Skillshot indicator width inconsistency
Actual numeric width of abilities is rarely disclosed. The few times we get to know is from nerfs/buffs in patch note. Elise E 70 --> 55, Mundo Q 80 -->60, Nidalee Q 60 --> 40, Gnar Q 45 --> 60, and recently Leona E 90-->70 for example. After finding out Leona's zenith blade indicator width has not changed at all after 5.10 patching. I found out there are some inconsistencies in the numbers riot provided with respect to in-game indicator width. So i screenshot all the single target linear skillshots and compare them side-by-side. The numbers are estimated with reference to nidalee Q being 40. I'm trying to compare strictly single target linear skillshots, some others are included for reference.
40: nidalee Q 45(!?): ryze Q 50: elise E, (gnar Q for refrence) 60: ahri E, jinx W, leesin Q, thresh Q, urgot Q 70: blitzcrank Q, kogmaw Q, leblanc E, morgana/lux Q, xerath E 75: dr.mundo Q 80: amumu Q, ezreal Q, caitlyn E, (jayce Q, leona E for reference)
The major things i want to point out is:
- The indicator width for Zenith Blade has not changed despite of the change in patch note.
- Infected cleaver's width is no where near Cocoon's width despite stated to be 60 and 55 respectively.
- many people complain about Ethereal Chain, Bandage Toss, Death Sentence, but how much of it is actually because the animation doesn't match the hitbox, instead of the width actually being too wide.
- Just like mana cost, base damage, scaling, cooldown are provided to us clearly, we might need range and width of skillshot to be visible to players as well.
- just like coccon's width was reduced moreso to make it less effective/reliable and not really because the spell is actually too wide, change ethereal chain's root duration to scale with rank instead of changing the width.
