NA east/NA west

I know this has been a pressing topic for Zileans of years, which is why I really want to get an honest answer whether we will ever get NA east/west servers. I know it isn't easy at all, but any sort of indication of when this MIGHT happen, or a simple "never" would really be nice xD

I would really like to know

Upvoted for the Zilean Pun and the question, however Riot has been dodging this question for a long time now and I would be surprised if they actually decided to answer it now. This massive East Coast thread on forums barely got any attention from them and that had over 1k pages.

IIRC, this server upgrade is stage 1 of their 3 stage plan to finally improve connection across the NA server, culminating in a new server somewhere more central to greatly improve the ping of east coasters.

Just accept that its coming "Soon™"

Just another way of saying " Shutup and we'll do it when we feel like it."

:/

It's a simple never.

Never There is no #FairPlayingField If there is Then why is Rito avoiding their East Coast customer's 6-year-long request? I remembered one Rioter posted in 2009 that "That is a problem we're tryna fix. COMING SOOOOON!" xd soon = 100 years

.... At the time this thread was made, the detailed post of what was happening might not have been out. You have no excuse however.

  1. Riot's road map involves them doing something no other gaming company has done. To start with, you need to understand that the biggest factor in ping isn't the distance, but the number of ISP routers your traffic goes through. Riot is basically bypassing parts of the internet, cutting down on the number of routers your League traffic has to go through. This is expected to get wrapped up in March if I remember right.
  2. Because Riot is redesigning how the internet works for League, it changes where an ideal East Coast/Central server location would be. Again, the geographical center doesn't mean anything in this discussion. Simply put, setting up that server now would only make your connection to it slower by March.
  3. There have been East Coast players who have already started to see progress made, lowering their ping by about 30. That's with out all the pieces in place.
  4. The server relocation is already scheduled to take place after Riot finishes these internet changes. They've stated it repeatedly. I suspect that the server relocation will happen before the ranked season is up.

It sits at 120 ping, and doesn't budge.
