"Riot is doing what we asked for" so then.. Please bring back old sion!

I miss the cheeky bastard. He was the only champion I felt changed gameplay when you played AD or AP. A lot of people love the new sion keep him, that's not what i'm saying. I just want my buddy back at the cost of no one else. There's nothing similar in their kits at all besides the meat shield. My grippe with his rework is that he has nothing of the old sion at all. Sion was just simply deleted and I don't see why he couldn't have been a new champion if the reworked one is essentially a new champion, they're not even the same roles. Sion was a skirmisher new one is a cc tank.

The community overwhelmingly loved the Sion rework.

and i never said "replace new sion with old sion" thank you for letting me know of your reading capacity boards.. [zombie-brand-clap]

I think what he meant was that there is no reason to bring back old Sion.

EvilUnicornLord9 votes

It's partially thematic design. They never intended for Sion to be a skirmisher just like they never intended for Poppy to be an assassin or Taric to be a solo-lane carry. Thus, the reworks tweaked them to not only fit their designs, but also the meta.

I get that there's always someone who wants an older variant of a champion back, but it's better to accept change. Do you think League would be as popular if we still had Mr. Undead Potato?

RainbowIcee3 votes

How in the world would it affect the popularity in a negative way to have more variety without removing any current one? they don't have to bring him back like an undead potato they can just make him something else that fits the old kit.

Because the old Sion was toxic to play against.

"Toxic", meaning you and a bunch of other people just didn't like Old Sion because he had outdated visuals, voiceover, and kit. Grow up, lol.

No, because he wasn't fun to play against. He has the same problem old Yorick had; low counter play, annoyingly stale yet strong abilities, and clarity issues.

Lol. What IS fun to play against, then? Answer me that.

True, no champion is really fun to play against. But Sion wasn't healthy to play against.

We meet again, and I see you've once again changed your icon. Regarding the Old Sion, though, how exactly wasn't he healthy to play against?

Not at liberty to say because I didn't really see old Sion in action. Though I have heard that his AD playstyle was basically the most broken hypercarry because it never died.

Oh. I would have figured that it was his AP playstyle that was unhealthy, since the whole gigantic shield that you had to pop or else you take massive damage, or the point and click stun that also did massive damage. His AD playstyle, however wasn't that bad, and his ult fit what a juggernaut was supposed to be relatively well. It made him extremely hard to kill, but at the same time, Old Sion had absolutely no mobility. Not to mention, you'd sort of charge in recklessly with it in hopes that you could proc that insane lifesteal, and that was what both Old Sion and New Sion did in his lore. They should have kept his ultimate in some way. They should have scrapped the AP Playstyle and kept the AD one. I'm not saying they shouldn't have changed his E and R, but completely changing his role as a champion was wrong.

TheHowester1 votes

In general, his kit was VERY binary; it could go AP, but 2 of your abilities were useless, or AD and the other 2 were bad. His old passive was really bad; a 40% chance to block 20-50 AA damage is awful nowadays, where alot of damage isnt AA, and if it is, it does well over 200.

Early, if AP, there was nothing the enemy laner could do but tank the shots; you couldn't dodge the stun that could do half your HP, and if you didn't focus him, his shield would blow up and kill him quickly. If AD, he had disgusting amounts of LS that made 1v2s or even 1v3s very easy.

Overall not healthy back in the day.

Wind Whistler1 votes

A binary kit is no reason to basically scrap a champion. They could have either went with the AP Playstyle, or (preferably) the AD one. Instead, they turned him into a CC Tank.

Also, early game, his passive was pretty damn strong. It was just kind of difficult to notice. It definitely needed to go.

As for AP Sion, yeah I suppose it wasn't that healthy. Unlike Yorick, there was ACTUALLY very little counterplay to AP Sion. I guess I just automatically assume that people think he's "unhealthy" for no good reason. It's not common that a champion ACTUALLY has little counterplay.

Also, no, the only time he had that ridiculous lifesteal was when he had his ult activated. Also, Sion was immobile, so you could literally just run away from him when he used it. Also, CC and grievous wounds are a thing.

Yes there is... he really had no identity and when he fell from popularity, many people didnt know what you would build on him. Again, if 2 of a champion's abilities became underwhelming in helping whatever build they build, then that kit isn't very well made. New sion works better(not perfect, but MUCH better) because all of his abilities, regardless of what you built, are still very useful. Also he was never scraped...just reworked.

Yes, he's a tank now (wish he was more of a tanky,CC juggernaut), but he's still alot of fun if he's pulled off right.

Now, un-reworking him would be a bad idea. Partially because a lot of people like the newer Sion as he is, and partially because the old Sion just doesn't fit the current meta.

The best option to do, if they wanted old Sion, would be to create a champion that's similar in playstyle but fits the meta.

RainbowIcee2 votes

that's exactly what i typed, bring back old sion without sacrificing anything like they sacrificed old sion for the new one because of the drastic change it was practically a new champion and they deleted the old one.

Uh... I don't think Old Sion was a skirmisher, really.

You're a bad human-being.

Billy VoHagen1 votes

Yeah, probably.

Wind Whistler1 votes

They won't. A lot of people hate Old Sion. Personally, Sion's "Rework" should have just been a new champion, because that's exactly what it was. The same goes for Poppy and Yorick. Ryze's was alright, he still feels like Ryze, and Taric... Well, Taric still seems like Taric a little bit.

RainbowIcee1 votes

well poppy and yorick still play the same and remain the same roles. Yoric is chasing people and hitting them with Q. He has more chasing potential now though so he can do what he used to better. As for poppy she still doing the same thing wall slamming and Q. Ofcourse the damage was tone down a whole lot and you can't kamekaze the enemy team but she's still E>Q like she always been. Even taric is still a little bit similar you're stunning and going for the hits of course his damage also got toned down a lot but is still taric. Sion was the only massive change where i can say the champion was just deleted and replaced with something else. Whether the community loves or hates new sion makes no difference in what i'm asking, i'm just asking for the or similar champion back not to get rid of the current sion.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

Yorick isn't the same old "spam my W & E whole game in lane" type of guy anymore. He now requires a proper timing on his ghouls to proc, and especially a wall which can be destroyed & yet slow to cast.

Poppy's EQ combo may be kept, but they did a good decision of removing the toxic "total invulnerability" ult of hers. Also note that her Q is now Aoe & apply slows, so it helps her teamfighting skills a lot more.

Taric can now stun people in a line or two, instead of a point & click single target. Even his heal needs a precision toming on whether you want it on one stack or 3. And his ult isn't a plain Sona's "give everyone around me AD & AP for no reason" kit.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

A passive which was as unnoticeable as Urgot, so that's out of the picture.

A point & click Q which deals massive damage as AP, and where's the "gameplay" in this?

And an ult where it's probably good as a buff for Aatrox.

EpicMusic1 votes

MAN I DONT EVEN REMEMBER THE OLD SION WAT WAS HIS SKILLS AGAIN??

TheHowester1 votes

Passive - Rng chance to avoid 20-50 AA damage. Q - Point and click stun with a 80% AP ratio. W - Shield that also had a huge AP ratio. E - Passive that allowed you to stack HP from killing things while toggled on. Activated, it did more AA damage at the cost of a little bit of HP. R - Huge amounts of LS given to him and to others around him in a small area.

EpicMusic1 votes

WHATS RNG HOLY I REALLY FORGOT ABOUT HIM I CANNOT EVEN REMEMBER WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE, EVEN HIS ABILITIES. SORRY

TheHowester1 votes

Nah its fine! RNG is basically a chance for something to work. The passive had a 40% chance.
