Is Azir's ultimate supposed to be worthless?

https://imgur.com/WX0xxuQ Is this working as intended? I thought Azir's ultimate was supposed to stop dashes unless if the target is CC immune. It feels pretty shitty just getting steamrolled like this. I feel bad for the Cho'gath in this clip too. He invested all of his gold in tank stats and could still be destroyed by burst-per-second within his own Q cast time.

They've made this champion garbage entirely tbh.

Yeah... I like the concept behind the champion, but he feels unplayable. I picked up this Gravelord skin that is currently on sale because I would love to learn Azir, but I feel like the cards are stacked against him so hard that I might just give up and refund the skin...

hes inherently problematic so riot is keeping him in an unplayable state until they rework him

Azir is a competitive play champion, he requires teammates to make is plays, but last Worlds a fellow playing Azir I think it was Caps that killed an entire team by himself with that Ult.

https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/overview/azir/lcs Hmmm... He only has a 1.6% play rate in LCS and did poorly in all 5 of his recent matches in his LCS game history, losing all 5 of those games. I mean, he performs even worse outside of LCS, but he's not good in pro play either. I'd say he's obviously a weak champion overall.
His ultimate is very unsatisfying and honestly feels weaker than a basic ability - I would have gladly traded Azir's ultimate wall for Yasuo's wind wall in the video above, because wind wall could have deleted Nami's ultimate.

Nobody cares he's a competitive play champion, if a champion is only good for the 100 or so players that actually play in pro scene then something's wrong with it.

He's actually not even good in competitive. Look at this recent matches in LCS. He also only has 1.6% play rate in LCS which is virtually nonexistent. He's not good anymore in any level of play. https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/overview/azir/lcs

he's still good for his mains.

Difference between old and current azir is that old azir was decent for mediocre players but fucking bonkers for hardcore mains/high elo players and current azir is total shit for average player but still good for mains/high elo players. He doesn't need buffs, just his old "mains" were used to him being broken back in the day, and now they want it back.

They couldn't figure out how to balance Azir so they just made the entire champ worthless.

Yeah it's disgusting that it is working like this but yeah yasuo and rengar mains were crying enough to rework it. Nowdays azir is just unplayble in certain matchups. Don't pick him against yasuo or kog maw. Yes it is counter-intiutive since azir should counter yasuo but nope he is not. Also Korean chally now plays him in top against melee champions without dashes with conqueror. /darius, garen, trundle udyr etc. / And in teamfights you need better postiion, always be at max range of soldiers, kite arround them.

Sorry for the late reply. I did try to position safely, and I figured that the safest spot was next to Cho'gath and Leona, since their protection seemed the only option against champions who could close onto me and run me down at will. Sadly, Cho'gath and Leona couldn't survive a stiff breeze in the current meta, so protection wasn't forthcoming.

Top lane against immobile melee seems the only place Azir can function right now, but I don't want to be one of those guys taking ranged champions top lane just to create a toxic experience. Azir isn't worth learning if that's his only viable strategy. By the way, the reason I was behind in levels was because I was experimenting with bot lane Azir to see if that could work. The Yasuo wasn't even fed here up until this point, though his team overall did have some lead. There was just nothing I or the tanks could offer in this fight.

I used to play azir a lot. Mastery lvl 7 and plat 1 player. He used to have a good laning phase. His range is now so short that he gets out traded by bascially all other ranged champions. Also dealing with high mobility melee midlaners like yasuo or fizz or talon is quite hard. You can t poke them because your mana pool is too weak and when you go in for trades you are bascially in their mlee trading range and lose the trade too.

His teamfigths are so trash now too. Whenever someone charges at you and you use the wall (emperors divide) to push them away , you still take the damage and the stun most of the times. Even when you push them back midair. Also you get blown up by all the aoe damage in a second while you have to mciro like a god and sidestep, while still using your soldiers to attack. Meanwhile really no one that is not hard cced by a thresh hook into
a jhin w or smth similar will never stand in your soldiers very long.

Also the fancy combo of azirsec which could decide games is now worthless. YOu charge in, you knock them back, somehow you knocked someone slightly in a wall, so he gets knocked into you instead. The other guys just dash or jump over your wall since it doesnt seem to stop them anymore. Then your a oneshot and your team is 1 vs 4. There is still the possibility of an insane azirsec, when your whole team expects it and can play around it. But its so rare now and does not even work in Proplay anymore. Also your shield is pathetic (shifting sands) and the ult is borderline useless.

Feels bad man. Used to be a bib azir fan, you saw him every time in proplay, Faker did amazing plays and now its just a trash garbage champ. And don t tell em azir is broken. His kit used to be good. But now there are so many champs with overloaded kits, azirs kit is nothign special anymore. Neeko. Zoe, yasuo, sylas, leblanc, aatrox, kai sa.

Rito rly fucked up azir, now yu have more impact on a game if you pay teemo or nunu. Really pissed of because of that.

Yeah... He honestly feels terribly weak, almost unplayably weak, and I normally play non-meta champions so my standards aren't even high. I mean, just look at his statistics. Even at 200+ games' experience, hardcore high ranked Azir mains can barely break 50% winrate on a supposedly "high skill ceiling" champion. He's nonexistent in solo queue. He's barely picked in pro play, despite pro players having plenty of practice with him from back when he was still a champion.

I would love to pick him up because I like his visuals and gameplay theme, but he's just so unrewarding. There is no part of his kit that really feels strong, but his ultimate is just tragically pathetic. It is really worse than plenty of basic abilities, yet it even has a fairly long cooldown for an ultimate. I mean, with a high level of skill, you could theoretically make a fancy play with it, but those occasions are probably few and far between. The risk in even attempting such a maneuver is too high for the chance of success to justify his ultimate being as awful as it is in other scenarios. Those plays are also too far out of reach for someone just picking up Azir, and there doesn't seem to be much incentive to learn him. Many common picks can freely jump, tumble, blink through his ultimate, or shoot past it, or as a last resort simply walk around it (and it's not even as wide as Anivia's basic ability wall).

His ult has been changed ages ago. It was too powerful against people like Rengar, who could not auto attack him at all in a brush with it up. Learn him, he's not awful. Take Lethal Tempo or Hail of Blades and enjoy the carnage.

I was using Lethal Tempo. Azir feels extremely weak regardless of keystone.

About Rengar, I specifically remember that there was once a glitch where Rengar could get stuck on the wall and couldn't stop leaping onto it. That was a bug though. If it worked properly, I don't think it blocking Rengar's leap would be 'too strong' at all. Rengar has extremely limited counterplay because of his <1 second 100-0 gameplay, and Azir's wall, being an ultimate ability on a rarely played champion, only has the potential to add very limited counterplay to the game. I guess Riot didn't want to be bothered with properly fixing the bug.

At this point, Azir needs a new ultimate because the one he has feels useless given all of the dashes in the game. I would gladly trade Azir's wall for Yasuo's Wind Wall, which is an ultimate in exchange for a basic ability. Hell, even Anivia's wall seems stronger than Azir's because Anivia's scales to be much wider.

Uhh, his wall was nerfed back at Patch 7.19 where dashes are allowed through it. I'm honestly surprised you didn't know about this after 2 years.
