Except he has a negative or just barely passing (50.XX) winrate across just about every single possible factor (overall average/steadily decreasing WR over patches/experience/game length/builds/runes/matchups/etc)?
Of course Azir is very strong against certain matchups. That means almost nothing. There's a lot of various hard-counter matchups in this game as a whole. However, on average, he has a negative winrate against just about every single mid matchup save for like, 4-5ish (I think? Something around that figure)
I was assuming people would actually look up data themselves, but I guess that was too much to ask of them.
League of Graphs/Champion.GG data on Azir is where I got my information from. He has a negative winrate across every single rank from Bronze to Challenger, and his winrate actually decreases as it goes up. Because, y'know, people actually know how to play against and beat Azir as ranks go up.
Sure, LCS and some other super exceptional LCS-level players might do good with him. They make up almost none of the entire playerbase. I'm not even asking for balancing to Bronze like some people keep trying to shove those words into my mouth. I'm pointing out that if even Plat+ players can barely do well if they can even achieve a positive WR in the first place even after tons of experience, it might be worth reconsidering calling him "OP" or whatever.
Yes, Azir is strong. But the number of players who can actually make use of that strength is so low it's practically irrelevant. Hence, being "effectively" bad because even the majority of high ELO players can barely do well with him.
