Which champions don't work on lower elos?

Mael bro··2 votes·1,687 views

I mean which champs, cant carry the shit out of low elo (bronze - gold)? I'm honestly curious, but in my mind comes these guys:

Singed - Contrary to the popular belief, once you've come into play with players above bronze, people do know that chasing Singed is a waste of time. Singed is what I in Dota dictionary would say 'a space creator'. A guy who puts pressure around the map, while your carries farm and get gold. Since objective control is really weak in lower elos in my opinion Singed is weaker there. And once Singed gets a bad matchup (and he has a lot of them) you're called feeder and then the whole team morale is in ruins and the team basically wants to /ff.

Shaco - Ganking with Shaco requires precision and technique. It requires your laners to stop overextending. Since laning mechanics are terribad in lower elos, Shaco in my opinion is obsolete there.

Any tank that is not Malphite and Amumu - Take for example someone like Maokai or Alistar , their only good thing besides tankiness is utility and since peeling is a thing of rarity in bronze. Playing a non AOE initiator tank is pointless.

Imo technical champs like Azir LeeSin get crushed in low Elo.

agreed, the very practice intensive champs like azir and lee are rarely seen, and if they are they're not often played well. Elise is another i don't see played as often or as well as some other champs

Lol at Lee being a "technical champ". He's brain-dead easy, one of the most forgiving characters with the greatest margin of error.

If he's so "brain dead easy", why haven't you rolled him in ranked in any of your 1,600+ ranked matches? [slayer-pantheon-popcorn]

He doesn't ever play any of the champs he QQ's about. 0 Lee Games. 0 Thresh Games. 0 Yasuo games. 0 Riven games. He can't even be assed to try them in normal games. But he know's they're all completely broken with absolutely 0 personal experience. How? Who knows.

Ah yes, the trash talking bronzie (Before you say it; It's the same thing), a staple of the forum... if you're going to talk smack, at least don't be bottom ranked player, alright? anyway I don't play Lee because I dislike Lee. He is blatantly overpowered and thus, it brings me great joy to stick it to Lee players as Evelynn, which I often do.

Outplaying a low skill, high reward champ LeeSin with what is an arguably underpowered character Evelynn (According to people like Meteos and Dyrus) is very enjoyable.

It was a legit question. If someone claims a champion is so brain dead easy you would think they would have played it at least once or twice. Don't say things like that if you are going to get pissy just because someone is asking a legitimate question about your argument. If lee is so blatantly OP like you say he is he would have more than a 48% winrate. A champion being popular doesn't make it OP, it just means the champion is popular. Blatantly OP champions would have 55+% winrate while having quite a decent playrate.

Broken characters have 55%+ with high play rate. Overpowered characters tend to have high pick rate with a deflated win rate because of the high pick rate, it's not complicated.

sorry but no, they are just popular champions. If they were truly overpowered they would have high winrates simple as that. You can keep telling yourself that Lee is an "easy no skill champion" and a "no skill high reward champion" all you want, it won't change the fact that he is balanced around having less than 50% winrate and that's what he has.

Nope. You're incorrect.

We've seen the same pattern play out time and again; Release Xin, release Leb, reworked GP, etc.... for more subtle numbers, we see overplayed characters over the past seasons like Lee, Thresh, Riven and Yasuo who, because of their high pick rate, have a deflated win rate.

Conversely, underpowered characters tend to be underplayed which inflates their win rate (Ex: Cassiopeia, Skarner, etc.) . Reality does not bend to your emotion.

keep saying that if that makes you feel good but all i hear is someone who cannot play Lee yet is calling him a no skill, high reward OP champion. One day maybe it will become true that he is that. When that happens come and tell me ok?

When you talk trash like that, you're forcing me to check your stats... I don't want to do that because I know what I'll find. Don't talk trash, maybe instead try using an argument after I decimated your previous ones.

When you resort to attacking me instead of presenting arguments, you are only admitting that you are a failure in this topic.

you can check my stats all you want, what will that prove? that you are higher ranked than me? this is not a "who is better at league" thing but go ahead. You suck at Lee Sin and there is nothing you can show me that will prove otherwise since you refuse to play him so... hell tell me what you want to know about my rank and i will tell you. I do not hide behind a rank wall and i do not care about what others say about what rank i am. I am not the one who pulled the "you are X rank therefore your opinion doesn't matter" when someone asked for a legitimate question and then tried to cover it by saying it wasn't one. Once again, don't come here saying BS about a champion being easy or anything when you don't even play said champion. Good night sir

Every time I'm supporting Kalista, I think, "Wow, your ult is just terrible and jarring, and being ripped out of the immersive game to deal with the world's clunkiest mechanic is the least fun thing in League. This was obviously designed to be used by people who are communicating in real time, on headsets."

And Bard clearly works best when you're in a coordinated team, as opposed to the chaos of solo queue.

disregardable2 votes

I especially love when I accidentally press R instead of my trinket, and my squishy support launches herself at the enemy team. Like pls.

Itadaki Seieki1 votes

I play Bard in solo queue, but it basically means you HAVE to use your ulti whenever it's up to pick people off. It's stupid, but you can also Q people often because people like to stack or hug walls.

DREADN0UGHT2 votes

you forgot Draven. The riskiest of adc picks in most elos. Too much mechanics.

ZephyrDrake2 votes

any champion can work in low elos provided you know how to play them.

Randomonium2 votes

Basically any champion that requires high mechanical skill you should avoid in low elo because you will constantly be fighting with your champion because you don't have the mechanical skill to use him properly. LS (former gravity coach) uses a really good analogy that playing a high mechanical skill champion when you are low elo is like trying to use a really powerful pokemon before you have all the badges you need, the champion won't do what you want him to do.

Some, but not all, examples are: Azir Blitzcrank Elise Kalista Nidalee Rengar Syndra Thresh Vayne Yasuo Zed

Because you ALWAYS get stupid ass teammates who don't engage. Thus Kata and Akali are useless AF.

Lee Sin. For the love of god, don't play Lee in Bronze unless you're a smurf.

Also, Shen is an excellent low ELO tank. Sejuani is good, as long as you're not an idiot (so maybe not?), the list goes on. But don't play Lee.

Kyrrion1 votes

Disagree entirely on Shaco. If you're good with him, you can punish anyone who makes a mistake which are much more common in the lower rankings.

But really, the only champs that don't work in low skilled environments are the ones you aren't good at.

Serevas1 votes

I actually disagree about Maokai. Granted I had a kickass Orianna mid lane when I last played him, but typical bronze players want to fight a lot, maokai has an AoE damage reduction and can initiate pretty well, not in an AoE fashion, but still pretty well.

The 20 second increase on his ultimate CD at all ranks was a little harsh though.

Athenes Lulu1 votes

Backline supports that actually relies teamwork participation.

People are complete morons, so expecting teamwork is near to impossible.

Not true. I have 60.5% win with Janna on a smurf account. Sure they aren't some crazy faceroll champion that a high elo player could get like 95%+ win with in low elo, but they still work.

IMO any champion can work in low elo. Just whatever you feel comfortable with. Although I wouldn't recommend any of the harder to get comfortable with than others. But hey, if you can play someone like Azir in bronze, go for it. Just don't ever play in ranked if you've never played him before.

Leadpaintchips1 votes

I would have to disagree on shaco (granted, I haven't played him in about 2 years), he can be very good at lower elo's, because of how he ganks. You don't gank hard targets, it's shutting down the squishies. Get behind that ADC with your stealth, and just mow them down. Get behind the Mage, again mowing. In order to counter Shaco, you need to know where's he's going to be at, either knowing his patterns, or warding.

BluePolarizer1 votes

Maokai has crazy burst if you go Runeglaive.

When I was playing in silver or gold, I was actually most frustrated when using bruisers that fall off since it always felt like a race against time and no matter what you do, if your team can't close out early it didn't matter what you did.

HoboMcJoe1 votes

Galio needs team followup even if fed, which will be hard low elo
