I'm a scrub, a terrible player.... but why... ( complaint about ahri's Q )

RainbowIcee··1 votes·569 views

why does ahri have a build in phase in her Q? she has 3 gap closers as an ult. Her Q does a very large amount of damage, it pierces, it's a long skill shot. It comes back to damage again. And as i understand it.. it can also heal. So how come it gives her free movement speed if she hits minions? this makes it severely annoying to catch her. Am I crazy to think that's too much power and utility for 1 ability to have? Shouldn't that movement speed be if she hits a champion not anything? it doesn't even cast like Cass's Q. It just fly's out

Every 9 spell hits(max 3 per spell) her next spell will heal for each hit. Best used on Q as it can hit the most times. It in itself doesn't heal.

I wouldn't call it long range. Moreso mid range in terms of spell distance. Long range would be Lux, vel, xerath, zigs.

The damage is split up between going both ways. Avoiding one direction is usually easy, only the more skilled ahri's can move around to land both vs a skilled enough player.

Overall damage in her kit isn't that impressive.

I'm not saying she's OP strong damage wise.. i'm saying the sheer amount of utility she has.. it's a bit over the top to give her that much movement speed or even movement speed at all for hitting minions with her Q.

I always find she's a bitch to lane against, but I don't think she's OP. She is so, so squishy, and her skillshots aren't too difficult to dodge.

I'm not saying GIT GUD, but you probably just need more practice playing against her. The hardest lesson I learned was to disengage as hard as possible once she pops ult, and don't try to face her until it's down.

The best time to fight her, imo, is immediately after she blows cd on her charm, I've found, though that might not work against all of them.

If we could get an Ahri main to weigh in on what they find obnoxious when playing as her, that'd be good.

Oh yeah, I wasn't considering specific champ select b/c I don't know what the OP uses, but she definitely gets outranged. A cautious mage exploiting range advantage well can keep her at too low hp to engage safely.

Hm. I usually don't have an issue playing against that, but that's probably because I play really passively and reactively. I usually hoard mana, saving it for when a poke is really open and obvious, and keep the minion wave close to my tower instead of pushing it up. Simply not giving early kills to a strong carry, like Ahri, Kat, or Akali, is one of the most underrated, useful things a struggling player can do in league. If their Kat is 0/0/0 at 15min, I'm honoring my mid.

What champs do you usually end up using against her? We could probably offer more specific advice then.

ahri isn't that kill/gold dependent as akali and kat though

Is she really? I'll admit I don't know much about her, only that my "don't die early" strat rarely fails me. Like, it backfires hard if you are a bit too passive, and you just let them have free farm.

She doesn't get movespeed for hitting minions, she get's movespeed at any time that her orb is away from her. She doesn't have to hit anything, and if she runs away from the direction she threw it she'll keep the movespeed longer since it will take the orb longer to return.

And yes, she does deserve the power since she was balanced not long ago and then took huge nerfs where they took a ton of damage away from her, and they gave her the movespeed on q as compensation.

The movespeed buff was given to her as compensation for the removal of dfg and the 20% damage amp on her charm. Her q only deals good damage if it hits you from both directions. More so on the return. A 140 base damage. 35 ap ratio by itself is far from good. Also her q is only 880 range. That's mid tier at best. Long range would be a xerath q 1450 range. She doesn't need to hit minions to get the movespeed buff, she gets it anytime she casts her q. Also all of her abilities can heal her if she has enough passive stacks. Think beiber compensation buffs but without destroying her
