Why are ADC's so weak early on?

What was riots intention of making every adc a late game carry if many games end at twenty-thirty minutes and never see full build? Also, with mordekaiser doing tons of damage and leaving a team with literally no ranged champions.. why do adc's even exist? There's proof of an all melee team dominating a meta team comp with no issues.

Edit: why the low movespeed and terrible stats? literally any toplaner/jungle can beat any adc lvl 1

A Master yi with 355 movespeed and a gap closer that makes him invulnerable vs a sivir with only auto attacks and 325 movespeed and her q has no chance of kiting in my opinion

So you're saying 80% of the community doesnt matter seeing as most players are bronze/silver/gold elo and see plenty of master yi

I really think Vayne is an exception here because of her massive true damage, utility and mobility she has. most other adcs are immobile have some utility and are good for destroying tanks. And honestly bronze adc's are terrible let's be honest half of them can't kite at all.

I dislike using pro play for an example because they abuse OP champions and playstyles to get the best team comp possible. That's why we saw cinderhulk top for awhile when it would be considered abnormal usually

It completely depends on the adc you are talking about

They're still moderately weak compared to the large pool of champions there are

I can't think of one melee champ who could take an ADC at level 1

tryndamere if he crits and starts with his spin to win

luckmallory2 votes

so your answer is a champion who depends on random crits? lol and no he would not win the adc would just orb walk him after he spun. Not to mention if it was vayne or something like that they would orb walk you and can tumble out of your spin. As a tryndamere main i can promise you that bullshit cheese only works on melee champions

35% chance isn't too random, and orb walking only works so well early if the melee has more movespeed and a gap close. Not to mention trynd's base stats are great. Nocturne could do it too with his q, fiora q allows her to stick on to people enough to do it, darius gets bonus movespeed for hitting them. There are plenty of dangerous melees that can beat adc's 1v1 early. You say you'll just kite, i say what if you can't?

vayne also has 53 base AD

Why are ADC's so weak early on?

The term "carry" is from DotA terminolgoy, and it means a champion that's so weak early their team needs to carry them, but they scale so strongly late they can return the favor.

With Attack Damage Carries - the notion they're weak early and strong late after picking up a lot of attack damage is spelled out in their title.

What was riots intention of making every adc a late game carry if many games end at twenty-thirty minutes and never see full build?

Average game length is more ~33 minutes, and for every 20-something minute game there's usually a fourthy-something game to balance it out.

On this note, a 3 major item build (item 3031 item 3046 item 3035 ) is usually the point a late-game champion is going to be really strong. Late-game champions don't need to fill out all 6 slots, it's usually just a matter of getting 3.

Also, with mordekaiser doing tons of damage and leaving a team with literally no ranged champions.. why do adc's even exist? There's proof of an all melee team dominating a meta team comp with no issues.

There's so many things wrong with this statement...

Morde was just reworked to where he is now. Being able to pull something off doesn't completely invalidate the alternatives. And all melee comps are still as risky as an all support comp or all mage comp. It's not the best idea to willfully peruse, there are some serious drawbacks.

It can be done.

But probability does not favor all melee champions vs. ADCs at level 1.

Minion aggro and towers are particularly harmful to melee champions, and can be easily evaded as anyone with range. Range also allows some pretty safe CS+Harass combo potential, where melee range leaves a champion quite susceptible to harass. This usually makes the inverse of your statement true. Caitlyn is one of the strongest level 1 champions in the game.

MS only differs by 30 points from slowest to fastest, ranging from 325 to 355. Compare Yi to Ashe and Ashe is still moving at 91% the speed of Yi. Most Marksman are more in the 330335 range and most melees in the 340~345 range as well.

MissFortune has more HP than Shen from base stats. Like MS - most base stats only differ by ~10% when comparing melee to range. Terrible is a very missleading word to discribe base stats on an ADC. If someone has a noteworthy stat lead at level 1 - that's runes and masteries 9 times out of 10.

Except AA range. That's usually a 125 to 550 difference, where one is 440% larger than the other. It's also worth noting range is one of those things that can obviously break games if it scales the same way HP/AD does - and it's worth thinking of it as an area rather than a radius, in which case 550 compared to 125 offers influence in a zone over 19 times as large.

Movement speed is arguably thought better of as an Area over a Radius as well - but in that case Yi has a ~20% larger zone of influence than Ashe.

You realise that most games will lack either a mage, or an assassin, or a traditional support, or a bruiser, or even a tank, right? It being possible for an ADC to not feature in every single team every does not make them weak.
