Do you know how many people are low silver level in gold that just got lucky in placements, played a couple games, got gold and went back to normals?
A minority because that requires you to go at least 7/3, which is quite rare by luck alone. Almost everybody in the skill range of silver will go 6/4, 5/5 or 4/6 because that's how averages work.
I also say this as an extreme outlier, at the start of the season I went 2/8 and placed G3 (from 100LP G1 last season) with G4 MMR. I didn't get fucked over by the matchmaking system, I got unlucky and played poorly. This is what small samples can do though, for most players they won't but there'll always be outliers.
This system is very luck based, that is a fact, sure some people earn it, but some people don't. Stop thinking you're hot shit just cause you're plat.
It's only luckbased over very small periods of time. Over longer periods luck is actually weighed in your favour. An example of this is AFKs, if you're a player who never AFKs then just by statistics you should see more AFKs on the enemy team, there's 4 slots for them on your team and 5 on the enemy team, that's a 56% chance that the AFKs are on the enemy team.
The same logic works for feeders, boosted players and well above average players who carry games. Obviously the last one is detrimental to you but if you're actually an above average player for your elo you should offset this anyway by giving your team a much greater than 55% chance of having a strong player.
Hell, I just saw a guy who laughed at me cause he was G3 with a 55% WR, but played like 60 games. As if 5 more wins than losses meant something.
You're hitting on my point here inadvertently. I don't give a fuck if you're +5 wins, what I care about is the long term. 500 games at a 52% winrate is better than 50 at a 55% winrate. Obviously very extreme winrates don't factor into this as much, a 90% winrate is a 90% winrate regardless of games played for example.
When people say that match making's rigged against them they're just making an excuse for poor play. There's no rigging of the matchmaking system, it favours you.
I just like to call out what amounts to whining about nothing when I see it in hopes that one person will understand what they're doing and use it as an opportunity to actually improve. I see so many people mindlessly grinding in whatever rank and not actually looking to improve their play because they blame some other situation that they can't control. Just to make this completely clear this doesn't apply to the guy with a 45% winrate over 20 games, it applies to the guy with a 45% winrate over 200 or more games.
