@Community: Let's presume from now on that Riot hates Lux.

Unless Riot says otherwise, I am under the assumption that since she hasn't been given any compensation for the Season 5 mana regen changes, Riot just wants her to fall into bottom tier.

Play her mid? Mana burnouts plague her constantly and she gets easily outperformed by Xerath, Annie, and any of the mid-lane manaless assassins. Reasons to pick her have also disappeared since her utility is outclassed by Orianna, and her long-range damage is outclassed by Xerath. Heck, I try to queue up as her in Team Builder, and I get no responses at all.

Play her as support? All other supports like Sona and Nami make her feel worthless. No heal, huge mana burning on her E (which she is still supposed to max first), and inability to go double Morello or Morello/Grail because she's expected to take FQC means even one mistaken use of her mana means a lost lane or lost game. Not to mention she still has to go AP items for her shield and spells to have any meaningful effects later on.

Thus I'm left assuming Riot has no plans to help her out, and wants her to wallow in Olaf-tier. And I feel everyone else should assume that as well by this point, due to Riot's lack of input.

My brother has had no problem playing Lux support in gold-elo. I also recently played against her and she did pose a problem in mid lane. Though I might suck, my brother wins a majority of his Lux games as support. Heck, Olaf is still a strong pick in my opinion. If you think she burns mana, try Nami. Anyways, my point is that Lux isn't dead. Yet.

How is she olaf tier? Picked way more often and actually has a 50%+ win rate for plat+ as a mid laner. She just sucks as a support, 45% win rate as a support which drags her overall win rate down. Compare that to olaf who has a 4549% as a top laner and 45~47% as a jungler. She's obviously just doing fine, people just have to stop picking her as a support, since it's obviously not as successful as playing her mid lane.

Not only that, but people even take runes+masteries on her that overall has a lower win rate.

She can still safely remove carries from existence and people really under appreciate her shield.

Her mana issues are obnoxious, though. Riot knows this, and gives no fucks about it, so we assume they don't care about her.

Amusing how the stats (beyond pick rate) are really similar.

Want utility and pick potential? Pick Lux. Want cross map waveclear? Pick Ziggs. Want poke and teamfighting? Pick Xerath.

We're in a teamfighting meta, of course Xerath will be more popular.

Hate the teamfight meta so much.

I can get 1000 stacks on Nasus but it doesn't matter because if 4 of them gank me while i'm farming, no matter how fed I am, I will be knockedup for so long that I can't even activate my R. Then my team cries about me not joining teamfights even though they know damn well that Nasus is not meant for that.

I enjoy teamfighting as jungler, support, ADC, and most other toplaners, but for some reason when playing Nasus, just the thought of being near my teammates makes me sick inside.

I don't think Lux has mana issues. I think she just doesn't do enough early game damage. I find that even in blind pick I almost always end up playing vs yasuo, which is not an easy matchup as long as the yas isn't legitimately bronze, but I am still able to hold my lane until I start getting the AP needed to make bursting a real thing. Though, I expect certain new item will be of 'some' help.
