Why play Ekko instead of Diana?

So I'm not trying to start any drama but I just bought Ekko because I was looking for a new main. I know ekko has a safer kit, but he does nowhere near as much damage as diana. I couldn't get snowballed with Ekko because I did no damage after I combo'd an enemy (even when I took ignite). His ult does do dmg, but it's very situational and you can't use it unless it's in the right spot.

So are there ekko players online to tell me why he may be a better pick than diana?

Better set up for a dive, he does more dmg than diana if you land ult but its really more of an escape tool. Meaning that ekko 1-5 is as strong but with 6 you really wont be hitting anyone with your ult so dueling potential after that goes down

He's simply harder to play than Diana. I think Ekko is better than her because he also has good AoE damage if you land his ultimate correctly, which is obviously hard to do. Just keep practising and you'll be fine.

Diana is more feast/famine, and its hard for her to ramp up. Ekko is generally more bulky, has an AoE Stun, and his ult is one of the strongest in the game. Diana also has no escape, which is problematic.

Not an Ekko player but he's fairly low-risk. Just harass with Phase Dive, then go all-in post-6, score a kill, and gain back almost 100% health with ult. Oh, and his blinks go right through any projectile. Only way to defeat him is with hard CC if you pick second.
