Thoughts on an ultimate: Grants all nearby allies a strong but rapidly-decaying shield. Too boring?

Sounds simple enough, and it'd certainly have practical use if item 3190 is any indication. But would this kind of ultimate be too boring to put on a Champion?

Was just watching some Overwatch gameplay previews (specifically Lucio) and was wondering whether or not Riot would want to put such an ult onto a future support, or whether it'd be redundant/unneeded/etc.

What you have described here is a full Ap mantraed karma e. It's a good idea, but to be honest kinda weak for an ulti.

people would just wait till it wore off, unless that guys really good at timing to block huge burst damage
