I started playing League in June

DJ Lucio·12/12/2016, 5:44:09 PM·41 votes·2,818 views

In these 6 months, i've acquired about 80-90 champions, 451 hours, and skins on most of my mains.

I don't regret a second of it, this is a great game.

Still not that enthused with ranked yet

EDIT: I love the responses of the people on boards, very nice! You guys are all too kind <3

EDIT #2: EDIT #2: To clarify how much RP i've spent. I've said this on a post in the pool of posts somewhere but I shall evaluate for you guys ;p

I've spent from my own pocket maybe 50$-75$ My local arcade, me being 16, I go to it because it's fun. My family enjoys it, now with me winning relatively decent jackpots, I can spend said tickets on amazon cards, psn cards, etc, which is how I get RP. To also clarify, I mainly only buy champs that are on sale, or if I truly truly can't wait, I'll maybe buy one for full price every month(s) or so. [slayer-jinx-catface]

I started playing back in season 1 and I still rarely play ranked. It's not something you have to play, I just like having fun in draft normals.

Also, I think you might be addicted. I don't even have 90 champions I don't think, and I was there for most of them's release.

As long as you have fun, that's all that really matters!

BladeSingularity12/12/2016, 10:49:36 PM3 votes

I didn't start ranked until about two months before season 6 ended. Started playing League mid-season 4.

Did my placement games. Got S5. Played 6-8 more games, lost most of them. Didn't play any more.

And I don't plan to play placements over holiday break atm.

TD;LR - if you're not a fan of ranked, IT'S OK! Not everyone plays it. You aren't required to. If you want to spend all your time on Normals, I don't fault you. The competitive nature of Ranked is a bit intense in my opinion. I like to play for fun, NOT to compete. So it's PERFECTLY FINE if you don't really care for Ranked.

Welcome to the community, friend!

That, uh, must have been a lot of money though.

Not that I can talk...

Just a heads up rito support is almost on par with comcasts or at&t. And those were ranked the 2 worst in the USA 3 years standing. I recommend not donating to this company. Sell boosts to get riot points dont spend money. Advice from the best

Played since end of S1 beginning of S2 (a bit before nocturne release iirc), played ranked a smidge in S2/S3, A little more after (ended up gold after, usually. Though S5 I could have climbed higher, but once I hit gold I-II I hated it). Hated Dynamic Queue and didn't really play much at all after solo queue removal (maybe an ARAM game here or there).

Decided to do some ranked this season... So far I hate my life.

I don't mind supporting (Usually my preferred role), but the shit people do makes me really sad. (split pushing when they have a decent Kha'zix, trying to end game when enemy death timers are coming up). Anytime I want to do "off-meta" supports people get mad for no reason (or just straight up troll).

And from what I can tell... the matchmaking this season is strange as fuck. One game I'm against Plats, next Silver V's, then a game with 2 enemy duo's (one player being diamond). I mean damn, I've played against Master players in normals but i'd think ranked would be better.

Maybe its the whole "We dropped everyone's previous MMR/pre-season MMR" and basically dumpstered everyones MMR idk.

But I really enjoy the back and forth games that are close (and it feels like it happens more often now than before). ARAMS are generally fun (until you get higher up), and playing with friends is always fun win or lose.

TL:DR Been playing a while so i'll say this. Play what you enjoy, don't sweat other people, if you want to improve look at yourself first and see what can be different or better.** Don't worry what other people think** (or rage).

Don't feel bad, below about Platinum ranked is absolute shit on average.

OFC, this is coming from a masochist who has all the champs and almost exclusively plays ARAM when not with friends, so take from it what you will.

I know I'm a bit late to the party in this thread but,

I've been around since early 2010 and I don't play ranked as my main game mode. You can enjoy the game a lot more if you just focus on having fun and improving casually in normal games. Plus you won't have the stress of feeling you have to grind ELO. I only play ranked with my friends, and throughout the year it adds up. I've reached Plat on two accounts for a few seasons just mainly queueing up for ranked when a friend asks.

But the rest of my time is confined to normals, ARAMs or even bots. (I actually really like Co-op vs AI when I'm tired or trying out a new champion/troll build.)

Any ways, glad you like the game! Just remember to not get burnt out on ranked and enjoy the normals fun.

WOW that's actually impressive. I started last September, considered myself to be a regular player until I saw this post. I only have about 529 hours and about 50 champions purchased (seriously, how do you have 90???)

Anyways, I'm happy you're enjoying the game, welcome to the League family!

I've been playing since april 2015 and have 68 champions... how much RP did you spend on champions?

Then again i do own mostly expensive 4800 or 6300 IP champions, i only own Taric and Tristana for 1350 IP champions, and i have 17000 IP lol.

I have spent 1509 hours on this game: http://wasted-on-lol.com/stats/na/dat500pingplayer/ , worth.

Unlucky4712/13/2016, 1:57:41 PM1 votes

League is the worst game i've ever played and I play it every day

Divine Irelia12/13/2016, 3:22:59 PM1 votes

Been playing since around July.

Have every champion in the game including Camille with loads of skins. I've gotten Dj sona three times from hextech chests and spirit guard udyr either 2 or 3 times as well, good disenchant fodder.

I have soulstealer vayne, elementalist lux and 8/10 gem stones for hextech annie.

I'm a sad sad person

Zeref12/13/2016, 5:41:11 PM1 votes

I've been playing on and off for a few years and only have 90 champions lmao

I've never bought champs with RP though and never will. Just farming it up slowly

Moody Jazz12/13/2016, 5:44:08 PM1 votes

Wait...Did you buy champs just with IP? I am playing for 3 years now and I have around 95 champs now. Weird...

Darkeus12/13/2016, 6:13:49 PM1 votes

I think I started playing towards the middle of August. Maybe end of July. I don't have that many hours and I need more champs. Lol.

Micbran12/13/2016, 7:59:56 PM1 votes

I've been playing since season 4 and I only have like 45 champions. 0_o

Protoform X12/13/2016, 10:39:19 PM1 votes

I have all but four of the champions right now, but I've been playing since midway through season 3 (I think Spirit Guard Udyr had just come out, because I spent years wishing I'd gotten those summoner's icons). I've paid RP for a few skins and a lot of Hextech Crafting materials, but never a champion. Instead, I compulsively go for a quick first win of the day IP bonus 9/10 days by playing beginner bots, since those games only take about 15 minutes and they allow me to figure out the basics of every champion's kit. Also, once Hextech Crafting started I went out of my way to buy every champ cheaper than 6300 IP. Once I did that I started buying champion shard tokens (or whatever they're called) and reshuffling them to save 1200 IP per champ unlocked. Unlocking them randomly has led to me still not owning Thresh, which recently went from unfortunate to frustrating when I got a Dark Star Thresh skin shard. SOON!!!!!!!!!

I've played ranked in each of the last three seasons but stopped very quickly for a variety of reasons each time. My goal this season is to maintain a steady presence in ranked over the whole season and climb up to gold. It might happen, but it also might not. If I follow my old pattern then I guess I'm just someone who isn't that enthused over ranked either. That's OK, normals, ARAM, and the occasional featured game mode are all amazing and will keep me coming back for a long time.

Atheon Jr12/12/2016, 7:24:08 PM1 votes

i started around when season 6 started! it's so addicting once you start playing, although the learning curve is freaking massive. and i still barely mess with ranked just like you, so i have around 1600 games in normal draft.

Who are your favorite champions?

invisiblecat112/12/2016, 8:40:08 PM1 votes

I have played so many games that if you were to play league games for a month straight without any breaks that STILL would not be enough days I need a life

Aeszarck12/12/2016, 9:05:33 PM1 votes

Hey, that's awesome! Reading your post makes me feel really happy. It's awesome to see someone who is new to the game love it so much and be willing to spend a ton of money on it, then also post on the Boards.

You remind me of my experience when I was new, which is funny, because I was recently compiling data on my Summoner in a document just in case I ever wanted to use the second step of Riot Games' Privacy Tool. My thought process was, "Better do it now before the data gets even harder to track down as I play more." So first I just made the document just using my memory, but then I decided to take a trek through my Match History to be sure of the order I bought my Champions in. Boy, was it a nostalgic experience. I saw so many memorable matches I had as a newbie, and it was really touching to see how far I have come since then, the fifth of April 2015. I also went through the Skin Sales Schedule to see when I bought all my Skins, which was also nostalgic, though not quite as touching as going through my entire Match History. I also decided to put down the other Skins that I didn't buy, which meant that I had to look through Riot's News for their giveaways and my Match History for the specific matches where I was gifted Skins. I also got a Skin from Hextech Crafting, but the Match where I got the last Key Fragment necessary to open the Hextech Chest was very memorable, so I was able to get a date on that Skin too. I know I don't need to have my entire purchase history of Champions and Skins to use Riot's Privacy Tool, but it's nice to look at and I figured that if I was going to go through the trouble of ordering my first five Champions and finding first RP purchase, I might as well do all of them.

So far, I have thirty-one Champions (thirteen of which were free), eight Rune Pages, and twenty-four Skins (eight gifted, one from Hextech Crafting). I've spent 1045 hours playing League of Legends - and I don't regret any of them!

If you want to hear about any of my memorable newbie matches or anything else (skin order, why did you buy/get those skins, champion order, why did you buy/get those champions), ask away!

Congrats. Best if luck on not becoming cynical like long term players seem to be.
