Ideas for Veigar's new E and a new W.

Last night I watched my brother in law playing veigar on the PBE and while I have to change my statement that Q is useless (actually pretty cool now that I got to see it in action.) His W and E just feel so much out of place in his kit now.

His E in it's current PBE state is completely unreliable as a stun. It is, for all intensive purposes, an over glorified zoning tool. That just happens to punish people if they walk into it. Riot's statement was they wanted you to trap someone inside so they feel helpless like Veigar is in control. But what really winds up happening is if he gets close enough to ult and the enemy does die, he does.

So, what can be done about his E? I have a few ideas and one that come to mind is a damage amp depending on how many people he can cage. Let's say for example when one person is caught inside the E all of veigar's damage to targets inside the Zone are amplified by 10% Increasing by 5% for everyother champion caught inside. While a 30% damage increase sounds op, keep in mind he would have to essentially trap an entire enemy team inside his E, and now with the delay and warning particles, that becomes quite a feat to accomplish.

Another idea would be to give his W a charge up mechanic(Think Varus' arrow) When he lays down his W it slowly starts to increase in size and damage up to double it's regular AoE and instead of doing 1.0 ap scaling it goes up to 1.2. Just to match his stun I say let the charge up take up to 2.5 seconds to reach it's climax. So what you could essentially do is trap your target and proceed to drop a standard W or let it charge and increase your damage and chances of doing more damage to offset your now missing .2 ult scaling. Which would allow for more counterplay and allow for better interactions with Veigar's helpless victims while retaining an actual use for his W instead of it now being a farm mechanic. Also if you want to balance this out further you could make his instant drop of W only be .75 scaling and a max charged W 1.2.

These are just a few ideas I had off the top of my head to help keep him in a viable state. As it stands his W feels like a pointless skill outside of team fights and his E just feels like a wasted stat. There is no point in putting more than 1 point into it until everything else is max leveled.

I'm not completely fond of the first idea, as it may seem like a small buff, but lets take a moment to think about Veigar with only a 20% AP increase. (RIP DFG)

I like the second idea, but it shouldn't be scaling 1-1.2, because then it would do more damage than his ult. It would be better if the charge was as follows (or something similar):

1 second charge = 0.4 ap scaling 2 second charge = 0.6 ap scaling 3 second charge = 0.8 ap scaling 4 second charge = 1.0 ap scaling

PS, I don't know if you're talking about the current Veigar or the new one, but his E is insanely important to level up, as the stun time increases with the levels. Not to mention your W can scare somebody off OR get a kill if timed right in a chase, and lands almost every time when the player is stunned, depending on if they have Mercury Treads or not.

The new one, it's not worth leveling by what i've seen. You'll hardly be landing it and if you do by chance get lucky you have a 50/50 chance of there being minion waves to block Q. And I could honestly see the W doing more damage than his ult since it's a timed Attack.

Also at level 5 his baleful strike does more damage than his Ult.

Okay, so you're talking about the new one. I had a bit of confusion there. I tried it out on the PBE, and it is in fact useless. I haven't tried it yet, but I imagine maxing your w second would probably be better. Also, his Q doesn't have the "plus 80% of the enemy's ap" effect, not to mention the AP scaling is a lot less.

I know his Q doesn't but with the ult being the way it is it's not as reliable in terms of bursting someone down so I think IMO that hitting someone with Q is imperative to his kit now.
