10 ban system - another unfinished good idea

So I guess everybody knows about upcoming clusterfck called 10-ban system for draft and ranked play.

While the idea is good, as with many things with Riot (also Missions, game ballance and such) there is one tiny problem - they didn't think it through.

Especially the part where you can ban the same champions twice.

So in reality we get 6-7 bans not 10. Because you can't rely on "enemy would ban this and that". I am a low elo player, so I will use an example of what I am used to:

Each game we ban: vayne, yasuo, darius. Every other game we also ban: blitz, kata, zed

Now to be clear - i don't mind champions being perma banned. We already have that with Darius and nobody is complaining. That sht is broken in low elo so its ok to permaban it. I also believe that if something is perma banned, its either OP and should be dealth with.... or its just OP because players are bad (like why is Akali, Kata and Blitz so OP in low elo) and therefore nothing wrong with it being banned. It's how the game works and its just fine.

What I mind is - you call it 10-ban system while we only get 5-7 bans. Because each game, every team bans the same 3 champs and 2 randoms. So we get 7 real bans. Sure, better than 6 if you ask me, but seriously... it sucks. It would feel so bad to see you banned the same champ as your enemy, therefore you end up feeling like "I just wasted my ban vote. GJ Rito". Also the possibility that both teams ban the same champs therefore we get only 5 bans... its ridiculous. Sure, what's the chance 10 ppl would ban the same 10 champions out of 140, but the possibility is there.

#HOW TO FIX THE 10 BAN SYSTEM

Its actually so easy and if they implemented this idea, ban phase would last at least 1 min less and everybody will be happy. Just make it similar to LCS and lose the part where you mix pick and ban phases. Like this:

  1. Keep the "3 blue bans, then 3 red bans, then 2 blue bans, then 2 red bans" system as in LCS.
  2. Leave the idea of everybody banning at the same time with showing "intent ban pick". Ofc I mean everybody form the banning group.
  3. Leave 30 sec for ban phase for each group. Since there will be 4 banning groups, that makes total of 2 min ban phase, instead of 3 min like it is now. Ofc if ppl ban faster, time shortens. 2 min would be the maximum.

How it would look in reality: 3 blue players are banning, they ban what they want. 3 red players see what was banned and ban another 3 champions. Now the last 2 blue players see what was banned therefore can see if they should ban OPs that were not banned before, or not. Same goes for last 2 red players.

Before you complain about "putting pressure on last bans".... don't be ridiculous!! We're talking about solo que, not LCS. We are talking about solo que with no cooperation, where everything can be OP, where nobody really knows what's going on and where people just play dumb sht however they like. There is 0 tactics involved in soloQ ban phase so why do you make it into a big deal? You are not pro players or pro team playing scrims or tournament. So... everybody just bans what they think is OP (or what beated them badly in last game) anyways.

So many times we ban all the "low elo OP picks", just to get destroyed by some stupid random Gangplank or Twitch or Illaoi... which are not banworthy in low elo because nobody plays it so chance of enemy picking it is really small.... (but when they do we are fckd :-D)

So there will ben no pressure at all in soloQ because you ban what you want to ban anyways, or enemy bans it for you... happens to me all the time. I always ban Vayne. And idc about other's opinion. If enemy bans it before me, I have secondary ban option - Yasuo. If both gets banned, well I pick something else. No big deal.

I like it . Anyone who complains about pressure bans really baffle me. High elo players know who they going to ban so it basically leaves low elo. And low elo such a cluster bans change all the time and don't really matter.

How to fix it? Just do it the exact same way as in LCS. This basically different and pointless system for soloQ is just terrible as it is.

Plus: Make players able to trade pick order instead of trading roles after champs are picked (as in soloQ you don't have all champs unlocked to pick what others will play and you don't have...). Make only the locked in bans visible to the enemy team, discouraging silly trolls to roll through all the possible champs until the 30 sec run out.

(Btw, I can't agree with you OP about your ban order. It shouldn't be 3, 3 then 2, 2. It should come one by one as it really matters what the enemy banned so far to pick your next ban. So, imho, 3-3 before first 3 picks, then 2-2 after, exactly like in LCS.)

I like the new system. No matter what, I get to make sure I don't have to play against Annie. I don't really care if the ban gets duped.
