, it leads me to believe that she is considered too risky and squishy to play.

Her risks are mainly associated with these factors:

  1. All 4 of her skills are skill shots (which isn't a huge deal, as Xerath is the same)
  2. Huge lack of mobility (also Xerath)
  3. Incredibly Squishy
  4. Lengthy Cooldowns
  5. High risk of death/flash when ganked in mid lane (if the enemy jungler is Jarvan, you're going to have a bad time~)

My solution to improve her quality of life: Add a "jump-back" when she throws out her shield (W), similar to Caitlyn's Caliber Net (E).

I think this small tweak will make her popularity spike exponentially, and even make her viable in competitive play. It gives her more choices against champions like LeBlanc (where as right now, if she LB jumps onto you, you must either fight or burn a flash in most cases). It also improves your chances of survival during ganks, which then allows you to push the lane with less worry. Though it doesn't cover all her risks, that's obviously a good thing since every champ should have certain weaknesses. Also, I think to balance out this jump-back, Riot will have to lower the shield amount and maybe not make the jump as far as Caitlyn's.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this theory!

Thanks for reading! Here's Lux's infamous quote so that you can try and say it like her!: Well, a double rainbow is a phenomenon of optics that displays a spectrum of light due to sun shining on droplets of moisture in the atmosphere. Does that explain it?"

Lux doesn't need mobility, she is a perfectly fine kite mage as is. I personally never have issues with LB as I snare her as soon as she jumps in proceed to lay full combo on her. Yes she is squishy, which is why I almost always buy a RoA on her to give extra survivability. As for getting ganked just ward your lane and have some map awareness. Lux isn't a bad champion at all, just people have gotten into the mindset of having to play assassin style mid laners for the most part and that is what is killing diversity in this game, but I will destroy many of my lane opponents as Lux despite people thinking she isn't meta. The fact that she is frowned upon and ultimately underrated is what makes her dangerous in the hands of a confident Lux main.

1), yep, but it's hard to miss her E, and the shield will atleast allways hit herself 2) yep, but just as xerath that is compensated by an absurd range 3) not if you ad her shield to the equation. with shields, Lux actually is more tanky than Diana 4) the only real weakness of lux 5) not so much, 2 forms of longranged cc, high range to farm and her shield. She isn't an escapeartist, but there are lots of champions haveing more trouble escapeing ganks.

Lux is more an underated sleeper op than a buff-worthy champ

Really she's just outclassed because her waveclear isn't the best; she only has her E as a way to clear waves without risking not having your Q to peel off divers and even if you use your Q, it only hits 2 enemies at most.
