Anybody elses misses boots enchantments?

I remember how fun it was running Captain Boots Shyvana and Furor Boots Sivir, they were awesome.

I know RITO might have bigger pressing issues than enchantments but I'd like to know if they even consider bringing them back if at all.

Homeguards was incredibly strong. To the point that they gave it as an automatic. Which sucked, because I liked having them pre-20min sometimes.

It feels really bad when you base around 18-19min and the game has been crazy enough that you expect to be rushing back out only to realize homeguards aren't active yet.

As a support my build on Nautilus was Targon's brace, sightstone, and swifty boots with homegaurds.

The roaming potential was crazy. Plus it meant we could take bad trades bot lane because I could get back to lane very quickly and that 30% Hp support was now full health again.

Dunno, I just remember at the time that forum scuttlebutt was that Hecarim abusing TP/Homeguard/MobiBoots to jump into lane with obscene amounts of damage for the first few seconds was one of the main reasons they started looking at enchantments. It's certainly the most prominent abuse case I can think of.

The small enchantments Azir ult lasting 4 seconds longer Kat being ez to play Yasuo not being banned every game Good orderly and professional threads that really build into something of value and AND get noticed by riot and become true in game :3 it's the little things. They grow on me

NiceTryVi23 votes

Yas is banned every game because he is anti-fun to play against, and tells ranged champions they don't get to do anything for about 4 seconds. Combine that with the ability to carry from a hole, and you get somebody that quite a few people definitely do not want to ever see.

IPromiseTomorrow6 votes

For 4 seconds you can play around the wind wall. You don't have to put projectiles in it. He can carry because cc want focused on him

. You ignore a carry champ he kill your team I flash mastery and I go to Gold 5 (Say that in bricky's voice)

He's not supposed to be banned every game. But toxic people are just throwing hate into the fire and lighting everything up absurdly.

NiceTryVi3 votes

How are you gonna play around it when he can cast it into big abilities, or long range ones with travel time? Sure, you don't have to throw more in, but there is a player behind Yasuo too, its not like he just exists and throws abilities randomly.

IPromiseTomorrow2 votes

Bait his W Don't fight him in minions

When his w is down your ability will come up before his. If you ulted well he outplayed and you used ult.

Also in team fights you fire poke at his friends and he might use W also.

<.< He's not a god. If you're in silver that Yasuo isn't going to w everything and dash past everything Not even Yassuo, Arka, Tempest. Will live through people who know how to counter Yasuo, that's why Yas ain't banned in challenger, he's beatable

Thefrostyviking3 votes

Ya except being beatable in Diamond/master doesn't mean it's fun to play against him.

You gotta realize that the people playing there make exceptionally few mistakes and can rely on their team not to do too many either.

A luxury that doesn't exist below Diamond, if Yasuo get's 1 kill early and he´s decent then he will almost always snowball extremely hard.

And no ranged can stop him because the slightest misstep against a fed yas is a instant death for a carry, while he takes no damage thanks to his wall.

IHe´s beatable? Yep, absolutely nerve wrecking to play against because you know a mistake can cost you the game? Yep.

Or, you know, if he get's fed in another lane then you might as well quit if the teamcomp isn't quite good. Because there is no way to stop him if you are lacking a metric ton of hard CC and damage that can pass his wall.

IPromiseTomorrow2 votes

Well he's good player he's supposed to carry

And there aren't Yasuo gods in low Elo Goodness if you see a low Elo Yas you can beat him if you're better with outplays and macro. And him being low Elo means. It's not impossible for a Yasuo in gold and lower to make a mistake.

You can instead slow push ,ward, guard your adc focus Yasuo, and just bait him since Yasuos in low elo even Yassuo (who's challanger) are easily baitable

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Ah the infamous high aggro syndrome that nearly all Lee sin´s have and every single Yasuo has x)

But for real, i used to play ADC a lot but then i often had cases of winning or at least playing well and not dying despite bad odds then some midlaner and toplaner goes and dies twice or thrice and suddenly Yasuo is a god that can deny my very existence.

....actually he can do that as long as he as winwall, really.

I´ve lost count of the games i could have won if not for that ridiculous ability, enemy Yas just dives into the middle of a teamfight and shuts me and the rest of my teams backline out and proceeds to leisurely kill the frontline who is stuck dealing with his team.

Or he uses flash to dive or ults up as a follow and uses windwall and his speed to make it nigh impossible to stop him from killing at least 1 and a half carries.

Then he runs of and heals back up on minions in a few hits and goes back in.

The only time Yasuo is manageable is lanephase but controversially, if he is not beaten really hard at that point then he will become a monster of his high scaling.

Altho i have just as many issue´s with Darius and Fiora but at least they don't tilt me as much as his windwall x)

IPromiseTomorrow1 votes

Windwall is the ability of pain and embodies the hugest "neglect" to another it feels like it is more than just a Windwall.

I know the feeling bro I know. But he's as Bullshit as Zed, Yi, Fiora, old Kass and they themselves are equally bs as him in their own way

It's not ADC, it's not Op. It's the player playing Yasuo. It's just the pain within the ability the power

I know. But yet.

I really don't look at it as so bad. Honest I have gone back in my chair one time from it being used like a MIND READER. But that moment honestly carries in itself "I did something wrong" and also I was once stuck in that past moment of pain and scarred from Windwall itself.

But never get stuck in the past, come to present time. Don't let a LoL game let you down hard it's not that big a deal, I have a diamond friend who told me this

"I got better in lol after I got better in Life" there are more important life matters far more valuable than Yasuo and his Windwall. You can be happy that's far more valuable than "W" will ever be.

............... ........... ..........

I am completely lost but the speech was nice which is nice.

And my current solution to any Yasuo and even Fizz situation has been :
Malzahar + item 3102 (midlane)

Which has been working quite well and made me quite relaxed. i´ve yet to lose a lane against a fizz or even later and the few Yasuo´s i picked malz agains all quit in champ select,....when not banned out.

I am just sad about being unable to playAshe whom i used to main a lot because of how bad she is at dealing with assassins and divers and various supports and "supports". This is my true sorrow.

I am still quite happy i started playing malz again though.

JedenVojak5 votes

Since ranged champions get to tell melee champions they don't get to do anything for the entire laning phase, I think that's pretty fair overall.

Thefrostyviking2 votes

But how many people actually pick melee into ranged matchups?

And in many cases when someone plays a ranged it's to not get screwed over by a BS champ like Darius or Fiora that have been dominating the toplane for the past few months with only a few weeks where they were demoted to tier 1 rather than god tier.

Really, for toplane, unless you´re playing any of these :

Riven,Darius,Fiora, yasuo then situtationally renekton or phanteon then you are just asking to get screwed over, because all of them are monsters that are exceedingly difficult to beat as long as the player is even half decent.

It´s no wonder people want to avoid dealing with that and instead pick ranged champs.

I would know since i main Jax for top.

Hinagiku331 votes

And then you realize that ranged champions have existed since the Beta while most of those champions are from Season 2 or later.

Ranged v. Melee interaction (or lack thereof) has been broken in League since the game started and is the reason why melee champions have to be overpowered or overloaded just to exist. People might want ranged top laners to deal with Riven, Fiora, and Darius, but all those of those champions only exist in their current state because that is what is required for them to not be completely worthless if their opponent picks a ranged top laner.

Riot calls it "The Irelia Problem" where a melee champion needs to be completely overwhelming and have an answer to everything in their kit or else they won't be worth picking.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

And thus as melee get's buffed they become able to suppress ranged which causes ranged to receive buffs and suppress all but the strongest melee again x)

But for real tho, some like jax are understandably hard to buff, a late game carry that dominates early? No one wants that.

So he gets to be this champ that if he gets far enough he´ll become a monster, IF.

However others like Darius or say Fiora are just outright problematic, because either they work and are gods or they don't and become nothing.

Not that Jax is problem free either, rarely saw a character that is so damm hard to deal with for any auto reliant champ besides Yasuo but at least he´s vulnerable to spells and abilities. An easy to understand weakness is something that one can appriciate now x)

Hinagiku331 votes

Agreed. I don't like the way Riot handled Fiora's rework and reworked Darius is just cancer. Top lane is such a nightmare that I'm mostly sticking to RGM and bot lane until it gets sorted out.

But until Ranged v. Melee interaction is fixed, I don't think it will ever get better.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

It´s probably can't be "fixed" due to the very nature of the words ranged and melee.

I´ll be content if Darius and Fiora cease dominating top so hard for a couple of patches though x)

Altho that would leave Yasuo open to do whatever he wants which would be really, really bad.

Hinagiku332 votes

I mean, it can be "fixed" if Riot would introduce mechanics to some kind of downside to being ranged. Other games don't have nearly the problems this one does.

Turn speed. Items giving weaker stats/effects for ranged. More severe differences in base stats.

There's a lot of things Riot could do, but I don't think they will. So melee champions will always be non-viable unless they are overloaded or overtuned and ranged champions will never have healthy interaction with melee champions.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

You aren't really correct though, because many of the effects and stats on those items were added because the auto attackers couldn't keep up with the melee champs.

Like, "ADCIn2k17 lul" was a thing.

Which resulted in item 3153 being buffed extremely hard.

Tell me, is there even a single melee champ you do not consider overloaded? Because in my eyes overloaded often equals fun, which means more players.

The non-overloaded champs usually have the smallest player bases, unless the champ posses a very powerful tool or just potent synergy between abilities in their kits.

Even now, the most banned ADC is Xayah sitting at the 12th spot. (OP.GG)

All the others ahead of her are melee, except LB at the 8th spot.

Meanwhile the most banned melee are kassa, fizz and zed. Followed by Zac and lee sin.

You speak like Ranged champs are dominating, but in fact melee are topping the game in terms of banrate which indicated that people don't feel pressured by ranged champs very much.

Nope, Assassins and godly tanks like Zac are still ontop, as they have been for ages.

But i looked at Lolkings statistics as well.

And there Xayah and LB had the 6th and 7th spots in terms of most banned, graves had the 8th.

Everyone else in the top 10 were melee.

And so wonder, which other games do you write of? And where is the issue? Because league doesn't seem to suffer from any particular ranged vs melee issue since melee are dominating.....

If i had to guess id even say the only reasons cait and Ez are so popular among the ADC's is because they are the only two who are truly good at not dying.

Which would explain their actually outstanding popularity, even if their ban and winrates aren't terribly impressive.

Hinagiku331 votes

...I don't understand what you mean?

Melee champions can be, and often are, successful in League. It's just that this is only possible by either adding more mechanics and such than a ranged kit would get, or by cranking up numbers.

Riot is aware that this is a thing and even calls it "The Irelia Problem" - where a melee top laners need to have basically everything in their kit or else they are completely invalidated by ranged top laners. By designing Irelia to be capable of laning against ranged top laners, she ended up being completely unstoppable against melee top laners. And thus other melee champs have been brought up to her level. Now any melee champ that is even slightly undertuned is completely worthless.

Hell, melee champions often end up blatantly overpowered. When your balance strategy amounts to "Fight broken with broken" you tend to overshoot the mark every now and then.

But "ADC in 2K17" was never really a thing. Both teams still required at least one Marksman every game, it's just that some melee champs were a little more overtuned than usual for a bit.

Dude, did you look at the ADC's winrates under that time period?

All of them were under 50%.

Except Ziggs botlane.

I even think the majority dipped down at 46% which is just 2% over where Azir is now.

Nope, at that time people played mages in the botlane instead of marksmen and even if you picked a marksman you still had almost no impact on the game. Just looking at the big ADC streamers and you saw them feeding their asses off completely unable to do anything.

And Riot have evidently overcome the Irelia problem, Fiora, Riven and Darius can all beat her if played well. I´ve done it with Jax a number of times too.

And she still remains viable against Ranged matchups.

And the "ADCin2k17 lul" was not a short time case, it went on for 3 months. From the end of 2016 to the beginning of mars patch 7,5 when botrk was buffed.

You clearly do not play any marksman do you? Or at least no regularly.

That or you are not above low silver, because people down there aren't nearly as affected by changes as those above.

Hinagiku331 votes

"The Irelia Problem" isn't Irelia herself. It's a term Riot sometimes uses for the old way they used to design melee top laners. Irelia was created by that design philosophy and completely dominated. Since then Riot has tried to cut back but the problem isn't solved because if a melee champion isn't "over-designed" they can't lane against ranged champs at all.

Yeah, down where I play we never got that Ziggs botlane stuff. I heard about it here in a few posts but never saw it.

Also I play normals so people probably just didn't even care.

That's a difficult question to answer when you have no idea what champion your opponent is going to be playing as, as their choices are hidden.

What i tried to refer to here is that very few would deliberately pick melee into ranged, whilst many would deliberately pick ranged into melee (Toplane) .

A matter of counter picks.

Renekton isn't a generally good pick anymore? What happened while I was gone?

Far as i understand he is really, really good situationally and just good in other cases, he mainly hangs around as a tier 1 pick while in good matchups becoming a god tier pick.

In good hands he´s great.

God bless you, sir.

....I mean, sure, Jax is kind of BS in a number of ways but i just happen to enjoy him because i know how to deal with Yasuo on him x)

The only melee champs in a traditionally ranged matchup are champs like Zed, Talon, or Kass, all of whom have abilities to get on ranged champions, where they crap all over them. So no, they don't. Your argument is invalid.

Actually my argument is completely valid - you can't even play other melee champs because you:

  1. don't have abilities to get on ranged champions
  • OR -
  1. don't just crap all over them

On top of their innate mobility options Lucian, CC Jinx, or combination of the twoCaitlynVayne Lissandra Quinn Tristana , they also have access to items to just not-die item 3157 item 3026, as well as summoner spells to not diesummoner 4 summoner 21 summoner 7, and in the case of marksmen an entire character whose sole purpose in the game is to keep them alive, no I don't think ranged champions are so easily caught or crapped on.

NiceTryVi1 votes

Uh, marksmen don't go against melee champs, so your argument is indeed invalid. You're complaining about an issue that doesn't exist. Any bruiser or assassin actually shits all over nearly every ranged champion, because that's their purpose.

JedenVojak1 votes

Even not taking into account that you're already wrong in this statement both in bottom lane (Mordekaiser Leona Braum Alistar BlitzcrankTaric ) and top lane (Teemo Quinn Vayne Gnar ), the fact that melee champions aren't played bottom with more regularity demonstrates the issue more than any individual matchup - so no, the point is not invalid, as the general case of laning as melee vs ranged is so detrimental that melee avoids laning bottom lane at all.

NiceTryVi1 votes

In the bot lane, they are tanks and not meant to be walking up, but there to protect the marksman. So no, you're wrong there. And in top lane, all 4 of those are out of meta. Melee avoids laning bottom because, shocker, marksmen are capable of dropping physical damage from far away consistently, while most melee champions that aren't bruisers or tanks do only burst damage, and are not as effective against champions that are. And in the event that ranged is played in the toplane, which is kinda rare, Quinn is the only one that has a winrate noticeably high, at 53%. And she is played at less than a .75% playrate. So again, your argument is invalid.

JedenVojak1 votes

{quoted} Bunch o stuff...

me: Ranged vs melee is so consistantly oppressive that melee has to be overtuned to be able to compete, because ranged just shuts melee down.

you: No you're completely wrong, because melee doesn't lane against ranged.

me: First, that's factually inaccurate, here's some examples; also, melee can't lane against ranged because they're so oppressive - the fact that they don't regularly lane against ranged more often is proof of this.

you: Those melees in bot lane are supports so that doesn't count, also those ranged top laners aren't meta right now. Also ranged can just shoot melee from range consistantly so melees don't lane bot lane, duuuh. Therefore you're completely wrong!

The melee champs which you describe, the ones which people ban and feel oppressed by all fill a somewhat similar paradigm - they're very mobile bursty champs. Melee didn't use to be this way, you know, they used to be much more like Garen and Gangplank and Nasus - sluggish champs with maybe a speed buff in their kit. Why do you think this is the case?

I'll give you a hint, it began with Ashe.

I didn't twist your argument because you never had one to begin with. Your only "argument" was to avoid the point entirely, even though on a fundamental level you actually agree with me, and simply dismiss anything else which contradicted your statements.

I don't, because there always seemed to be a go-to Boot Enchantment and even though there was some diversity the go-to boot enchantment made matches seem pretty boring in that aspect because basically everyone had it.

Also, I think general mobility of Champions is in a good spot right now. I don't think it would be a good idea to upset that balance by allowing everyone to get more.

For captain you have item 2138 For furor you have item 3044 Homeguards is added automatically past 20 and for alacrity you have item 3113 and item 3086, if you are a tank the closest thing is item 3742.

They got removed and replaced with items effects, getting them back again would be redundant since it will probably stack with current options.

Used to Furor and item 3078 Alacrity and item 3086 item 2138 why use this ever when you are the slowest character on your team and 5 auto attack with item 2140 will give you more in fight hp not hampered by% Damage and item 2139 will help solv your bad mana pool problem and provide steady true damage.
