Riot - any chance we can get a couple Sion tweaks along with the skin?

Sion

Is there any chance we could see a couple adjustments to make Sion more fulfilling to play when his new skin is released? I don't think most Sion players want numbers tweaks, but there are some long-standing issues with his playability that can make him unfun.

Examples of possible tweaks:

  • change the minimum detonate time on W to go down with level, back to the original 2s at rank 5
  • make his Q less painful to use by having it activate when interrupted instead of fizzle similar to Nunu's ult functionality
  • reduce the delay when canceling his ult for early detonation by half to make it possible to sometimes hit sidestepping characters if Sion reacts quickly enough
  • give his passive, or perhaps just death surge, a way to be a little more sticky. E.g. Give death surge a QSS effect, or make it at least remove slows or something

Personally, I would also like to see better AP ratios on his W and E. Right now, there really isn't a single AP item he should ever build, but it could easily be made into a viable second build path without affecting his primary build path much. Otherwise, maybe completely remove his AP ratios and donate that budget to other improvements.

Sion is a monster. He does not need any of these buffs as most of them are too strong, not what he wants and/or would need compensation nerfs. AP Sion was a stupid and toxic thing and actually now it is a viable second build. Build full MPen/bruiser and your shield will still melt people.

He performs pretty well sometimes, but he is frustrating to use. Fast opponents and opponents with a lot of CC just never take damage from him.

Also, his W does not melt anyone. If you manage to detonate it ,the minimum cooldown is 3 + 13 = 16, or 10.8 seconds with 40% CDR. That's for a 40% AP ratio, 140 damage, and 14% of their max hp. So lets say you hit a 2200 life squishie and you have 500 AP. Congrats, you just did 648 damage. Nail them with an E from shooting a minion for an extra 533 damage. You have now done 1181 damage before resists. If the fight lasts another 11 seconds, you can finish them off, assuming you have enough magic pen to be doing true damage to your opponent. Increasing his AP ratios will not make his tank builds more dangerous, but it would give a viable alternate build path. That, or get rid of the AP ratios because they are useless (.4 ap every 10.8-16 seconds + .4-.52 ap every 4.8-8 seconds).

He performs badly when people play him badly and he is extremely rewarding when played well regardless of who his opponents are.

Hmm... maybe "chunk" is better than "melt..." Shrug... Either way it is still good damage... Here's what I build on "AP" Sion (although lets be honest you can basically build it on anyone that can do magic damage) if you're interested:

item 3020 item 3151 item 3001 item 3068 item 3135 item 3091

item 3091 is a bit trolly but the amount of AOE burst + DPS you get out of the build (in addition to the fair amount of durability) is actually rather silly once you consider the fact that you're basically doing true damage (in some cases bonus true damage). The item 3091 could always be replaced with item 3116, item 3512, item 3060 or really any 20% CDR item you want.

On an off note it's worth taking into account the AOE nature of his abilities. 14% of their health in magic damage is no joke even before you turn it into true damage multiplied by the number of enemies hit? Not so hard to deal a couple thousand damage with minimal risk... + Liandry's burn and Sunfire burn and if you feel like whacking them Wit's on hit magic damage (all of which is basically true damage (which gets true-er with every Wit's End whack)) and hell, you still have 4(ish) seconds of AOE CC to go with it.

Sorry it's a magic damage bruiser build instead of an AP burst build. (He really shouldn't be able to build AP burst...)

On an off note this is hilarious against Veigar... XD

Edit: Ohh! MPen Runes and Masteries are a must obviously.
