Top laners and Aatrox, new champ designs, Riot and Esports

Yes Riot says they are going to fix it. But I just want to put out there what the problem really is.

Aatrox's lifesteal is dependent on Attack speed.

Meanwhile you get champions like Fiora with abilities like Riposte:

Fiora parries all incoming damage and disables for a short time, then stabs in a direction. This stab slows the first enemy champion hit, or stuns them if Fiora blocked an immobilizing effect with this ability.

Fiora parries all incoming damage, debuffs, and disables for the next 0.75 seconds and then stabs in the target direction.The stab deals 90/130/170/210/250 (+0) magic damage to the first enemy champion hit and slows their movement and attack speed by 50% for 1.5 seconds. If Fiora parries an immobilizing effect, Riposte stuns instead of slowing.

SO let me get this straight. She gets to block damage, deal damage, lowers movement AND attack speed while potentially stunning in ONE ability? Gee, wouldn't it be nice if Aatrox had ANY ability that countered any other fighter or champion? 1 second stun, after giving up 10 percent of health and a long cool down is sad consolation prize.

This is the problem. So many champion kits are overloaded. You can try to make Aatrox kit sound overloaded, but it really isn't--they aren't worded in the "if" "then" "but" method, the way champions who's abilities are very powerful.

Or take Nasus. Very simple much like Aatrox. His passive is "Gains lifesteal" His abilities are easy to understand and very straight forward. Q does damage. W slows and slows attack speed. E AOE. R extra health and AOE damage.

You can not describe many new champions or reworked champions in the manner that I did Nasus.

But lets go back to Aatrox. Literally, I think, every other fighter gets perks for simply attacking--they get movement speed from attacking, or they get free crits, or attack speed. Aatrox gets nothing other then what he builds by draining his own life, and the bonus is only ever 3rd hit. Garen gets armor pen. Renekton gets armor reduction. Poppy has like 4 shields. Olaf gets free resistances. Trynd is doing crits at like 50 percent at level 2. All of these are functionally better in game play than Aatrox's stupid passive. Aatrox doesn't get any of this free tenacity or resistances or burst of bonus health because he comes back to life. It makes him very weak, this stupid passive.

Is Aatrox's kit bad, or does Riot keep trying to overachieve with new champions and reworks, making abilities more complex and powerful, and more confusing?

Are they suffering from the fear that they have to keep doing more when they make a new champion, like overloaded Camille?

I'm sorry but I really don't think Riot cares about the state of the game. They only care about money. Which is fine, but don't pretend to be all about Esports and then make sponsorship hard for LCS teams, and put very little money into it. Don't talk about being the biggest and best when it takes 7 of the top LOL tournaments to equal the top DOTA 2 tournament in prize money.

You see fellas, we have all been taken for a ride by Riot--they sold us on a game that we believed we had a fair chance to win and could play champions we liked. But really that's not true. You have to play the OP champs to climb. You have to used the champions that have stupid amounts of CC to win team fights. You really don't get to pick...well, you get to pick from about 20 champions, while we all ban the same 10 in most matches.

You should all quit league. Marc Merrill is an ego maniac with average intelligence. If you question that, please go read his blog and decide for yourself.

Go learn to dance, play music, juggle, or learn a new language. Fuck Riot, fuck this game and especially fuck Marc Merrill. The piece of shit never even personally reads posts anyways. Too busy to read the opinions of the community that made him rich. Disgusting.
