Please god dammit. Buy sightstone, don't take teleport, and stop trying to reinvent the meta by taking smite. I get it, support can get dull. But don't make life miserable for your team, just queue up as a different role for a few games. ESPECIALLY in ranked.

Yes, this is a QQ post. Just had a Nautilus support complaining about a fed enemy Kog'Maw, and how nothing could be done to stop them. When I mentioned exhaust, they insisted exhaust is useless and that teleport is better. I also keep getting these 'supports' who think wards are useless. Which is fine when I am jungling, I buy the ward item, gimp myself for the team. But when I am in any carry role, it really sucks having to spend money on wards.

Look, friends. I play support too! I play Leona, Soraka, Sona, Lux and occasionally Morgana. It's fair to say our role gets shit on a lot. But please for the love of god...

Not even supports get a free pass. If you are up to complain about Ashe buying Nashor's and Lichbane with teleport and smite. The same goes for Janna taking teleport and smite then building a Cinderhulk and Infinity Edge.

At least that would be humorous. At least you know better. The people I am talking to, and pleading with, actually do believe wards are useless and smite or teleport are good in bot lane.

Well tp can be OK in not, especially of the support is Shen... He tps top/mid to help them...then ults adc to save them.

one game vs a Mordekaiser bot when he 1st got reworked i took TahmKench with summoner 11 and upgraded it to redsmite so when we fight him i could use redsmite to reduce his damage and to do true damage to him with my % damage as TahmKench i won....

Exhaust also reduces damage dealt, but by 40% instead of 20%. It also slows, slows attack speed, reduces armor and reduces magic resist. Challenging smite also only reduces damage YOU take from them and doesn't help your ADC.

I'm just saying.

Challenging smite reduces damage the enemy does to YOU by 20%.

Exhaust reduces the damage the enemy deals to EVERYTHING by 40%, reduces their attack speed and movement speed by 30%, reduces their armor and magic resist by 10 each.

Exhaust is a far superior spell. Especially since to use challenging smite you have to invest in smite, buy a jungle item, which doesn't give you any other useful stats till it's completed the enchantment.

Kindred and Kalista don't need flash...those mobile ADCs can actually do fine with out it... And Hecarim could easily go Ghost/Smite for jg to get some added damage from the move speed of ghost...

I wish this weren't an actual issue, but I've seen smite support frequently, it always results in the support with smite contributing to nothing and his team gets butchered.

My favorite is immobile supports with TP exhaust or TP Ignite, congrats you've just guaranteed I as a jungler will camp that lane into oblivion.

I see a lot of tank supports going ignite smite. Buying a Cinderhulk. Never buying wards. Then blaming their team when they go 1/10/1. Say their ADC was bad. Then pull the innocent support card if you call them out. And then people actually defend them.

Meanwhile. Playing Leona. With exhaust, flash, sightstone, face and proper runes and masteries. I get raged at if my W steals 1 kill all game.

ill go leona sup with smite and flash only if my role was unfairly taken away from me. but even then going tracking knife cinderhulk does give an alternative to sightstone.

Yeah I don't get that myself, sure it would have been nice to get the extra gold, but I'd rather have the support pick up the kill than risk it getting away and getting nothing instead of the 450g our team got out of it.

it all is situational ideally smite on support isnt good but if a support can use it to help steal jungle buffs for mid giving them blue taking from enemy or help secure drakes and barons and if you take chilling smite its similar to exhaust or red smite to allow u to reduce damage from a high dps enemy on someone who does true damage or something like that it can all work. its just give and take. it all has pros and cons.

i am a support main and i wont take smite on sona or morg but maybe leona or nunu support if i feel like yeti enough its creates different type of game play.

like last night i was top as mao vs darius and i took exhaust enemy had darius, yi , ekko luccian , now some might say i should of had tp as mao

but i played safe in lane never fought darius unless i had the advantage or a gank and the exhaust reduced his damage and his ability to get away from ganks and it allowed me to peel harder in fights for my carries.

my kda was 5-3-23 his was 3/10/8

I have several problems with using red smite on a support, first off you took away an item slot for a jungle item when you already have really bad gold income issues on support. Next, red smite only reduces damage that you take from that target, it's an entirely selfish itemization, where supports are intended to support the team, not themselves. Finally you cannot reduce true damage with anything, red smite, exhaust, armor, mr, hp, etc. There is nothing at all that reduces true damage

Chilling smite I can see the theory behind, but when the majority of supports have a hard cc, the added slow seems largely ineffective, especially when you consider you dumped gold into getting it instead of another item that would have been helpful for your team, you gave up exhaust, which reduces damage dealt, reduces attack speed, reduces movement speed, as well as decreasing their MR and Armor. To me I can't see any situation where you recuperate the trade off as support to take smite or TP instead of exhaust.

Top lane is an entirely different story and isn't even close to an appropriate comparison in my opinion.

AP? Sure, depending on the support. Not taking wards, getting smite and teleport? No, they will get just as much flak as an AP zed or AD heimer would.

What... Zed doesn't scale at all with AP AD Heimer doesn't scale either.

Taking teleport and smite isn't trolling because they can actually utilize it while Zed can't use AP. It's a normal. You don't need to be faker jr. and think it's the end of your life if you don't have exhaust lol... It's a fucking summoner spell.

See ignite is a viable support summoner spell you don't have to take exhaust exclusively, especially when you have a kill lane.

I once did Smite, but only because I was Nasus Supp (don't ask) and only because Wither.

Well did manage to steal Gromp with E, get First Blood and Blue and flashed over wall before Bot caught me. But meh, Bronce...

I admit I got Tracker rather than Sighstone that game.
