With regards to weekly free champion rotation...

I have no idea how viable this is or if you'd have to make a few tweaks to make it work, but I think it'd be awesome, if say, on Christmas week (or Kwanzaa, or Hanukkah, or Festivus, etc) you guys had fun with the free champion rotation, and made it Dragonslayers versus Pentakill.

example:

Dragonslayer Pantheon Dragonslayer Braum Dragonslayer Vayne Dragonslayer Jarvan IV Boneclaw Shyvana (she counts lol) Pentakill Karthus Pentakill Sona Pentakill Yorick Pentakill Olaf Pentakill Mordekaiser

And anyone using the free to play champs that week automatically defaulted to the dragonslayer/pentakill version.

Alternatively, the Commando set is complete at 5 champions... Commando Lux Commando Jarvan IV Commando Galio Commando Garen Commando Xin Zhao

and the Battlecast set is incredibly popular... and even growing. Creator Viktor Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath Battlecast Urgot Battlecast Xerath Battlecast Vel'Koz and the upcoming Battlecast Skarner and Battlecast Kog'Maw and Battlecast Teemo.

The pool party set is cool, but might not fit with the winter theme, unless you spend your winters where it's warmer. Pool Party Renekton Pool Party Lee Sin Pool Party Graves Pool Party Leona Pool Party Ziggs

There are 4 headhunters, plenty of blood themed skins, some arcade, some debonairs and heartseekers, and other stuff.

Or you could be Taric truly outrageous and use skins from the vault...

wouldnt really be fair to the people who actually bought those skins, though

Why not? They keep the skin after this short, brief time. Doesn't really take much from them.

Why not? They keep the skin after this short, brief time. Doesn't really take much from them.

2 reasons:

  1. Champions are an integral part of gameplay. The free rotation is to help people become acquainted with all champions without forcing them to buy. This allows Riot to keep the IP system without it being unfair to new players.

  2. Because unlike champions, you can't acquire skins with IP. When I buy a skin I do it for two reasons. One is to support Riot, but the other is because I want to be unique when I play games (and because I enjoy the particular skin that I purchased). A free skin rotation would invalidate that unique feeling completely, especially if it became a more consistent thing. It would also discourage people from supporting Riot because they would always have a few skins to choose from every week.

I didn't imply that it would become a regular thing. Just a simple special event thing where you get to play around with the skins for a week, and at the same time, you get the opportunity (maybe) to see how effective those coordinated teams actually are. You can only get so much out of buying a skin. You can't buy pentakill skins and let your teammates borrow them temporarily. As an owner of a few cool skins I'd love to see the rest of the team outfitted appropriately, and it would be awesome to see the whole band together in uniform.

I'm not sure of the effectiveness of these, but I thin it brings up a very interesting point. What if Riot did a free week skin as well. Those being different from the 10 champs on free week. This way to promote skins and get people to actually use them. This would exclude any skin you can't buy though. It think it would be interesting with so many skins you could cycle them through and get players to try skins they may want to buy.
