Increasing veigar's reliability without removing "counterplay"

Even though I thought veigar was healthy before as he was basically an assassin - mage who excelled at... you got it... assassination. With these amazing "compensation buffs" (oooh boy I can farm AP 2x as much now!!! that will make up for all the farm that I miss when I'm dead because of my nerfs!!) that Veigar got he's just become a laughing stock among players and basically a free win for the enemy team. First of all he became weaker after DFG removal... then he becomes weaker after his "compensation", no shit he's going to become useless. So I have compiled some decent ideas to make him at least a bit more reliable, while still keeping this illusion that Riot claims is counterplay.

  1. One of my favorites that many people have suggested: His cage insta stuns at the point on the circle closest to veigar and has a delay that increases as the circle completes. Boom, he won't get blown up by assassins any more and it fixes the massive 1000 range stun that he had before. Sounds amazing.

  2. An iffy one, but hey... anything to help veigar. The cage is now targeted on a champion (or even a minion, that would be interesting), its instant, so they are guaranteed to get stuck inside the cage, and seems to fit Riots goal for "trapping your opponent in a cage for Veigar to torment".

  3. This is meh... The pillars of the cage insta stun and the ring around it has a delay... That would require veigar to have some more finesse with his cage, but still can be an insta stun.

  4. This is okay. Increase the speed/aoe of his meteor, because without his cage his meteor becomes a glorified farming tool which is already what his Q is, and his Q is nearly better in every way especially with the double hit.

  5. This is by far the best: Give veigar back his old cage nuff said.

What do you think of this for a re worked stun.

First. Reduce the stun at max rank. 2.0-2.25 is plenty, favoring the first option. Second, turn it into a linear skill shot. But have the circle have a small central pillar. What I think would be great is that he shoots an orb, similar to his q, that stops at the first enemy hit (minion or champion) after making contact, it will cause the event horizon to erupt. Giving the full circle with the center pillar stunning the target hit by the initial skill shot. Maybe you could even make it reactivate able in order for him to cause his cage to trigger wherever the orb currently is. Like a velkoz q or lissandra claw. I like this because it allows veigar to stun someone directly on top of him, gives warning to the enemy champion with its travel time, and still can be used creatively. You could even give the circumference portion of the circle the .75 sec delay and only have the center pillar stun immediately.
