@Noobs: Stop bitching about Bard. It's his first fucking day.

Seriously, no bitching and moaning about a Champion on his first day of play. It should be illegal.

I think you guys totally forgot about release Nasus. He has a 1:1 AP ratio on his ult that got hotfixed in 24 hours, probably the most OP champion ever released.

This makes me laugh. I see threads about how new champs are broken. Then people remember the old days...

release Xin.

Release Jax had a dodge stat you could raise up to 90 percent before he even activated counter strike. Not even enemy nexus turrets could hit through the dodge. SO broken, if he got fed enough he could sit at your nexus killing you in spawn for 3-5 minutes before your nexus could target him. Spawn trap op.

Karlyr1 votes

False, dodge was on the mutiplicating factor. (If you had 10% dodge and gotten old ninja tabis (10%) you would be at 10% + 9% (10% of the 90% remaining)

you would hardly get 60% dodge with the most ambitious dodge build.

Release Xin was able to three shot a malz under tower at lvl 3. I know it because it happened to me and I left the game for 2 weeks (until the next patch)

mjack331 votes

Nope. Jax actually got to 90% dodge on a full build. You couldn't really spawn camp though..... you basically got killed after 30 seconds average? in their nexus if you built realy really tanky.

Karlyr1 votes

1 - 0.1125 (runes Red AND Quints) = 88.75% Of an attack landing 0.8875 * 12 (ninja tabis) = 10.65% -> 78.1% 78.1 * 0.2 (PD #1) = 15.62% -> 62.48% 62.48 * 0.2 (PD #2) = 12.496% -> 49.984% 49.984 * 0.2 (PD #3) = 9.9968% -> 39.9872% 39.9872 * 0.2 (PD #4) = 7.99744% -> 31.98976% 31.98976 *0.2 (PD #5) = 6.397952% -> 25.591808%

So with NOTHING ELSE than dodge items you roughly got BY ITEMS ONLY 74% dodge. But WAIT ! You forgot Jax's E !

25.591808 * 0.18 (LVL 5 E) = 4.60652544% -> 21% (I'm bored of using the calculator for this)

You could NEVER get 90% dodge easily. And by that second phantom dancer approximately you were basically wasting your money. So 79% Dodge MAX. (And you had next to 0 Attack Damage.)

Good job, you won though. I lost all that time for nothing.

ive only seen him twice...1 support, 1 jungle...jungle bard was absolute garbage..we crapped all over that fool. the support on our team was good, i liked the health shrines for the jungler on his first camp, then recall head to lane, but he wasnt an oppresive presence on our team. so i have no idea why there are people bitching and why there are people bitching about them bitching, i wasnt event impressed enough to buy the dude yet, although i do like his ability to drop health pacs down for everybody..i may pick him up to support him and just be a roaming medic, lol

we don't wanna complain about it but plz don't try him directly in ranked until someone made a viable playstyle for him

Nobody ever had a valid day 1 opinion about champions.

Azir, Gnar, Kalista and Sion were all considered too bad to ever see competitive play when they launched. Every last one of them were contested picks at one point.

SpecterVonBaren7 votes

Azir was riddled with bugs on his release, it was so bad that he was actually removed from playability for them for quite some time, and even after he got THOSE bugs fixed he still had several others in line. And even then there were several people that said, "The moment he gets his bugs fixed he will be a terror".

No one was really complaining that much about Sion on his first day, for the most part I remember the comments being mostly about funny moments with his ult but yes, he did have complaints about unreliability with his q and passive (People still have complaints about his passive, but it's just situationally useful) but he also received some buffs after his release.

Everyone was complaining about how OP they thought Kalista was going to be before her release, the reason no one talked about it for a while afterwards was because people were still getting used to her and so her potential couldn't be reached.

I do give you though, many people completely misjudged Gnar.

I'm not saying any complaints about Bard are right (Where are you seeing them anyway?) but the typical track record is that however "broken", balanced, or "up" a champ is perceived to be when they're on the pbe is typically how they turn out after they've been released for a while.

The only reason people thought Kalista was bad was because her E was bugged and not scaling with AD. It was fixed and now she's the best at everything. Kind of how it was with Azir, Azir had tons of bugs that made him unplayable, once those were fixed he was considered one of the best.

Rozzeta1 votes

I don't remember anyone saying Kalista was bad, just that it would be a matter of time. Almost everyone was horrified at the spotlight video where Kalista kited Shivanna by autoattacking her.

I Main Swain3 votes

so....like every league match up to now?

SpecterVonBaren4 votes

My initial thoughts on him after one game is that he's horribly under-tuned.

His Q missile speed is way too slow, his auto's tickle so he has bad poke, and he has no innate tankiness. Yes he has a lot of interesting utility, but each one is highly situational, you need to wait for your w to charge before it gets to a good heal, his q has situational cc and is slow like I said, and his E, though incredibly powerful in the right situation, is just that, situational. He's basically Batman in LoL. Give him prep time and the right situations and he can be incredible, but catch him off guard and he pops like a balloon.

ImHerVoice3 votes

haven't lost a game against a bard. Must be weak.

Troy2426212 votes

Day one opinion: Not sure about his power level, but holy Hell is he annoying. Also, good thing Riot didn't perpetuate the mobility creep again.

OWAIT.

At the very least, I think his design is pretty cool, and if he is OP/UP could be fixed into a balanced champion.

Clowns Suck2 votes

I just wish champs would be banned from ranked on launch day. So many morons saying "I played him once on PBE and I 100% carried with him so I'll be fine".

THESuperStuntMan2 votes

I dunno, I feel qq'ing about some champs on launch is justified Kalista Not someone like Bard who has obvious strengths and weaknesses though.

TenkuX2 votes

Bard is the ultimate champion for a griefer. Immature kids going around ulting enemies that are about to die all day long and ulting teammates that are doing baron just to allow enemies to come in and bombard all their ults at once.

Risurin2 votes

people should know by now, do not play rank on the day of a new champion release /rework/new skin. people are going to try stupid shit with those on release day.

Trylobyte2 votes

I remember one of my first experiences with Bard... It was in a bot game, Bard was on my team. I was playing Ashe and, strangely, we had a Diamond-ranked Viktor on our team. First win of the day for him I suppose, but I digress.

Fight about to break out in mid. Four bots, Bard and Viktor watching them. I recalled to buy stuff and shot my giant arrow of stunny doom right down midlane. It's flying, getting closer, getting closer, Viktor is getting ready to go in when the arrow lands...

Bard ults just in time for the arrow to fly through all four bots right as Viktor jumps in only to find he can't combo them anymore. They come out of stasis just in time to nearly kill him if not for him executing some remarkable shenanigans with his gravity field before he turns around and obliterates them with lasers and black holes. Bard is incredibly apologetic, but Viktor and I are laughing our asses off.

Someone's gonna need to remake that 'I'm Jarvan, I'm helping!' picture for Bard. He has potential for Fun(tm).

Pikmints2 votes

This just in: a new law has been passed stating that "Any League of Legends users found complaining about a new champion on the first day they are released will be fined and sentenced to 2 months in prison".

In all seriousness, I was expecting something like this to happen though. Odds are that more people are playing support than normal, and they're not covering their basics adequately enough. I imagine a lot of people are spending the entire game roaming for their chimes and ignore their adc for over half of the laning phase. I also imagine that people aren't sure how to use his ultimate properly and are hurting their own team or helping enemies more than if they had done nothing. I bet people have complained about Bard's spamming their health packs and using up all of their mana or making tunnels that are completely underwhelming if not entirely counterproductive.

Bard's unique on multiple levels so people want to try him, but people probably should have done a bit more research I imagine. The amount of times I was in pain watching youtube videos of people playing him in the beta and not understanding how he works is astonishing.

The Trent2 votes

They need to make chimes spawn faster that's all im saying. It takes 70 mins to get 150 chimes and that's basically when he stops getting the slow/cone/number of meep bonuses after that he just gets dmg.

Kitten of Evil1 votes

YES. They really under-scaled his passive. Also I wouldn't say no to a meep toggle.

Cale0171 votes

Champions are always overpowered right at release. I actually have a theory about it:

Riot gives us a champion at the very peak of what they can do, lets summoners rampage about freely, really leave an impact, before they gut that champion and leave everyone feeling woefully unfulfilled, playing it again and again hoping to whatever gods may exist that they can have just one game as good as launch day was.

Fast forwards two years and Zac might only just be becoming viable again.

Lord Graves III1 votes

Community actually ran the numbers on that. I believe it turned out that most champions are either underpowered at release, or champion has a nasty learning curve that players are not used to, and ended up only being overpowered in the hands of very skilled players.

Cale0171 votes

Well fancy that.

Soleka1 votes

I like Bard so far, His AOE Zona's is interesting. If used correctly you can separate a marksmen from their team. The chimes seem a little weak for having to leave lane so long to get them.

LeeDark1 votes

The chimes need to be weak, or else the exp advantage alone of having, essentially, 3 solo lanes without sacrificing anything on the roaming support would make him instantly ridiculous.

Then we'll see you tomorrow.

Kalista

LeeDark1 votes

Are you kidding? This champion was an obvious problem as soon as his abilities were revealed. Why wait until well after release?

The amount of trolling with Bard ult is already ridiculous. It's like seeing Anivia in ARAM. At least 50% of the games you see her, she'll use her wall to fuck with her own team.

NoMonku1 votes

Its fine. We expect them to complain about something new and "strange" and "unfamiliar" to them so we can tune it out. If it persists then maybe we can actually start thinking it has some credence. The other reason I'm cool with it is because they stop complaining about a lot of other things that they aren't willing to see has counters and are just upset that their "main" gets dumped on by said champion.

Stark60001 votes

I have limited exposure with him obviously. Here's my opinion after watching streams and playing a game with him.

ability to make big plays: check viable in more than one position: support and jg, check Can solo lane: no Great teamfight presence: NO Splitpush: average to bad Tanky: nothing innate utility: check

overall, with a skilled team he makes great plays. But i would put him like nami and lulu but a little worse, and average in the jungle.

He could use a small buff to either damage or tankiness IMO give his amout of utility.

BADxW0LF1 votes

I agree that people should just accept that he's going to be played, but the one thing I can't stand is that people play him right away in ranked. I always ban new champs so I don't have to put up with them on the first few days. Take a few days to practice the champ, god damn!

iamthegoatofwar1 votes

I'm not saying he is or isn't broken but don't play him ranked on the 1st day. That is all.
