Don't Piss Off A Mountain: AD Malphite Top
Alright, so, first off, I know how wierd this seems. They did just stop his W from granting AD, and he has no AD Scalings, but beneath the hood, his AD capability is higher than ever. Here are a few reasons.
- His W Splash Damage now affects his Original Target, meaning that whoever you AA, is also being hit by the W Damage.
- His W Damage Can Critically Strike. This means, that for all intents and purposes, given that you have no AD scalings in your kit, your W increases your AD, and deals AoE. It also means that your Critical Strikes while your W is active, are greatly increased in power.
- There is currently a neat Animation Trick with Malphite W that you can utilize when activating it. If you activate W as you begin an Auto Attack, you will instantly attack, causing Malphite to seemingly swing upwards. This lets you negate the delay in attacking caused by the animation of his W, and get a really quick burst of damage. This feels very similar to an Auto Attack Reset, except it just immediately (or just very quickly) deals damage of your Attack. This is really useful in AD Malphite especially.
4) Malphite can AA targets on the way up from being knocked up by his ult, and usually again as they land. This means that you can usually deal a large amount of damage before the opponent can even react. This usually lets you just slam into the enemy backline, and kill their carry before they can collapse or peel.
Onto how I am building him currently: I usually start Flask, unless I'm starting a camp, in which I start Doran's Blade. I build Shiv first if I feel safe in lane, or rush a Glacial Shroud beforehand if I am taking a lot of damage and am having trouble. After that, I build a Frozen Heart, furthering my tankiness and W & E damage, while also providing a much needed mana pool upgrade. I then build a Tri-force for the burst potential and all around power, and then tanking out. This makes your Instant Auto with the Animation trick deal a ton of damage very quickly, while also having the resilience to get take a few hits as you assault the backline. This build is pretty strong, and a whole lot of fun and I just wanted to see what others thought of it, and if anyone had any ideas on how to improve it. I am currently tuning Runes+Masteries, of which I'll post when I figure them out.
What are your thoughts?

I wouldn't call this an AD build.
