" objectives don't matter if all lanes lost"

Actual quote from my jungler a few days ago after we got 4 man ganked bot, enemy top was dead, and he top and mid were by herald and didn't even attempt to take it.

I confronted him about that decision as I was pinging that we should take herald while their entire team was on the other side of the map. At this point in the game as a team we were down 2 towers and about 6 kills. A good herald push cpuld have easily gotten us back into the game.

My question about the quote, is wether or not there is any truth or logic behind it that I am somehow missing.

Was he defending?

If you were not defending, he was forced to defend.

If you expect to nose dive dragon, rift, or dragon with your inhibs exposed and minions coming in hard, I find it hard to not agree with him. I large minion wave does more than people believe. Sometimes, more than a champion would with a normal wave.

Was he going after tower?

Yes, rift might have helped more, but some comps can melt it so fast it wouldn't matter or the damage you deal out doesn't equal the time it took to take rift.

Bot lane got dove (4 man gank) under outer turret on bot side. At the same time, jungle mid and top 3 man ganked top. They then backed instead of taking top tower + herald which they were right next to. Outter tower was gone regardless of they backed or not.

Tower is the bigger priority. Even if you were going to lose a tower, that doesn't mean you shouldn't defend a wave. Again, minion waves do more than people think. All it takes is you not paying attention for seven or less seconds and another tower is gone by minions.

Now which tower is priority depends on the distance of the enemy minions, time it takes to recall, and etc. It's not black and white.

Chances are, he was suggesting you guys didn't know how to defend. However, not directly.

No, objectives OP if all lanes are lost.

You know how many times I pushed a win even tho my team lost lanes?

How do you get objectives when everyone goes to the pit to try and contest but they die

The entire enemy team was either dead, or on the opposite side of the map. Herald would have been long dead by the time they got there.

No, you're correct if your team isn't in a position to follow up on a play they should do something else on the other half of the map.

This is called a cross map play, so in order to compensate the dive bottom you get something top.
