Opinion of a Mordekaiser main on his VGU
As far as it goes next VGU after swain is a toplaner, and it was leaked that it wasn't Mordekaiser, which means the VGU team is still trying to figure what are they going to do about bot lane Mordekaiser.
I wanted to share the opinion of some Mordekaiser players as there is in EUW a "circle" of bot lane mordekaiser mains in master tier/diamond1
patch 5.14, mordekaiser got reworked into a bot laner. The reason explained by CertainlyT was because (i quote) "An excessive number of his lane matchups are determined either at champion select or through jungler intervention, not through the relative skill of Mordekaiser and his lane opponent. As I began to work on his mechanics though, the thing that stood out was how defined Mordekaiser was by those stark strengths and weaknesses. To round out his kit would have been to compromise him as a champion."
the solution to rework mordekaiser without changing his kit was to put him bot, where outplaying his support would make mordekaiser unable to engage and lose the 2v2 match up
While this was a good idea to make Morde healthy in general, Riot plans to completly change Mordekaiser's kit in order to make him healthy in solo lane. With this, the explination of certainlyT no longer justifies anything for Morde to be a bot laner which is Meddler said that wether Morde's duolane mechanics should stay or not is a debate.
i would like to put here some reasons about why Mordekaiser being able to go bot can improve the game
-First, it has an indepth strategy. If the team is Full AD, you can pick Morde and bring magic damage. If they have more than one Diver/assassin, you can pick a tanky pick to counter them -Second, Bot lane is the lane where Mordekaiser can be considered as THE CARRY by his team. Most players in high elo play around the ADC, supports but also junglers (they tend to camp bot more and play around dragon), and in teamfight the entire team has their attention on their ADC. Mordekaiser taking this place is the best thing that can happen to a juggernaut. Juggernauts are nothing but walking damage column, if the team can play around them, enable them, it makes them able to carry the game. Unlike Toplane, where they will play the role of frontlines and won't be able to catch anyone while being the first target to die. This is the reason why a lot of high elo Mordekaiser players i know prefer to play him bot, you just want to be the carry. -Allows bruiser mains to be able to play Bot lane. You know this "i'm autofilled and main top" thing, well it won't be a problem anymore if bruiser mains have a bruiser that they can play bot lane and suit well with their playstyle. -Can open Bot lane to more melee picks. Mordekaiser gets countered by Jax (currently) which means you might want to pick Jax bot against him and this brings diversity. Currently you can't because you will get out-leveled by his XP passive
i really hope that the VGU team will keep Bot lane morde as a playstyle, because please realise that there are still Mordekaiser players that love this playstyle
if you do, then please consider this: -Harvester of sorrow (if the spell remains the same) healing is extremely good, PLEASE KEEP IT! healing alliess enhance mordekaiser's niche of countering divers as he will make his allies surviving diver's burst -XP passive is boring, uninspired, i hope it gets changed. please remove it for an other power budget. It's something that mordekaiser players do not care about and play a little impact, without saying that it gives him an unfair advantage over other melees in duo lane. -Dragon ghost, while is cool is not really a good idea IMO. Simply because it makes Mordekaiser binary (gets dragon=gg, lose dragon=welp) and snowbally (gets more power from dragon than other champions). CertainlyT created it to make Mordekaiser able to siege, but today a lot of non-ADC can siege like mages making morde's dragon unnecessary. Dragon ghost is hard to comment, a lot of Mordekaiser mains would love it to be kept but from a design point i don't know if it's healthy -Giving bonus ms to allies should have a visual effect imo, there is one but you can't really see it, you should make your allies knowing that you're giving them bonus movement speed
if i can give my opinion on what needs to be changed in his VGU: -Iron man, this is really hard to balance and makes mordekaiser's base stats low -Q is fine in my opinion, this current version of x3+x3+x6 is healthy unlike the previous x1+x3+x9 -E is totally boring and used 24/7 when you have it, change it please -Ult has way too much power in the clone, i would love if you shift some from the clone to mordekaiser's kit itself
