I'm going to destroy the ENTIRE board with a single thread

KONO RUBICK DA··139 votes·6,323 views

Disclaimer: i'm not a yasuo main in any way, i didn't play yasuo since at least 2 years, hell even more a desperate attempt of ad hominem is pointless

See i reached the maximum level of what i can bear about the ignorance of board with this thread that reached 400 upvotes just by asking people to permaban yasuo

So i'm going to say it straight in one way and not dance around the subject you ban yasuo because you suck Yasuo is never banned in high elo, you can watch any stream and see if yasuo is banned., he may be op even in high elo but he's not more broken than Ivern Lulu Xayah Vladimir Caitlyn LeeSin .

"stfu, i don't ban yasuo because he's broken, but because he's unfun to play again" just fuck off, this entire sentence does not make any sense

at least 80% of this champion roster is unfun to play against, no one is going to help you to destroy the nexus except your entire team and yourself you don't ban yasuo because he's unfun, you ban yasuo because you just don't know how to deal with him and then instead of trying to find out a way you ban him and call him unfun because you refuse to learn the game you think that the game will adapt to you, that everything will change depending on how you like it or not

tell me that i'm wrong ROFL, tell me that i'm wrong when one thousand billion thread of "why yasuo has this, why yasuo has that" pop every fcking minute to farm upvotes? so yeah sit here a second, i'm going to teach you a lesson of league of legends featuring why yasuo has this, why yasuo has that here it comes

"but professor Rubick, why yasuo has double crit passive?"

see little child, yasuo is what we call A CARRY every carry in this game has something called a bloody steroid to deal damage and do wha they're supposed to do if your carry has no steroid then he sucks (old Ashe )

yasuo steroid is his double crit in exchange of losing crit damage (yes it's a thing!) if you were to remove his steroid you would have to buff EVERY SINGLE OF HIS DAMAGE, and then what do we got boys? what do we get? a bruiser! not caring to buy a single stat of a carry and just rush full bruiser items

"what about his passive shield"

see in league, the creators of this game did not want to give you clunky mechanics to help melee champions that are inhertly weaker due to going in melee. turn rates in league we're free of turn rates, we can turn instantly and kite everyone, additionally few champions have visible cast times either they cast spells instantly or most of them have a generic 0.25 sec cast time. but this has a price

remember what melee carry was viable before yasuo? that's right, NO ONE. because they had dota2 lvl of kit except pre-rework Jax (straight forward with little amount of power in kit) and then sucked because there was no reasons to pick them over ranged champions then yasuo came, and had everything to work his passive shield, his mobility (both base MS and dash) are here to make him work without blowing up because he has to comit into 100 range to do damage beside, certainlyt already said that his shield has a drawback Yasuo's base stats were trashed as a compensation to give him a window of power that is his shield he doesn't have mr/lvl, he has a freaking 500+80 hp/lvl when yi has 600+92 hp /lvl and it's not only yasuo Jax has dodge, bonus armor/mr Fiora has tons of healing due to building lifesteal+passive+ult, has also her W which is a fuck you to everything including CC Gangplank gets a free cleanse+healing on low cd once he stacks CDR, the champion is also naturally half ranged half melee Tryndamere cannot die for 5 sec and has a heal

"why does yasuo have armor pen on his ult?"

because he doesn't have true damage if we take in account updated melee carry that received a rework, you will notice that they have: true damage armor pen %hp damage some of them have mixt of those Gangplank true damage, armor pen Fiora true damge, %hp damage MasterYi true damage, %hp damage with item 3153 that he builds way more often than yasuo and can use better with passive

melee carry needs anti-tank steroids to not build item 3035 because if they do, they're going to be insanely squishy the only one that builds it is Gangplank because he doesn't give a fuck about tankiness when he fights half of the time from range

"hm... what about his utility like windwall?why does he have it?"

http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/gameplay/dev-blog-making-yasuos-wind-wall explained very well through logic by CertainlyT

"what's the counterplay to windwall"

what's the counterplay to Tryndamere ult? what's the counterplay to Fiora W? what's the counterplay to Gangplank oranges? YOU PLAY AROUND IT that's the counterplay last time i checked windwall doesn't stun you, doesn't force you to attack and doesn't have 0 sec cd and lasts for 1500 year

"why does he gain more power with attack speed than other champions?"

because he gains less power than other champions with CDR you have the choise, either his Q cd is reduced by attack speed, or his Q cd is 5/4/3/2/1 second to not prevent him from doing his job INCLUDING, that it can be reduced by CDR, which means it's going to be even less with CDR and windwall huge cd is going to be reduced because yes this change was made to prevent yasuo from stacking CDR if he stacks cdr then windwall cd will be decreased, then balancing Yasuo utility and damage will become a nightmare yasuo is going to build item 3071 provide even more utility to him team, and god knows what next. to prevent this, yasuo Q and E are independant from CDR and only dependant from a stat that yasuo is sure to buy everytime which is attack speed

"but his early game is too strong for his late game"

first his late game is worse than any melee carry because of Crit penality damage, and you can check his win rate over duration for this and compare it to riven or other shit if i remember well trynd and yi go to 60% win rate in late game when yasuo is like 54%

second yasuo early game is garbage yes you heard it right Yasuo early game past lvl 2 becomes the early game of a typical carry He's going to survive because he has tools to survive like any melee carry (gp fiora trynd vayne jinx anyone) But he's going to be absolutly demolished by any bruiser in an all in

Yasuo is only strong at lvl 1 or 2, because he gets his powerspike earlier power budget wise because W is an utility spell and is useless in 1v1, and because he's manaless and has low cd spells (4 sec). On the COMPLETE OPPOSITE Renekton Riven Rumble Irelia Shen Aatrox and 90% of the toplane roster needs lvl 3 to work, they need 3 abilities to have 100% of their 1v1 unlocked and thus, irelia for instance will destroy the shit out of yasuo in 1v1 Irelia between lvl 3 and lvl 4 doubles her true damage from 15 to 30 damage per hit which is a total of 150 true damage (Q applies it) with 5 hits meanwhile yasuo cannot and will never be able to deal as much damage, while having worse base stats (i think irelia has like 600 base hp and 62 base ad)

Moral of this entire freaking story

Yasuo in any way is not broken, you tell yourself that you don't find yasuo broken but if 50 threads of yasuo are upvoted and reach hot page everyday i think this means that you find him broken. He's not and you're just incompetent. I do NOT BLAME YOU FOR BEING INCOMPETENT AGAINST YASUO, however i'm disgusted by your attitude of not wanting to learn the game. the game is challenging and has many depths to find, and you just refuse to search any way to deal with him and just want to ban him you can ban him i don't care, but from now we're going to do one thing and you will all stop posting one yasuo thread per minute because this is starting to make board as boring as vampire diaries

i made this thread while losing my faith into curiosity of people and was disgusted by their laziness you can downvote me, you can mark me as your enemy, but i don't care of how many enemies i have

I mean, as far as I'm seeing from your post "he's not perma banned in high elo, so he's not too strong! You're trash. What? You just think he's annoying in your opinion? Your opinion is stupid fuck you, you're trash." and then goes on to explain why he's a viable melee carry compared to others.

I don't think he's OP but he is annoying to lane against, and in terms of counterplay it's "either you're a champ that has something built in to deal with him, or you're not." That's fine and all, but still leads to annoyances in fighting him. And you really have no right to tell people that they shouldn't be annoyed with him and are "bad" for being annoyed by him.

-I'm also going to bring up a few counter points while I'm at it.-

"He has weaker late game scaling than other melee carries." - Possibly, but since games are forced to be short 9 times out of 10 now, that doesn't matter as much. Just saying.

you're using ban rates to determine balance Why? Yeah it's usually an indicator of strength, but 6 (soon to be a chance at 10) out of 136 being banned doesn't really leave room to ban ALL the problem champs ALL the time. Saying a champ not being perma banned somewhere makes them balanced is pretty stupid in my opinion.

People complain about his crit scaling, because historically when crit is a strong option Yasuo breaks it hard.

People complain about windwall because it's hitbox is obnoxious in a lot of cases, and it's interaction with some skills is annoying. nami ulti comes to mind I'm not saying he doesn't NEED it, I'm saying it's going to bring rage and could possibly use some tweaks to make it less so while keeping it useful. My opinion.

Fondling Gems35 votes

So I am just going to point out the one big flaw I have with your whole argument, and it is your point in response to this: "stfu, i don't ban yasuo because he's broken, but because he's unfun to play again"

just fuck off, this entire sentence does not make any sense

at least 80% of this champion roster is unfun to play against, no one is going to help you to destroy the nexus except your entire team and yourself you don't ban yasuo because he's unfun, you ban yasuo because you just don't know how to deal with him and then instead of trying to find out a way you ban him and call him unfun because you refuse to learn the game

See, I DO enjoy playing against most champions. Just because you have an idea of what is fun doesn't mean that is how everyone else perceives fun. I enjoy getting to interact and play around another person, regardless of who wins or who has the advantage. I challenge your statement of "80% of the roster is unfun to play against" with this statement.

"For me every champion is fun to play against." I negate your point and your entire argument because you didn't stop to think that others might have other ideas of fun than you. Now I ban Lee Sin a lot. Not because I don't enjoy fighting Lee Sin, but because I find that I have MORE fun when the jg diversity gets shaken up a bit, when I get time to interact with my laner without having to constantly worry that Lee will jump out and 100-0 me.

I enjoy playing against Lee just like how I enjoy playing against other champions. I DON'T enjoy the frequency in which Lee stops me from getting to play against other champions due to his powerful ganking presence. I enjoy 1v1's against my laner and the jungler. I also enjoy when multiple people get into fights and they break out. I don't enjoy how Lee forces me to play as though I am in a 1v2 because I feel like it removes my agency as a player.

So yes, I can and will ban whomever I choose. Not because I hate them, or can't play against them, but because I am a real person capable of thought and I ban based around my preferences, not yours or anyone else's.

How about you get off your high horse and realize that what I and others choose to ban doesn't make us bad at the game. We ban who we want to for our reasons, and since YOU DON'T KNOW what those reasons are, you are in no position to judge us.

I will ban Yasuo, or Lee, or Aatrox if I feel it will make the game more fun for the people in it. Sometimes that means banning OP champs. Sometimes that means banning champs my teammates aren't comfortable fighting. Other times I ban champs because they are bad matchups for my allies, or because they counter our comp.

I get your reaction to the mentioned thread, however if someone doesn't enjoy playing vs a champ then they should ban them. They have their ban and you will have yours. Treating people like children because of a decision they made, when you know nothing about why they choose to make that decision, just makes you seem like a child.

Sorry if I came off as rude, but saying people who ban Yasuo automatically suck isn't any better than the people you revile. Stop being a hypocrite and take a moment to think about why people might actually ban him. I can think of 3 very good reasons off the top of my head, one of which is the reason I used to ban him. If you can show enough reasoning to guess one of them then I might lend what you say a bit more credit instead of dismissing the rest of your post as easily as you dismissed over 400 people.

Welp, I guess its time to be brutally honest. I'm just a terrible player and according to this post an ignorant child and a terrible person, I can accept that. Ya know, this entire post is one of the biggest reasons I hate Yasuo so much. I just say I don't like fighting him and what's the response I get? SHUT THE FUCK UP YOUR BAD AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD YOU SACK OF SHIT! The reason i hate him so much is because he's so polarizing. You either love him with all your heart and will defend him thick and thin. Or you hate seeing him and would rather just ban him entirely than to fight him at all. There's no middle ground, I don't think I've seen any post on the boards, people in game, youtubers, etc. who think that Yasuo is just "meh". And because of that everyone becomes so hostile whenever he is mentioned anywhere. Sure I ban Yasuo does that make me mentally slow, baby choking murderer? No. Does it make people who play him mentally slow baby choking murderers? No. It'd be nice if people weren't constantly tearing each others throats about because this dash-happy man. But alas, I'm just not gud enough to speak on the level of people who can CS even with him, so I guess I should just shut the fuck up and find a shit sack to roll around in. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Play the champion once or twice in normals.

I'v played a decent amount of yasuo & it def helps when playing against him.

This works for almost every champion. If you can predict the optimal play/route they have you can avoid it.

Sp33d Zer012 votes

I ban Yasuo because his windwall shuts down my roster of champions. Depending on where the teamfight happens, he can completely zone me out without even touching me for 4 seconds, and trying to get into a position to fight puts me in his melee range.

I ban Yasuo because I am tired of seeing him in every game, and would rather deal with op picks than a stagnated champion roster (also why I ban Lee sin and Jhin during the lethality patch).

I don't ban Yasuo because he is OP, or because he always fotm to hate. I ban yasuo because it gives me a competitive edge in my games as an ADC.

Broken doesnt mean OP. And broken doesnt literally mean "absolutely zero counterplay".

Yasuo's windwall is a broken mechanic. Can you play around it? Sure - like how you used to play around pre-rework Yorick's ghouls, AP Yi's 400% AP Heal channel, pre-rework Fiora's ult, Kassadin/Leblanc/Talon's silence, or even dodge chance. Doesnt mean that its interactive to play against, fun, or good for the game.

People dont know how to deal with Yasuo? Well, I dont know what to say about that. Yasuos winrate goes from moderate in Bronze to pretty high in Master. I guess the best ranked players in the game just dont know how to deal with Yasuo, right? And when Yasuo's winrate is in the dumpster and the best chance for a win is to have Yasuo on the enemy team, thats not knowing how to deal with Yasuo, right? If people permaban Yasuo even when he is trash, then its a problem with the champion.

Wolfeur11 votes

what's the counterplay to Tryndamere ult?

Locking him with CC, putting DoTs so that he dies once the ult wears off.

what's the counterplay to Fiora W?

Bait it, it can only parry for 0.75 s and does not remove pass-through projectiles.

what's the counterplay to Gangplank oranges?

Multiple CCs in the comp, don't rely on single long CCs like Morgana binding. Or use knock-ups. Use them as engages, so that the heal isn't too strong.

As for Yasuo's Windwall:

  1. It can be cast preventively, because it lasts 4 s.
  2. It can be cast reactively, because it's instantaneous.
  3. It's extremely forgiving, because it starts from Yasuo's position, protecting him technically all around him.
  4. It completely negates every projectile, whatever the effect is.
  • Negates pass-through projectiles.
  • Negates harmless projectiles too.
  • Negates autoattacks, preventing life steal.
  • Negates spells that rely on hitting/bouncing.
  • Stops temporary items created by champions (dark spheres, feathers), removing most of their zoning power.
  1. Stops projectiles from every direction.
  2. Yasuo being more mobile than most champions means he'll always be on the other side from you.
  3. Attacking the wall doesn't remove it nor even shorten its duration.
  4. It is very large once upgraded, and protects a whole team.
  5. It doesn't affect allies.
  6. It doesn't lock Yasuo in any way, nor consume any resource.

No kiddo, it's because seeing the the champion gives me negative gameplay expirience, so I ban it.

The vast majority of the playerbase: "I hate playing against Yasuo because it feels shitty to have an event champion completely change how I play the laning phase when I'm still trying to solidify my mechanics and decision making, especially when he's a late-night scaling pubstomper on the level of old Master Yi. It just feels shitty to have a champion negate the value of my good (for my overall skill level) fubdamentals."

It does make sense, a ban is there for you to ban champions you do not want to face. Whether they are op or not. I personally ban Yasuo because of 2 reasons, i find him unfun to play against (Yes yes,go on call me trash, that is all you are good at). And because he has the Vayne sindrome, on your team he gets counterpicked and feeds the enemy, while on the enemy team he is a god.

Thefrostyviking6 votes

I am really confused, you claim that yasuo isn't getting banned, but where are you getting this from?

According to OP.GG he is the 11th most banned champion in plati and above, in Korea.

According to lolking his banrate varies a lot depening on Elo and region but the only one where he was never/very rarely picked or banned was Korea and EUW master and above.

In every single elo below master in every region besides Korea he had at least 20% banrate or more. the mentioned exception being Korea where he remains unpopular all the way down to platinum.

He's not getting banned in high elo? I object, he is, in 2 outa 4 regions he has a 17% banrate even in master.

And for the remaining two he had 28% in EUW diamond.

The only place where he truly does not get banned anywhere near high elo is Korea.

While i hold a good amount of respect for someone so well known for being reasonable on the boards as you are metal, i still can't help but question where you are getting those statistics from? :(

And then finally, i can only agree when you state that APDO hasn't made any statements on Yasuo since,...was it 2014 or 2015?

However has Yasuo since been really nerfed? Has he been changed? Has his items been changed?

I recall a small nerf on his E....that is about it.

And now Riot are even nerfing him...and yet you claim that he isnt hard to deal with?

I both disagree and agree.

While i do find early Yasuo fairly easy to handle, neither terribly oppressive or impossible to beat, i do find his item spikes insanely hard to deal with.

Cheap, strong and quick.

My issue with Yasuo is as simple as him being a good crit user with high speed, conditional mobility, CC and that god damm wall.

And his snowball is insane too, but that's far from what truly frustrates me either, because plenty of champs snowball hard.

While i don't actually mind him too much what really drives me to insanity at times is his wall. And a bit on his passive and ultimate interactions as well.

It makes ranged champions like ADC's and projectile mages utterly useless.

I can't even put into words how extremely damm frustrating it is to play against a Yasuo who is good at using his wall when playing a ranged champ. It's always extremely difficult to do anything against him and even if you finally do succeed in poking him he just drops a little on his shield before healing with warlord or something.

Or in teamfights where he dives in and seperates your team on opposite sides of the wall. This is one of the most gamebreaking abilities i have ever seen as a ADC and mage player.

Then for his ultimate.....

I don't mind damage, nor do i mind the CC.

What i do mind, is that it refreshes his shield, and positions him out of tower range or at least at the very edge the moment he ults you under tower.

I´ve had several cases with a Yasuo diving me with his ultimate, dashing in next to me underneth the tower and then just being teleported to the edge for the final damage and then getting out safely....while i remain suspended in the air next to the tower and taking damage before dying.

It's extremely tilting.

For such an powerful ability ,,,,it does not need the shield refresh and yet he does.

For the matchups when he is strong it's absolutely broken, for the ones where he is weak it's useless. Do i think it's balanced? No, not in the slightest.

And here is at least why i think the Korean's dont have any issue with him ,they are extremely good at counterpicks and being flexible. And their junglers know how to shut a rampaging one down.

But if you´ve already picked and Yasuo gets thrown in? And the jungler isn't good at dealing with him?

Prepare your backdoor because he has a ki.

(Sorry for the long post)

Void Kaiju5 votes

Admittedly, Yasuo is frustrating to play against simply due to how hard he spikes with his first two crit items. Even if put behind, a couple assists in a fight will net him a big increase in damage. That said, it would be ridiculous to expect him to remain at earlygame behind levels of damage for the rest of the game, and he's not even the worst offender for coming back from behind when given even the tiniest amount of slack (looking at you irelia+fiora). Yasuo was my most killed champion last season. You covered his earlygame power pretty well, but I do think his insane powerspike from each of his first two items is what makes people frustrated. If they couldn't beat him with 0 crit, his 50+ crit after getting one item from beating them will make it damn near impossible for them. His power growth is almost entirely in his first two items and people need to respect that.

I also think part of the issue is almost everything he does has counterplay. That means if he kills you solo, he was just better than you or you messed up hard. Rather than beat themselves up over failing to make use of the fallability of yasuos kit they call it BS and cry.

IMO in terms of fallability yasuo is to melee carries what sion is to tanks. Both can whiff their whole kit uselessly, nothing other than their auto attacks is handed to them and if they make a mistake they can be punished severely. (I suppose you could say yasuo dash is handed to him, but the damage from it isn't insane and he can put himself in a terrible position if he isn't careful.

Thanks for making something sane grace the frontpage.

PermabannedGaren5 votes

Anyway, good post. I think more people need to read the bit about laning power spikes in particular. Yasuo's early game is not good. He has a very strong level 1 and 2. That doesn't make his laning phase good, otherwise Wukong has a good early game for his very powerful level 2 all-in.

I don't ban yas because I agree there's better bans on the other hand I'm glad when someone else does and it's because Yas is just so goddamn binary. There's like no middle ground either he's worthless or impossible to kill and kills everyone on your team. That's really unfun. It doesn't help that he dodges skillshots and if he doesn't dodge them he blocks them and when he lands his you're disabled and dead shortly after. OR, he's weak and useless on your team cuz he's so far behind. Binary champs have always been cancer. Can I just say your attitude of if you ban him git gud you're trash is exceedingly like the exact things you claim to be against? Hypocrite much? sheesh.

With this post at least people can get a NEW realization that "So Yasuo does have counters, he is beatable, and oh yeah that's why he has Insert yasuo ability

So holy hell this thread gives me relief even though I know how to counter Yasuo already I've been a Yasuo main and my Experience with being me and a Yasuo main has been bad when I mention it to the Yasuo haters on the boards. I have had downvotes and trash talkers hit me with "Dirty Yasuo main, He's just a Scrub Yas pleb downvotes insues" "I basically wrote i beat my friend's Mains on Yasuo was all, not endnotes hate." Yasuo haters bash Yasuo mains the hardest (if there is any main out there hit harder reply and tell)

End of this statement. Ty Metal Malicious you bring reason logic and best of Equality through the amazing magic you do (yes it's just that appreciable) And I got some relief from seeing act of you helping a very hated fan base (that really doesn't lose it as much as these Yasuo haters.)

-Paperbase Yasuo main

Ps Even though this'll be at the bottom of thread it's best for you to notice it ^^

I've no problem with the champ himself (he's almost a trollpick in my elo), but he's uniquely annoying when I try to practise mid in norms. Sure it's probably because I'm trash at mid, and norms is full of rank 7 yasuos for whatever reason, but it seems like an uphill battle to not feed him, and even if you don't he just scales and murders your team. Seems like his powercurve is particularly suited to doing that, and his thematic means lots of people lots of people will want to.

I get the sense that his earlygame is a bit better than it should be compared to mages, and Riot does this on purpose to avoid recreating vayne mains with yasuo. It's not like we want our yasuos feeding in the first 5 minutes. Seems like high elo can still get around it, but pretty annoying to be trying to learn mid, outplay him in all the obvious ways (dodge Qs, not throw things at windwall, wiff his shield with an auto), and still somehow lose trades while he trades basically whenever he wants. As somebody who's trash in mid, this is the only thing I find insurmountably annoying there, and I think it's the main reason he gets so much hate.

Toplaners hate Riven , midlaners hate Leblanc, adcs hate Caitlyn.

Going by 2nd grade math, a champion who goes to 2 lanes is hates by twice as many people.
