Tri-force/Tank vs Cleaver/Iceborn/Tank on Nasus

Just curious what some peoples thoughts are on this. I played a game with this combo recently and I felt it worked out phenomenally.

  • Full cdr with 2 items
  • Extra Peel/CC from Iceborn passive
  • Extra armor shred for your Carries from Cleaver Passive (after chunking squishy enemy with Q of course)
  • Excuse to start armor vs AD opponent while still getting sheen proc item

I know it's not without it's flaws (and maybe a situational build, just got out of a loosing game where people were calling it garbage) but I've legitimately experienced some success with it as well. I feel like it gives me more to do in a late game fight then just...

"Okay Lay down E... Q the closest squishy... Put down a slow on the assassin that's getting too close to our Jinx... okay now Ult in hopes of surviving the fight afterwards..."

That being said Id like to repeat that I'm open to people hearing different opinions.

IBG/BC/Tank build is good against a tanky comp. It makes your 1v1/1v2 slightly better. Triforce/Tank is better against a squishy comp.

Black Cleaver isn't really worthwhile on Nasus since you have no way to stack it aside from autoattacks. Considering his E was changed to provide percentage armor reduction, it is even less useful than it used to be.

If you want to increase your damage, Sterak's Gage is probably your best option. It increases the damage dealt by your autoattacks and Spellblade while providing a significant shield during fights.

Blade of the Ruined King (if built after 3+ defensive items) might be situationally useful for dueling durable opponents (at the cost of your own durability in teamfights). I'd only really consider it if you are splitpushing.

That said, I feel like your core build should be roughly along the lines of: item 3009 or item 3047 or item 3111 item 3025 item 3065 item 3075

Afterwards, you can build your situational items depending on the in-game situation and enemy team.

i wouldn't bother with cleaver.

if you want a second damage item then I would either get item 3812 or item 3142. maybe a different lifesteal item like bork or bt, but dd has cdr so it's pretty nice

lethality is very nice on nasus because of the % shred on his E now, and ghostblade is effectively a mini-ghost

Nasus doesn't stack Cleaver well at all.

ever thought about item 3116 for your E for more cc?

item 3094 for that extended Q range.
