The Ahri fanboys and girls get in a twist and downvote every post

But she has the third highest playrate in midlane and retains a 54% winrate

Can engage and disengage in an instant while deleting someone if she charms them

such fun

Ahri's whole lane pattern is just stupid.

The problem with her is similar to Leblanc's where she has strong long ranged CC on top of Ridiculous non conditional Mobility

At level 6, an Ahri that doesn't suck can basically all in you at any point in lane and there is almost nothing you can do unless they are bad. And her pre-6 Has her throwing Q's constantly with 0 way for you to retaliate because of the Speedboost it gives her. In lane, her Ulti also acts as an effective second flash that you have to try to burn for jungle ganks.

She has the mobility and burst of an assassin with the CC and Burst pattern of a Burst Mage. Even MORE so than Leblanc.

Getting hit with 1 Charm means you are dead, which is fine on champs like Lux , Xerath etc who have to often risk positioning due to their immobility unless they see an opening, but Ahri usurps this weakness all together.

The first thing I would look into changing in her kit is her passive. it just feels like it is only there as a relic of the past and can make laning against her even more needlessly frustrating because what little harass you magically can get on her is erased just by her constantly harassing and running away with Q in lane.

I personally would change it all together, but for the sake of small changes, lets make it need less stacks to heal her , but only stack when she hits an enemy champion.

The second is I want her Q to require she actually hit an enemy champion to get the MS. This way, she is punishable if she misses and rewarded if she lands it.

Man she does not have anywhere near the burst of LB ._.

LB needs E-Q-W -ignite to kill someone taking only the time needed for E to activate. Ahri can only oneshot squishy under 80% granted that she hits everything and auto attacks. And unlike lux, xerath or syndra her range is short (besides the slow E) and all her spells besides Q can be blocked by minions.

If i were to rank them according to easy of play and strength i would not put Ahri high up. Because while she is safe from ganks at least she can't really impact teamfights without risking herself due to how her W and R find their targets. And she is meant to be good in skirmishes and roaming!

That is why she is weaker than say syndra or orianna in lane, because she can roam and get kills better. This is why taliyah was so popular, the reliability and damage of Orianna with conditionally stronger roaming than Ahri. You and others here all see her for her strengths while ignoring obvious weaknesses. And somehow people seem to think she has the burst of a syndra who was allowed to prepare which is also nonsense.

If she didn't have the Q movespeed then champs with long range poke would render her utterly useless, think about it! They can just poke from outside her range and she can't dodge. Because her base movementspeed is lowered in compensation for the speedup from Q.

However i do agree, with both ultimate and Q she is extremely hard to interact with and it's quite hard to do anything unless she wants to. This is frustrating but due to how Riot changed her back in S3 i don't know what to change in order to make her a bit more accesable without making her OP or weak . She is already unpopular among the pro players due to less burst than a assassin, shorter range than a normal mage and still as squishy along with the time needed to kill due to ultimate. And how difficult it is to impact teamfights like a normal mage would.

I don't see what the problem is tbh. She's a highly mobile mage assassin. She should be allowed to pop a squishy if she lands her CC. And she's squishy as sin herself. One good CC chain and she's dead. Just catch her after she uses her ult and attempts to re position herself to pop one of your carries. I guess if her winrate is too high they can tone her numbers down slightly but, unless I missed something in the recent patch notes, it's not like she's been buffed directly? Just play champs that counter her hard.

Anidan7 votes

Given how squishy she is, it's entirely likely that you don't even need a chain of CC. One of decent duration should do the trick.

BasedNerd10 votes

Pretty much. I just played a game as Ahri, and all it took was an Amumu ult and a bit of focus and I was dead. Like I said, if they need to adjust her numbers, sure, but to me people just need to pick the right champs against her

Anidan13 votes

This is the League boards: we can't expect a lot of the people here to pick for the situation because that means those champions they're picking into 'invalidate other champions' and that's bad design, despite the fact that I'm not sure how you make a new champion anymore and not make it incredibly hard for someone to fight you on even ground.

Bronze Bonanza19 votes

I could never figure out why they added the speedboost on her Q. She absolutely did not need it, and it would make it possible to actually trade with her on champions that don't outrange her.

Fondling Gems9 votes

Because Riot tried to solidify her identity as a kite mage, which is what she was originally meant to be. Her old charm + dfg made people play her as an assassin though. In all honesty I like her Q movespeed boost, I would rather see her kill pressure weakened, possible through E CD nerfs and weakened/changed passive. Rather than changing her back into a kill mage with mobility like any other number of champions like Kassadin, Ekko, LB, etc. I would rather see her solidified as a kite mage with more emphasis on shoving in a wave then roaming to other lanes like Talon rather than bursting people by Ult + E'ing into their face, which wouldn't change even with Q movespeed nerfs. That would just make it easier to push her out of lane and means she can only kill for a short time after getting back to lane.

SpongebobIsLife9 votes

but my thing is, is her kill pressure really that high that it needs to be looked at? I can think of several other champs mid taht have more kill pressure than her as well as out poking her. E already has a 10 plus second cd at rank one lol. idk, i've never had issues with ahri, playing as or against her.

Fondling Gems4 votes

I think it does because there are 3 conditions for winning a lane.

Outscaling/Outfarming: Aka becoming more useful in the late game. Ahri does decently here due to her decent waveclear which she needs to roam.

Killing: Killing your lane opponent, currently a good solid option for Ahri due to her ability to sustain through harass that her opponent can followed by ulting into their face with a strong all in.

Roaming: What Ahri's movespeed is built to do as well as kiting in fights. This is the direction Riot tried to push Ahri (Partially succeeding) and the direction I as an Ahri player think she should be pushed into as there aren't a lot of roaming mages.

Currently Ahri is decent to strong at all 3 of those, and due to her passive and a forbidden codex it is very difficult to push her out of lane without going oom or taking too much harass in return. As part of roaming she needs waveclear so she can push in then gank other lanes. That means that if she has to take a hit somewhere it needs to be at her laning power. That being said a small E nerf (soemthing like +2 seconds scaling down to normal at rank 5) or a passive nerf against her sustain is what she would probably need more than a damage nerf.

This is my input as an Ahri player myself.

SpongebobIsLife7 votes

i just don't think shes strong enough to the point where nerfs are warranted. I too am an ahri player.

Fondling Gems3 votes

In all honesty she feels very balanced to me but winrates don't lie. She is doing quite well despite having a large pickrate, which usually lowers a champion's winrate.

Brain Errör 4047 votes

No, it isn't. If they nerf her kill pressure anymore than i already is, you might as well delete the champion. She's not 100-0ing anyone full hp at lvl 6, so she's fine. It's not like a Syndra or Annie whose going to base, come back with a 2nd dorans then stomp you out of lane unless she hard counters you. Even then, it'll take a bit more finesse to do that than the other aforementioned champs.

I've rarely ever had problems with Ahri, and even when I go against one, the MOST annoying part about her is not being able to kill her -- it's rarely her pub stomping my team. Lol.

Jeanne fan club16 votes

The thing with Ahri is that the overwhelming majority of her statistical success come from her mains. This is similar to how old Zyra's 52%+ winrate was attributed solely to the few people with 125+ games. Ahri is a champion with a high amount of avg games played on her, so most of her stats will be from people who play her a significant amount.

I've been everywhere between silver 4 and D4, I can tell you from experience that most people go from playing Ahri to syndra, lux, oriana and katarina because they have significantly more reliable carry potential. Also a huge aspect of carrying in higher elos is a source of an aoe nuke. Ahri is more of a single target assassin due to her q being the only aoe source of damage in her kit, and even that is pretty unnoticeable in a teamfight.

Ahri has pretty low base values, making her pretty item dependent. Other popular champions like syndra lux and katarina all have higher base values than normal champions, and they all scale really hard into the late game. Ahri tends to fall off once a mr item comes out from the other team. Ahri can only 100-0 another champion if she gets some good ap, it really seems like the people in this board are only talking about fed Ahri's when it comes to damage.

Quit acting like Ahri is on the same tier as someone like vi, hecarim, kha, rengar, syndra, vayne or cait please, it is all too common for an Ahri to go something like 12-1 but not be able to win just because the other team picked better champions that Ahri cannot kill in 3 rotations of abilities.

I think the reason a lot of shit gets downvoted is because of the tone. I downvoted this one because of that "wahhh we can't post without being downvoted" yet you have 2 topics in the top 20 regarding her right now.

For the record. Yes, I main Ahri, but also yes, she could use a slight nerf.

angery pout12 votes

Ahri is a champion who relies on mobility to survive and is actually killable unlike the brokens at the moment (POPPY.)

The only reason her winrate is high is because champs with high pick potential naturally have high winrates. Blitzcrank and Anivia are two other examples of that. Ahri's high playrate is due to her being a fan favorite just like Yasuo (who is also a hard counter to Ahri.) The only time she was ever actually broken and could 100 to 0 you without using her full rotation was with her old charm and DFG.

She does not explicitly counter any champions other than immobiles (mostly ADCs, but also melees such as Darius and Garen who are easily kited,) but she is easily countered in a 1v1 situation by any champion with point and click burst, the ability to outplay/otherwise mitigate her charm, negate her mobility (cancelling dashes with displacement, Poppy W, apply slows during her Q animation.)

Her only targeted abillities are her W (locks onto the closest target) and her R (requires her to dash in rather than use her to use it to reposition for the return of Q, etc.) Before complaining about multiple dashes. A single projectile from one charge of Spirit Rush has a 30% AP ratio. Using all 3 to kill someone leaves her vulnerable to being turned on by their allies.

TLDR: Has high WR due to pick potential, which can win games even if they individual performed poorly earlier in the game. Her kit is easily outplayed by dodging 1 ability (charm) that enables the rest of her kit. If she uses 3 charges of Spirit Rush to run you down, she leaves herself vulnerable and without escape. She counters easily kited champions and champions with no way around her charm, mostly ADCs like Ashe. She is countered by point and click burst (no outplay from her) and anything that can nullify her charm.

Eedat10 votes

She has Sona syndrome. If she's too strong and you say something, a hundred DJ Sona icons tell you you're wrong and downvote you into oblivion

I honestly don't see where you're coming from. Her scalings are kinda ass, and you need charm(A slow skillshot blocked by minions) and her high CD ult to get assasinations.

LatetotheRace8 votes

She's pretty gross imo, ever since they tried to bs compensate for the loss of dfg. That speed boost is completely unjustified in her kit.

Anidan5 votes

I mean, they gave her that compensation, but left DFGaren out to dry. That ain't right.

Steelflame8 votes

Honestly, Ahri's damage by herself isn't the problem. It's the massive damage creep we have in league, Ahri struggles to 100-0, just barely slipping it in unless very fed, with a full sweep of her ult. Damage creep though has gotten her enough that she doesn't need to perfectly play for a 100-0, and she now has enough lee way that she can easily afford to blow ult charges to go in or get back out.

Good thing she has TL, a 100 AP Morello, and up to freaking +15% damage from masteries taking her from "just barely squeezing in a 100-0 if playing it perfectly" to "Lol, I miss 2 things, but don't matter with all the damage creep on items and masteries nowadays guys." 100 AP Morello gives her enough damage on her Q to fill in her waveclear needs, where before it wasn't enough to ensure a 1 shot on the backline, and needed just a bit more help after that.

Used to be if the enemy built any MR, they would pretty much automatically survive a full Ahri combo unless she had a 3+ level lead on them unless she landed every single possible hit. Which a mage landing every single part of their kit, including all 3 charges of the ult, is a fair trade for a kill. It left her open to be retaliated on unless she had made a pick on someone who was out solo, at which point the fact that she is an assassin who didn't have to blow her shit to gapcloser on you comes into play.

Riot needs to tune back the damage creep, bad.

Brain Errör 40411 votes

Wtf, nerf her already non-existent manapool? If Ahri tries to charm 3 times in lane before getting her mana items, she's already oom!

She's one of the few mages in the game that can actually still go oom.

Sraeg20135 votes

since the dfg removal (which nerfed her e btw) she received nothing but nerfs to her w, r and passive

classic shit talk all she got was ms from q and everyone goes dogshit about it xddd

Sraeg20136 votes

Classic shit talk?

Let's go, bad boy. All Ahri BALANCE changes since DFG removal.

V5.2

  • Orb of Deception Ahri now gains a massive movement speed boost while her orb is travelling that rapidly decays over time.
  • Fox-Fire Base damage increased to 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 from 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140. Orb targeting system will now attempt to acquire a new target if the original one is going to die from the previous orbs. Casting Fox-Fire no longer interferes with Ahri's basic attack animation. Slightly reduced the time between spell cast and the missile firing. Bug Fix: Fixed a rare bug where Ahri's third Fox-Fire wouldn't deal damage while her passive was active.
  • Charm Charmed targets no longer take +20% damage. Base damage increased to 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 from 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180. Ability power ratio increased to (+ 50% AP) from (+ 35% AP).
  • Spirit Rush Spirit Rush is now more forgiving when dashing through or over terrain.

V5.3

  • Orb of Deception Mana cost increased to 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 from 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 / 75.
  • Fox-Fire Base damage reduced to 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140 from 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 / 170. Orb rotation speed increased by around 30%. Acquisition range reduced to 550 from 650.
  • Spirit Rush Acquisition range reduced to 600 from 700.

V5.16

  • Essence Theft Healing reduced to 3 / 5 / 9 / 18 from 2 + level.

To sum it up.

  • Orb of Deception has higher mana cost.
  • Fox-Fire damage is unchanged, but now it's dealt 30% faster and range was lowered, roughly matching her basic attack range.
  • Charm got both base and scaling damage buff.
  • Heal's base value is nerfed pre-16 and at level 18 is whole 2 HP worse.

All of that, minus the 5.16 passive change, at the price of having 60% win-rate until the next patch.

She lost the damage amp, but still went 8% up in win-rate. Yeah, fuck that compensation.
