AD champs and minions

So AP champions use abilities to attack their opponents, while most of the AD champs, especially ADcarries use basic attacks, isn't unfair that minions attack those ADcarries and they don't attack AP champs? since basic attacks are what ADcarries are based on... and please don't jump and start laughing at me because i am defending ADcarries, i am mid laner main, just asking since it doesn't seem fair.

Well it's moreso just ranged vs melee, with it being unfair for melee to lane against ranged in just about every way.

AP champions still last hit with autoattacks

The point is basic attacks are not gated by anything, you can use them at any time for no cost. Meanwhile, most abilities will have cooldown, cost and/or some counterplay (like being a skillshot). That's why additional protection from basic attacks is needed.

It is important to note that this doesn't apply only to ranged basic attacks - in most melee matchups minion aggression is what keeps the more dominant laner from completely zoning the other.
