Global suggestions for descreasing toxicity of community.

Hello! First of all I want to say toxicity is a habit. In life if we're mad or angry we're not telling people around us how bad they are. When new players are coming into game they found that toxicity is a common thing. And they're starting rage too. I like new chat restricitons - it works. I'm very toxic player and had about 5 chat restrictions (and 3 chat bans before new system was made). And I found when you're limited for 3 messages - you'll start thinking "Is that thing really important and worth my limited message?" and now I'm swearing much less.

Next thing that I like was ribbons. In early days when that thing was just implemented behaviour of most players drastically changed. There were players who begged for honor, but before that they were playing and talking good anyway. Imho getting ribbon was too hard so people stopped paying attention on honor.

Then was "Teamwork OP" video. <3. But I think it wasn't really effective because we see toxicity in every game while we can watch this video only on YouTube. And I think while whole idea was great, structure of video was wrong. People don't believe in numbers 54% winrate for teamwork and 46% winrate with for flamer in team. To get this percents people must play thousands of games, because low amount of games won't show this percents, and players understanding that. And imho people dont believe in medium numbers - this player has 75% winratio, another 50%, third 37%, all of them were kind and polite so they get medium 54% winrate.

So we see - Riot was trying different things to make communite more healthy and descreas toxicity.

I think if we want to change community Riot must use a comprehensive approach:

  1. Chat restrictions - already working.

  2. Honor crests - still can be useful, but I think it should be more achievable and ribbons is not enough. It must be a thing that can reminds to player right after he enters LoL that he's a "Leader" and motivates him to keep his behavior. And there is must be a title - so every time player see honor crest he will read this title and that will give much deeper feeling. It must be "he's a Leader" or "he's Wisdom". Not like "he wears ribbon with greed gem". Nothing will stop players from begging and trading honor and there is nothing we can do about that, but if you begging without bringing something positive in gameplay, I doubt you will get honor. Some honor discriptions must be correlated with another social engineering things. Now "Helpful" honor is not working at all, because people not able to get advices - in toxic community any advice is regarded as an insult. So we must enter in players minds idea "advice is good - teammate wants to help you", if we want make "Helpful" crest useful. At same time crests have to describe equal in-game things and be equal. There is much easier to be friendly than give advices, so this crests are unequal, and as result "Helpful" is more valuable crest than "Friendly".

  3. Loading game messages. This messages telling to us curious stories what Piltover is or what Nautilus joke is. I think there is can be motivation words too: "There is no enemies in your team." (read somewhere that negative words doesn't work, so we probably should fix it); "Show them you are best in this role.". And some advices: "If your teammate losing lane - don't curse him, we all have bad days. This will be much butter if you help him or give advice." To be honest I had more ideas of motivation words before I started to write this post =D

  4. Reasons of flaming. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/champions-gameplay/rwIpjWkM-disbalance-in-ranked-picksroles. If someone takes your position, and losing it - it's a lot of emotions. Half of problem was fixed in previous item (If your teammate losing lane...) another half is on game designers - different roles must have same speed of growing in ranked.

Sorry for mistakes and wall of text, this is my second post on board.
