Riot should learn from Smite for the AP item changes
I didn't think I would ever say this, but Smite just did what Riot doesn't plan to do (at least to my knowledge), and that is a complete Mage item overhaul (they just plan to do a small pass next patch or two). If you've ever played Smite, you would know that Smite's item system is pretty much identical as League's. In the next patch, Smite is changing Mage items to be more satisfying to build, including their version of Rabadon's Deathcap, Rod of Tahuti. Rod of Tahuti in its current state is a copy-paste of League's Deathcap, it shares the same stat and passive. Rod of Tahuti, just as Deathcap, is a poor design, being pretty much core and mandatory to every mage in the game (since Hi-Rez never nerfed it into the ground as Riot did with Deathcap), so it's being redesigned as a executioner-type item, where it gives you more damage when the enemy is below 50%. I'm not saying this is entirely good design, as it could have its fair share of problems, but it at least has now a niche over other items. I think Riot should take note from this and rework Deathcap to have a new passive. Note that I'm not saying they should copy the same passive as Rod of Tahuti, but just rework it to have a niche, since in its current state it's either a must-have or too expensive to fit in your build. That's just one example of an AP item with problems: Liandry's stats and passive are all over the place (health for survivability, flat pen for anti-squishy damage, burn passive for anti-tank damage) and Morello's freaking overloaded. Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwlT-L8CgwI This video talks about Rod of Tahuti from Smite, but you could simply swap every time the guy says "Rod of Tahuti" with "Rabadon's Deathcap" and it would be the same thing
