You don't have to like it to understand its importance. You seriously think Riot doesn't know what's the players' stance on autofill?

I'm sure If they look at the boards and see a post like this one they will. Also no i don't see its importance. Probally bc I played without lanes or roles where people called out the position they wanted in the lobby pregame back in season 3. Thats season 3 i say again, there were 2 before that, and 4 after it. The game worked fine without autofill. So whats its importance besides creating bad matchups in ranked? Or instead of a player waiting 5 to 10 mins for a match they wanted, forced to play one for min 30mins they dont only to hope they can next time?

If you really played in season 3, you surely know your comparison is very bad. In S3 it was perfectly possible to play 10 games in a row as a support, just because no one else was willing and would rather troll. We had to know EVERY role at least decently, because you never knew who will end up on your team. Nowadays we need to know 2 roles and be prepared for autofill as a support in about 1/3 of our games. How is that worse? I fail to see your logic here.

Shorter queue times.

People need to understand one simple fact - autofill is not the problem, the problem is that majority of the players dislike playing a support, thus creating a shortage of players. If Riot finds a way to make the role more interesting, they will gladly remove it asap.

If you want to see the world without autofill, remember queue times in Team Builder. It was quite rare to find a match sooner than 30-60min after hitting "find a match".

actually i always found one within 10. And autofill is a problem in ranked. If a player doesnt know the role, they shouldnt be forced to play it because of some stupid program riot put in. Ranked is supposed tobe competitive. How can a player be competitive if they dont know the position they play. Granted I used to play alot of support. and I never made it above silver maining jug and support. Which i always got one or the other. The fact is autofill throws games. especially in low ello brackets which are the highest populated. I dont care if the person is gold 3 or higher ect.. if they don't know how a support champion works they will lose the lane. and the lower you go the more it happens. I've resorted to telling players who get filled support to go soraka bc its hard to go wrong with her. Though ill admit a mastered soraka is skyscrapers above an okayish one. But okayish can hold lane in silver and bronze.

Once again, it's not the problem, it's a bandage over a real problem - shortage of support players.

You're talking about competitive aspect, fair enough. But tell me, how can someone join a ranked queue if he doesn't know how to support a teammate? How hard is it to place wards (you're supposed to do this as EVERY role) and buy certain items, so you focus on map awareness (again, common for every role) and helping teammates (seriously, this should be mandatory for every role)? If supporting teammates is too difficult for someone, he/she shouldn't be playing such a team dependent competitive game anyway.

Simple they press the que up button after selecting ranked. Reguardless of what you think is required to play ranked trust me, in bronze and silver its not there. Then again most of the population of the game is, maybe theyll play garen support just to show riot to take autofill out or atleast add an option to select no autofill. Sounds crazy garen support esp in a ranked game, but thats not against the rules. Neither is them getting cs.. ect... hell one might be in your game. Anyway i'm tired of argueing about this. Your arguement makes no sense. You keep saying not enough support players, well guess what puttting someone as support doesnt make them a support player. So autofill doesnt work. Player's deserve to have the right to choose to play a role without being punished if they deside they dont want to. Its wrong for riot to bully people into something like that. I'm sure you enjoy your que time now, but that doesnt change right from wrong. If there isnt enough support players then maybe its the meta thats got riot requiring the position wrong. People used to play different team comps. Support hasnt always been standard.

I understand it's importance, but at this point it's more on the con side. People expect to play the role they chose, If I want Top first and Jungle second, I expect to get that guaranteed, not to have the system say, ok you might get it no promises. Autofil is utterly counterproductive to the system where you get at least 2 roles to chose from that you are skilled in playing or just want to.
