Thornmail Contradiction

The entire point of Thornmail is to deal damage to those who use auto-attacks on you (and auto-attack based spells). My question is, why does Thornmail need the attack speed slow? For an item that relies on being auto-attacked, an attack speed slow feels like a contradiction to the item's purpose because if the opponent is attacking slower then the item's DPS from the attacker goes down. Thornmail's overall damage is already lower than before, so why make it so those who are attacking attack slower causing an even bigger drop in damage? It's a very confusing and stupid thing for the item to have.

From a player gold cost point of view, old Thornmail was very cost efficient. New Thronmail is now under 90% cost efficient according to Phreak and his patch notes review. Yes old Thornmail was cheaper (2350 old, 2900 new), but the stats on the new one are not worth the massive increase in price when the point of the item is being dragged down by the highly questionably added attack speed slow.

So to fix this, it needs the attack speed slow removed and the base damage to scale up to a certain point based on the buyer's level. The damage doesn't need to massive of a buff, but 25 flat + 10% BONUS armor is a complete joke when that's all the damage it gets the entire game. The item's damage is already limited because it's auto-attacks only, so if you don't get AA'd the item does no damage which isn't much more than what it would be doing anyway with laughable reflect damage like that. A way the Thorns passive could feel less useless (due to the auto-attack restriction) would be to allow it to deal some of its damage (50% or less) to enemies with each of YOUR auto-attacks as well.

There is a lot of design space with Thornmail's Thorn passive that isn't being utilized properly which could make the item really cool. As for my ranting, I'll end it here, but I'll probably make a post regarding changes to Thornmai so the item feels better for those who buy it for its passive.

Because thorn mail isn't designed to give a lot of damage to people who are auto attacking you. Plus... the whole point of wearing armor is to reduce the damage you take. Not sit there and eat damage and hope that someone kills themselves because they couldn't realize that they were losing health for no reason. Or... they just didn't give a f*ck because they were killing you faster than they were killing themselves.

If a champion is based on auto-attacks, they are going to buy attack speed. Why then wouldn't you want the Cold Steel passive to lower their dps?
