Soraka, a decent champion in the wrong meta.

Soraka : Taste the Bananas

Currently, Soraka doesn't get much play (compared to other supports). Her play style and kit are decent, but they aren't great. I feel this is because while she is a good healer, healers are only really good against metas that favor poke comps. She really doesn't have anything for high mobility, diving champs, because her e is too late acting. Thus, I thought of an ability that would turn her into a great support.

I have always thought that, while stars are necessarily a part of her lore, Starfall doesn't make much thematic sense. I thought cosmic beings and stars were supposed to be benevolent and passive. Also, in her lore, it talks about her using a spell that blasted the two combatants away from each other, yet she has never had such an ability in game.

That in mind, I thought that this ability might be a better fit:

Q: Peaceful Separation- Cost: 75 Mana; Cooldown: (25,22,19,16,13) seconds; Ability Type: Targeted Spell, with AoE around target; Range: 450; AoE Radius: 200; Knockback Distance: 300; Knockback Duration: 1 second;

Soraka sends a powerful blast of energy around target ally, knocking back enemies around that ally. If an enemy champion was hit by this spell, Soraka removes all cc affecting that ally as well.

Obviously, this would mean that Soraka would need to lose the health cost on her W as she has no health return, but if you are worried that her heal would become too powerful on such a low cooldown, just make the mana cost scale if the ability has been used too often in a short time.

I like soraka in combination with nidalee and maybe jayce poke before teamfight while having sustain for days

If her E could damage monsters, she'd actually make a pretty decent jungler.

And I still don't understand why she can't heal herself anymore... or why it takes her health away (yes, her Q restores it... but it doesn't make sense).

I think they wanted to implement a way for her to heal someone quickly, but they wanted a trade off. I think it's the wrong kinda trade off. Like if it was scaling mana, where its mana cost is doubled for the second cast in 5 seconds, tripled for the third cast, etc. that would work because it would allow her the chance to heal the hell out of someone, but she can't do it forever.

And she would lack her main source of cc, and her damaging spell... and she couldn't ult (at least that's still pretty damn strong).

Still, imagine her as a jungler. Bruisers are popular because "gotta carry this team," but support junglers are seen in higher tiers of play and in premades.

How would she lose her ult? I didn't say anything about that.

Her Q right now is a bad ability. Yeah, it deals damage, but it doesn't make her good at all. Think of Janna. You are never going to deal even respectable amounts of damage with her. For her, it's all about utility, yet she is consistently either a God tier or Uber tier support. The same should be true of Soraka. Utility for the team before damage.

I heard old Soraka can be player jungler... but I don't think the new one can...

I agree about your Idea that E could damage minions and monsters and make W passive heal also on LARGE jungle monster... maybe we can see Soraka jungler again...

for W active it makes you not to build health (limiting sustain to only Armor and MR) since after some point the healing is less than the health loss (except build some high AP)... better make (since health loss is 10% her max) so make it (4%/5%/6%/7%/8% her max health + flat amount (reduced from live) + AP scaling (no change))

for W healing passive don't know about leave as it is or change into (%missing health + flat amount (reduced from live) + AP scaling)

Soraka needs auto lock skills. She's pretty much useless in every game scenario.

I think right now, yes. If the meta ever shifts to poke comps, like teams with Ziggs or Jayce, she would be fine.

No thx, I play soraka because she have a decent wave clear. her Q deal the dmg I need to cover a lane and hold against a split pusher.

On top of that, she already have an aoe that force the opponent to either walk back or get rooted. She don't need another one.

@tripleDee, If built correclty you always maintain you heal between 1.5-2.5x the health spent at every point in the game.

Her E: is far too late in reacting. When an enemy Assassin jumps on top of your ally, if you are Soraka, you might as well just watch. Her Ult and W just delay the inevitable, and her E will protect your ally after the root pops, which is far too late. A knockback would give her the necessary peel to accurately disrupt an enemy assassin and give you time to utilize your E, at which point your ally would be able to run away or turn around and fight.

Her Dedesign (a downgrade of a redesign) is inherently flawed and that's why she isn't picked. She doesn't do anything fun compared to some supports and she she lacks the utility (peel) of others. Compared to her older form she's more annoying to play and is harder to do trades as a support in spite of riot trying to make her more active. I also feel like she's been dumbed down, they lowered her skill floor to spamming W and basing which is as passive as it gets, and there's almost no options in how you level her compared to her former form. Before the dedesign I often started her E so I could trade better from level 1. Can't do that anymore, E sucks. There's no point taking Q at level 1 because you won't get the heal until you level W and you can't max Q first because it costs too much mana. However there's no point taking W at level 1 because you can't heal yourself until you get Q at 2.

I think her biggest issue is because of how her W works and how she lost reliability on her Q and E she's a bigger liability in bot when it comes to trades.
