CORRUPTING POTION IS BROKEN

This item makes match ups unfair for manaless champions.

If you buy doran's, you can only get 1 potion. So the enemy will just recklessly trade until you drink your only pot, then they refill.

Even if you buy a long sword or cloth armor, the enemy can trade better with the op passive and you are forced to drink pots that you cannot refill. Again, the enemy just refills at base. It even heals mana so they throw everything at you constantly to use the passive and burn your pots.

Basically, you have to buy a corrupting potion, but if you don't have mana, it's not efficient.

You need to nerf this op broken item that makes top lane so retarded or reduce regular pot cost. I don't play top often so maybe I am missing something but this is beyond stupid.

Remove mana regen, or health regen, or the passive, or the ability to refill.

At least before, if you bought an elixir for early power, it expired. This stupid item is refillable and gives broken sustain.

**Seriously, it does fucking 15 DoT magic damage at level 1???? With 3 charges, it's like free ignite??????? Heals 375 hp????? + mana????? Why do doran's items even exist????????? **

It gives you OP health and mana sustain, and comes with free ignite damage.

I propose that you remove this item from the game.

Idk, mana based champions need something over manaless champions.

Well it's a part of the champion kit to be manaless... Champions strength shouldn't be automatically nullified by a starting item.

By being manaless, champions have an edge over in trades and sustain, but now there's no point because the pot negates everything.

Unless you force them to use up all three, thus preventing them from doing much else in lane unless they back.

It was actually nerfed not long ago, but yeah I agree. Maybe nerf it to 2 charges or just remove it.

I think it's fair to have 2 charges. With 3, you have to trade 3 time to have the enemy burn all pots, but by then they can just refill and there's no way you can sustain equivalently to that.

It essentially works like a DoT elixir, except you can use it 3 times separately.

If you're a manaless champ and going dorians you can go shield or blade. Both give a nice chunk of hp and their own way to sustain. Dora's also prevent all in's, potions do not. You could go refill pot and cloth armour if you really wanted. Increases the efficiency of any AD trades and increases the value of the refill potion.

Corruption pot passive is much better than doran's passive.

The pot gives 45 magic damage at level 1 with 3 charges. The doran shield blocks 8 per single target abilities and attacks. Do the math, and there needs to be 6 attacks/single target abilities to be equivalent. And on top of that, doran's does not have any healing that the pot has.

The pot comes out on top whether it's a trade, all-in, or sustain. Unless of course, you play a champion that can force the enemy to use all 3 charges, which is impossible. 375 healing in total by 3 separate charges gives so much control.

The doran blade is slightly better because the AD can scale champion abilities unlike the pot. But the blade passive is weak early, so you have the same issue like that with doran's shield.

Where are you getting 45magic damage from?

MR KIMCHI SENPAI1 votes

"TOUCH OF CORRUPTION: Abilities and basic attacks apply a burn that damages enemy champions for 15 - 30 (based on level) bonus magic damage over 3 seconds. Bonus damage is halved for area of effect and damage over time effects."

So at level 1, consuming 1 charge will give you 15 magic damage over 3 seconds.

I am not sure if it refreshes if you re-apply it.

BloodyTompon1 votes

It's 15 over 3 seconds, not 15 per second for 3 seconds. Generally DoTs like that do refresh, but not reapply the initial tick on the reapplication.

3 charges for 45 damage. And every additional level grants 3 more damage, so it's like 50 damage for level 3 champion.

I think you are misunderstanding how it works? It's actually more powerful than you're making it sound. You get a buff for 12 seconds. For that 12 seconds any damage to the enemy applies a DoT that deals 5 per second for 3 seconds. You can get a lot more than 45 damage from it off in the 36 seconds that the 3 charges last.

It's actually a noob trap potion cause it only works against noobs.

It is not that strong of an item. If the player pops a corrupting potion it probably means that you won a trade in the top lane. It also means that they are looking to "trade back" so simply stay away while the potion is active and let the wave shove.

You are probably having issues of knowing when to trade in the top lane and when to NOT trade. Top lane is primarily a sustain and farm lane while other roles aside from support seek out kills. Unless you play a hyper aggressive champion that needs kills in the top lane, you really are just hoping to not lose an early tower, farm well, and then play for the mid game. The sustain masteries have made it so sustaining in the top lane is easy as long as you don't over extend or get hard camped.

Corrupting potion sets players behind because they are spending their 500 gold on an item that is really only good prior the first back. They are also not buying items that give flat status bonuses for a sustain item and delaying the purchase of their first item. As a top laner you can back early to get your item and then use your first TP to go back to lane.

Corrupting potion is only decent prior the first back. After that it is useless. There are only a few top laners that take the item frequently, Pantheon Irelia Gangplank Jax and Malphite. After that it is a mixed bag. Most of the champions that take the item are a little more offensive early or much sustain.

It is really only a good item for specific top laners and it isn't broken, just optimal for poke heavy champions with lower levels of sustain. Most top laners have pretty decent sustain so they don't need corruptor's potion. I don't know if people remember last season with Crystalline Flask. It was cheaper, gave more health and mana per charge, AND you could buy potions while owning it. You could sustain forever on your first buy.

In general most of the doran's items are not picked by top laners and are pretty weak. Dorans Ring is good for AP champs in the top lane and Doran's blade is only good for an ADC that goes top and maybe fiora. I think corrupting potion is a bit of a "noob trap" item on some champions. I think it is more important to begin or start your first top lane item with your initial gold. You delay your first purchase by buying Corrupting potion or a doran's item. Armor, a long sword, or ruby crystal should typically be your first item along with potions. This is also the case if you are running TP you can make an early back if you want to complete your item quicker.

Flask from previous seasons did not have the kind of passive that corrupting potion has. There was a trade off between sustain and all-in/trade power.

Corrupting potion gives so much safety at early levels. Buying doran's shield or sword does not win you all-in or trades currently at early levels because the healing and passive are too much.

Top lane champions that don't have mana such as Renekton, Lee Sin, Riven, Rumble, etc. these champions are known for strong early fights but because of enemies with corrupting pots, they are unable to use their power spike to their advantage. I think corrupting pot provides too much as a starting item.
