Why don't people like SUPPORT?

I seriously don't understand it, I'm not a support main in anyway possible.

I was autofilled to support yesterday and was like, alright. I didn't mind, I bought Braum when he was on sale so I decided to play him.

It was so fun that I spam played him the rest of the night and plan on getting Santa Braum I even assisted my Jhin to get a pentakill, the first time i've actually assisted a penta! I loved it, we were a duo and his reaction was priceless.

Support can be so fun! Tahm, Braum, Blitz, Thresh, etc

Are such fun champs and I love them

I don't see why people dislike the class as they are some of the most fun champs i've ever played.

support is fun... if adc is actually really really good.

Because nobody wants to play "half a Champion" that is entirely reliant on their team to win.

That is why midlaners such as Brand are so popular as "Support" because they can carry after laning phase.

That made no sense at all..

What part of it don't you understand?

What he means is, if you are good at a champ like Janna/Soraka/Taric but you got a noob team, you don't do enough damage to kill stuff, break turrets etc..., since your team are supposedly too noob to do that for you despite you helping them to. If you play a damage champ like Brand, you feed yourself bot lane, and kill stuff that your team can't kill, and can actually hurt turrets with the AP you got (AP to magic damage autos vs turrets).

This gets even harder as you are supposed to give up even gold, making you even more weak, meaning you are neither tanky, nor have much AP, , making it hard to kill stuff on top of you being a champ that doesn't have the tools to do damage (Janna/Soraka/Taric type of supports).

However, a support-ish playstyle does not have to be only bot lane. I've been playing Shen in a solo lane while building utility items, which, being cheap means I have 4 big items by the time people finish 2, and if I help my team to get ahead early, the lead usually won't fall off with me watching their back. It does feel rewarding when successful, I can tell you that.

I would politely disagree that taric can't take a turret, his passive gives him huge turret taking potential

A little bit of AS doesn't really help unless you got the damage per hit to back it up, which you typically don't build unless you're either winning hard or not building support or both. Then again, I suppose I no longer play him since the rework so I wouldn't know.

Being behind in gold and levels for any other lane position is a mark of doing poorly. For a Support it is an inevitability.

Dominion had the right idea in that regard. It's gold and XP ticker kept everyone on similar footing unless they managed to go absolutely crazy on champion kills.

Because you rely on your team to do things, if they disagree and you do something you're gona have a bad time.

Yea, you rely on them to follow up

Support is fun for sure, but because of your lane partner or champion pick it will be less fun. Maybe its bad luck for me but finding more than my fair share of marksman that feel the need to tell me what I have to play or ban the support I hover because they want something else kinda kills the 'want to help this guy' mood. You kinda need a friend to queue with or you have a drasticly high chance of getting paired with someone like that.

I think one reason is the responsibility to support. You're there to protect your laner and then your team later.

There's a lot more to support than that, but people probably see it that way at first glance. Jungle has even more responsibility, but people can also just gank for selfish reasons.
