What is Warwick's counterplay for melee fighters or tanks?

He just seems to do a little bit of everything. He disables you (fear), he self-sustains, he has massive attack speed, he has a semi-dash, he has increased movement speed, he builds nearly full tank and he deals hybrid damage.

Are there ANY champions that are good against this guy? You kind of need mercs treads but if you buy them his basic attacks hurt too much, you need bramble vest for healing reduction but if you buy it his magic damage is higher than a syndra in mid lane.

Lastly he is a melee-exclusive champion but he is frequently immune to all forms of crowd control (whenever his Q is up).

How are you supposed to deal with him before you've built 4 full items? I've played the game for pretty long and know how to counter most champions, but Warwick has been on my instaban list for several months now because no matter who i pick he seems to outdamage, outspeed, outtank and generally outscale them.

Thanks! I'll save up my IP for him. I'm already more than halfway! Though i figure item 3076 may be a better choice, i'm not really sure.

Jax, Olaf, Vayne Just a few examples.

Jax because of his dodge and his R stats

Olaf because he out-sustains Warwick actively and passively

Vayne because she is too mobile and unpredictable + her true damage ignores his damage reduction

Olaf sounds perfect for me. I'm at 2343 IP, so i'll just have to save for 9 to 16 matches, then i'll get him. Thanks!

Pooling over some champion data at champion.gg warwick has the toughest matchup against Cho'gath in a jungle v jungle matchup. Some other melee champs he struggles against include Rammus (thorns op) and Sejuani. And from some scouring op.gg he also apparently struggles against trundle and dr. mundo.

I'm no champion expert or even have a rank, but do take these data points into consideration with your available champion pool.

Rammus seemed like the natural option, since he innately gains hybrid resistance. The problem is he is a very niche pick in top lane.

Some others suggested Olaf. I figure he is somewhat similar, seeing as he gains passive resistances from his ultimate. I'll give him a go! I prefer fighters over tanks anyway. Thanks for the suggestion though - i'll unlock Rammus after Olaf so that i have a tank option as well.
