The new AP items: 99 ways to build glass cannon

Khristophoros··2 votes·638 views

Morellonomicon effectively was split into 3 items, each focused on damage and CDR. All 3 of them are cool items but ultimately glass cannon just like Morellonomicon was.

There are some health options but late game it doesn't help you survive in most situations. So these items you just buy for their utility or damage as well.

RoA is the only option that gives you some health sustain but it's a joke compared to what AD champions can get from lifesteal and death's dance.

To get any meaningful durability you have to get items with 0 AP like Abyssal or maybe a Deadman's Plate I guess.

I mean, all we have is Hourglass and a bunch of glass cannon items, some of which have minor utility. That sums up mage itemization.

item 3102 item 3040 item 3157

Mages are meant to have some emergency mitigation more than sustain, it is their tradeoff for having the crowd control, AoE damage and utility ADCs lack, and the range fighters lack.

ADCs tend to be useless by themselves or if behind, unless very fed. Mages can be useful by themselves or when behind.

Seraph's is HP except you have to rush a Tear to get it.

I forgot to mention Banshee's in my post but it doesn't really do much. It's one of the easiest things for opponents to pop before fights, or just pop with something weak at the start of a fight.

The only thing that is really effective is Hourglass but it's on a long CD and it's not always effective in every situation.

Seraph has a massive shield active.

and yet its so damn strong and cheap even ap champs with no ad scaling can troll build that and carry..

I really hope you're not talking about voyboy's Ad leblanc. Adcs arent the problem, supports are.

right becuase when the sdupport is dead and the adc 1v5 and still 1v3 it's certainly the "support" thats the issue..

supports are fine, the healing and healing may be a bit too strong but thst becuase damage is so damn high

ADC itemization is a lot better because they have all these defensive and sustain options everywhere.

Phantom Dancer, Bloodthirster, Death's Dance, Mercurial Scimitar, Maw, BotRK, GA

Depending on the situation you can buy 2-3 of those items to greatly boost your overall survivability.

I wish i could build those items realistically. but after 3 crit items and boots we have 2 slots and no armor pen. so dominik's or reminder take that slot. so now we have one item slot. and 99% of the time is has to be GA or merc. I build triforce on vayne cuz ima lil shit but its not optimal.

Well first of all you could just stop buying Trinity Force.

You only need armor pen if the enemy frontline is really tanky. In that case you probably don't need as much defense.

You have options it just depends on the enemy team comp. If the enemy team has 2 assassins you probably aren't thinking "GOD I NEED THAT ARMOR PEN SO BAD RIGHT NOW"

its actually a VAST improvement to what we had before. as we now have four viabale ap+ hp items not gated by actives... where as before we had ONE and even it was gated slightly.

Literally all we have is HP and it doesn't do anything.

Nah... while true I appreciate any change that let's me call my mid-mage an APC once more and that's a good step onto that direction.

I mean, yea, but one defensive item fits pretty well into almost ANY AP build.

item 3060 is a solid choice that a lot of people don't think about either!

item 3193 is super underrated, and synergizes extremely well with item 3157 .
